I tried the grand and it was delicious. Loads of corned beef with all their deli meats (pastrami, ham, roast beef, and turkey). The sandwich was very filling and definitely hit the spot in terms of quality food and a full stomach. The lettuce, tomato, and onions were a nice addition, I had a hard time getting a good bite without parts of the sandwich falling out. I tried the mozzarella sticks and instead of the fries and oh my gosh, they were the best mozzarella sticks I've ever had in my life. Mainly due to the batter and size of the bread surrounding the mozzarella cheese. Perfectly cooked with a solid crunch and it hit the spot! I wish they made a larger order of them! I've watched all the hype on social media and it kept coming on my pages for TikTok. So, I came, excited to try the food and meet Angel but he was out. I placed my order online for pickup. Surprisingly, the place was empty when we pulled in, but before leaving, the folks were coming in. I paid a total of $56.00 for the order. I specifically asked for my Russian dressing to be on the side, because I HATE it on my sandwich, and no cheeses. Guess what? Dressing on it AND on the side. The sandwich was just ok. They didn't listen to me (Angel's wife) when I said no dressing on my sandwich(at the window), and I had it under special instructions on my order. The deviled eggs, no seasoning at all! No relish no salt. It's a big fat NO. My hubby got a corned beef on onion roll with Swiss and mustard. He thought it was just ok. Now the egg rolls!? PERFECTO! I've never had a corned beef egg roll. I enjoyed it. All in all, this place isn't bad, but all the hype made it seem like it was extraordinary. I drove out of my way to come here. This is great! This is better than Bread Basket, Lou's Mr Corned Beef and all the coneys! The corned beef is flavorful, tender and doesn't have that little piece of fat you always get from other places. I ALWAYS get the XL on onion roll. The service is okay. The girl that takes your order is nice. Now we know the man/owner can be a bit much on social Media sometimes. A bit confusing for me lol but that's not "our fight". Unfortunately they close super early, so if you work days you'll probably never get to experience this. They close at 6. Of course lunch time is super busy. It's very small inside, so be mindful of that! It's takeout only! I've had a piece of pie from here and it was good too, nice big piece. The koolaid could be a little sweeter imo. Try it. The lady who took our order was nice; however she forgot the mustard on my sandwich. My sandwich was the perfect temp, bread wasn't tough, very soft. The turkey was delicious. I ordered a small should have gotten a medium. The corn beef egg-roll was delicious. I loved it with the Russian dressing! He wanted pastrami and corn beef mix and they were out of pastrami. Stopped by D Motown Deli after work yesterday. I hadn't been there in at least ten years. I went by because I saw a post of their IG page. The IG posts look amazing with giant juicy sandwiches. I'll get to what I thought of the food in a sec. What's exemplary is the staff, particularly the one at the counter how served me. I hate that I didn't ask his name, but it was clear that he obviously serves in a managerial capacity. He handled a major flow of customers and did not skimp on the integrity of the service he gave. He was friendly and super efficient. There is a good amount of food choices on the menu, all seemed to be priced reasonably. They offer a variety of sandwiches, egg rolls, desserts and side dishes. I ordered the humdinger, with corned beef, swiss and coleslaw. It was just ok to me. Mind you, I am a bit of a connoisseur of corned beef. I grew up on it and have eaten sandwiches at delis all of my life. I also ordered deviled eggs and potato salad. The eggs were good, but the potato salad - not so much. I didn't care for the flavor and the potatoes were hard. It was inedible. Nevertheless, I will return if I am in the area. The steady flow of customers and their many years of being in business lets me know that this was just an "off day". read more

I live in the land of Jewish Delis (West Bloomfield) and only heard about the Motown Deli on TikTok. The food looked so good, I had to try it. It is a bit of a fortress -- bullet proof glass between the workers and the patrons. However, ordering was very easy. I went specifically for the Pastrami and ordered an XL. It was the best Pastrami sandwich I've ever had. It was more shaved than sliced and incredibly tender and moist. It's too messy to eat in the car, but I ate 1/2 while I was driving anyway. I'd give the sandwich a 9 out of 10. They screwed up my dessert order but I was too full to eat It anyway. Brave the drive and get a pastrami sandwich. You will be very glad you did. I've seen so many IG posts for this place that I had to try it when I was in Detroit! My review is based on their corned beef version as they ran out of pastrami. My heart broke. No pastrami left?!? I came from California for a visit! It's their most popular meat obviously so I just have to come earlier if there is a next time. The employee was super nice and did apologize. They said they would have more in the morning. Unfortunately, I was flying home before they opened. Service was an A I ordered an XL Humdinger and a corned beef eggroll. The eggroll was exactly what it was named. I wish there was cheese in it for a good factor. The sauce I was given did help enhance the flavor. B- The Humdinger comes with Cole Slaw inside the sandwich, Russian dressing, and Swiss cheese. The XL portion is the biggest one listed on the menu, but after I had already ordered, one of the employees mentioned to another customer of a 2XL and 3XL version! The 3XL runs about $30. The meat was super tender. A- I opted for the onion roll as it is the most popular way. The bread was soft as a pillow and complimented the sandwich well. A+ Overall, I'd love to come back for a 3XL pastrami! I don't know if it lived up to its hype, but it was definitely my favorite place that I ate while in Detroit. OMG!!!!! This place is AMAZING! My girlfriends and I took an Amtrak train ride to Detroit for the weekend to enjoy a broadway musical, The Wiz, and take in some other great sites. We heard the DMotown Deli served great corned beef sandwiches and they never lied! The service was outstanding!!! When I asked the young lady if the corned beef was tender, she replied yes. I went back to where my friends were to discuss what, how much and how many sandwiches to order. The young lady called me back to the window and offered me a sample of the corned beef. I was surprised, grateful and impressed with the quality taste and flavor of the meat. The corned beef was so flavorful, not fatty and very tender. It was so delicious that I ordered 6 large corned beef sandwiches to take home to my family. My family enjoyed the sandwiches too. Didn't realize until I got all the way home. I see these big huge sandwiches on IG, but the menu doesn't offer any prices so u don't know what is what. Our sandwiches were average at best. I was supposed to have corned beef and roast beef on onion roll with Swiss cheese and onion roll, but they put it on rye bread with mustard.
