But what stood out this time was something we truly appreciate: the portions. Manageable, thoughtful, no wasteful excess -- yet you leave perfectly satisfied. In a world where wasting food is environmentally irresponsible, this matters. Our very attentive waiter checked in mid-meal to ask if we needed more rice. We declined -- because it was just the perfect size. That kind of personal attention is rare. You don't just feel fed here, you feel looked after. I notice that doesn't always go over well here. Too bad. On that note, Satkar is by far and away the closest thing to the REAL Indian food I grew up with in San Francisco, the land of cheap, delicious, authentic ethnic foods. Satkar is like the best of both worlds: outstanding and authentic Indian food at dirt cheap prices at lunch time (€8.50 for lunch deal - main, side, raita, rice, salad bar, and potato salad or special salad of the day), fantastic service, and a really lovely and comfortable interior. The Aloo Ghobi and Chicken Tikka Masala exceeded all expectations and the service is quite honestly among the best I've enjoyed in Helsinki in 2 years. Smiles, conversation, a genuine interest in whether or not we enjoy our meal...where am I!?!?!? Since moving here, I've been unhappy with the lack of really good Indian cuisine but Satkar has changed all of that. Satkar is now in my Top 5 favorite places to eat in Helsinki. Outstanding! Bravo!
