Because of the tools made available to me by Integrity RV Inspections, specifically CRL feature, I was able to quickly establish the cost to remedy the defects that I considered more than normal wear. I went back to the dealer armed with a detailed list of defects and cost to cure, which allowed me to make an informed offer based on data, not emotion. My revised offer was more than 40% below book value. The dealer continued to insist the defects represented normal wear and as a result I walked. Without the detailed inspection and state of the art tools provided by Karen and Jeff I could have been on the hook for more than $50,000 in repairs. I can think of no other investments (the cost of the inspection) yielding a $50,000 return in one day. I cannot thank them enough for their help and would recommend them to anyone considering the purchase of a recreational vehicle.

Well, we were not too worried since the site next to us had no campers (July 2) and the one on the other side stayed in their TT. ... THEN the 3rd arrived. UGH! The quiet people left in the morning and were replaced by two families and the other side had a good size group. They were overall quiet but the double, if not triple family site decided to make this their grand central. They had friends from different sites visit and stay. Midnight came and went and they were still loud but I thought, well, at least the music stopped. Kind of wish the music would turn back on because they got louder and louder. 3:45 AM and they were LOUD! I didn't want to start trouble so put my DVD player on. What would have helped if knowing that 10PM or 11PM was quiet hour, why wouldn't the host drive around at midnight to check on the noise level? This was what upset me. Let me tell you that the place was nice and I'm learning that when you camp with hookups they are closer together. Okay, that would be fine, but even more reason for the host to keep an eye on the party people. The place itself is clean and neat. Don't plan on launching your boat from here (or kayak) but there is a place just 2 minutes from here where you can. That's where we went in. The lake is nice, too. --- Let me take that back, if you are brave and more experienced than me, you may be able to launch kayak. I need a boat ramp or beach. ;) The place would have seriously gotten a 5 star if not for the lack of consideration I felt that the hosts had by not checking the spots after quiet hours. BTW, yes, I know it was a holiday weekend, but come on! 3AM!!!!???!!! FYI: I would recommend this on a quieter weekend or weekday.

If you want WiFi, swimming pools, and cable TV, then you should stay at a KOA, but if you want peace and quiet in a pretty setting, then this is the perfect little campground to enjoy. We go here to get away from TV, telephones, and computers. Kid Valley is a perfect campground if you want to explore the Johnston Observatory at Mt. St. Helen's or go hiking. There are many good hiking trails--we have hiked Coldwater Lake, the Hummocks, and Harry's Ridge, to name a few. It's true that there is not much else close by, so make sure you have enough fuel and food for your stay. You can buy ice and firewood at the campground. There is also a restaurant within walking distance, but we have never tried it. There are eighteen RV sites with full hookups and two more sites with just electric and water. There are also tents sites and all camping sites have fire rings, picnic tables, spacious campsites. There is not much for privacy between the sites, but the sites are not crammed that close together either. They don't take credit cards, so plan to pay in cash. The rates are very reasonable too. The restrooms are older, but they are clean. If there are any problems at all, Ray, the camp host, is more than happy to assist you. There are some full time campers living here, but they are all located up in the front part of the campground. For us, camping is enjoying nature and getting away from it all. So if you love rustic and peace and quiet, then Kid Valley is a great place to stay.

Small wooded campground in a great location to see the westside of Mount St. Helens…read more Sites/setting: Sites 1-20 are RV sites. Most have full hook-ups. I believe sites 17-20 are just water/electric. Sites 1-6 are currently occupied with long-term residents. Sites A-J are smaller tent sites. Sites are in a wooded setting; however, the woods are in the back of the sites and there is nothing in between each site, so there isn't much privacy. It wasn't too bad because it was pretty empty (aside from the residents), so we only had other campers on one side of us. All sites are easy to get in and out, dirt, and pretty level. All sites have a picnic table and a fire pit (you can purchase wood there for $10 a wheelbarrow). Amenities/Utilities: Cell service was nonexistent. There was no wi-fi available. From the campground to the westside of Mount St. Helens (trails and observation areas) we were never able to get internet, so we had to rely on maps/brochures to plan our days. I wish I would have know this so I could have been more prepared in planning our activities during our stay ahead of time. The campground doesn't have a store(the gas station across the street is permanently closed), so aside from firewood, the closest store is Drew's Grocery which is about 8 miles away. There is no laundry facility. Bathroom was fairly clean and maintained. No dog park, but they do provide doggie bags. Activities: The westside area of Mount St. Helens was about 30-40 minutes away (Mount St. Helens Visitor Center at Silver Lake, Johnston Ridge Observatory, and Coldwater Lake Recreation Area). You can take a short trail to the restaurant Fire Mountain Grill (used to be called Patty's Place at 19 Mile House). The food/service wasn't the greatest, but you get a nice view of Toutle River. Access to swim/fish the Toutle River is 1/4 mile down the road. Turn right out of the campground and take a right on the first road. My little ones enjoyed swimming in the river and swinging on the rope swings into the water hung under the bridge. The center of the campground had a nice large grassy area to run around, a small plastic toddler slide, tether ball, horse shoes, a rundown basketball hoop, a balance beam, and a sandbox. No military discount offered. Current rate was $28 per night for full hook-ups. Must have cash or check! No credit cards accepted. Overall, it was a nice little campground; however, the long-term residents were very off-putting. Some of their trailers were old and unkept some people looked to be living in cargo type trailers even. This is the main reason for the lower rating. We didn't realize when booking that it was so far from some of the trails we were interested in doing during our visit. For example, Ape Cave was over two hours away. Next time I would choose to stay at a campground more centrally located (maybe near Kalama), but if you just want to see the mountain and do a few hikes nearby than this is your place.

Merrill Lake Campground is a pretty awesome spot. Awesome enough that I honestly hemmed and hawed…read moreover whether to even add it to Yelp. Although my better Yelp humanitarian judgment has won out here, I still hope you read this, enjoy it, and camp somewhere else. Why? This little campground only has about 9 sites. It's free but you need a discovery pass. There is a camp host and there are surprisingly clean pit toilets on-site, but no potable water. The sites fill up fast in the summer time, but have a 3-day limit that's enforced by the friendly but vigilant camp host. I don't want it to fill up even faster now that I'm sharing this, since I do plan to hit this spot at least one more time before summer is over. There are no reservations (first-come, first-served) and the campsites are designed to work for larger groups - some of them could easily fit 7-10 tents. Each site is spaced decently well away from the others, and offers a picnic table, fire ring and places to pitch. The sites don't really offer views of the lake, they're set back in the trees, but there's plenty of shade Not too dusty, but some sites are heavy with gravel. While it's car camping, you don't drive right in to your site but park in a common lot, then walk in (the farthest you'll have to walk is about 50 yards). So no car noise up close to your site. This little campground sits just by Merrill Lake, a nice smaller lake that does not (thankfully) allow motorized boats and fishing is restricted to fly only, catch + release. For these reasons the water is calmer, cleaner, and dotted with fly fishermen and specific times of the day. At the mid-July mark the lake was warm and clear... perfect for swimming and canoeing. There are some excellent trout holes around the edges of the lake, however I'm not a fly fisherman and don't believe in torturing anything I'm not able to then eat (so catch + release is not for me). However I can see how this would be an attractive spot for a fly fisherman. This campsite is a great place to get away from PDX. Only about 1h 35m in no traffic, and the drive (especially if you come up the 503) is a nice one. Very pastoral, windy road. Get out of your house this summer and sleep under the stars. Just do it at some other campsite since this one is mine.

We stayed for two nights-three days last weekend for my niece's birthday. We usually stay at a…read morecampsite at Lake Berryessa in California, but most of my family now lives in Vancouver so we opted for somewhere near there. Plus, the lakes in California don't even amount to the lakes in Washington/Oregon. My parents went to Merrill Lake Campground on Thursday to secure us a spot which was first come first serve. They managed to get a campsite (#4) that had a direct path to the lake (not the day use where most of the guests would walk to)! It was really big, the only downside was the hill which isn't ideal with little kiddos. Also, that we couldn't have a campfire due to Washington's high alert for fires. It just wasn't the same. You do need a discovery pass which we got at a store that was twelve minutes from the campsite- Lakeside Deli. It was $11 for a day use. The scenery was amazing. It wasn't hot at all where the campsite was. It was surrounded by trees. The water was so clear and clean. The weather was perfect once we made it out of the campsite, through the trail, and to shore. Oh god, and the drive. The drive up the mountain was the scariest I've ever seen. It was beautiful, but so scary. It was a great stay (for free at that!). I recommend this lake!

All types of camping including Full RV Hookups and or primitive tent camping. Well...that's where I fit in. I was looking for a simple/easy/casual place to pitch my tent for the evening and this Gust Backstrom City Park absolutely delivered!! Just to give some background info.... For me, I was coming from Mount Rainier National Park and heading south towards Mount Saint Helens. Gust Backstrom was right in between both these landmarks...though it's situated a lot closer to Mt. Rainier (being only 30 miles away) and about 118 from Mt. Saint Helens. I discovered Gust Backstrom through the APP on my phone called CAMPENDIUM. I highly recommend for all the adventurers out there to download this free App and wherever you're located throughout the USA...it'll provide and list all the available campsites within a radius that's appropriate for where you're headed. After finishing while my wonderful exploration of Mount Rainier, I was tired and ready to find an affordable campsite to sleep for the night. When I found Gust Backstrom...I was hoping they'd offer online booking/reserving campsites ahead of time. Unfortunately that wasn't an option. So to make sure I'd grab a spot...I quickly arrived in late afternoon, parked my car and went inside the office to book a site. I was here during the month of August on a random Thursday and thankfully I had no problem getting a site for my tent. It was $15 to book the night. I then had to fill out a form and the lady behind the desk just asked which site I'd like to choose. I picked an area underneath a tree sort of near the playground. And I was good to go! Yes, woohoo! I had a place to get a good night's rest. Other Prices Included.... - Day Use Vehicle - $5 (Friday through Sunday) - Full RV Hookup - $32 - Power and Water - $30 - Tent only - $15 - Extra Car at Site - $5 - Sewer Dump - $10 - Covered Picnic Area - $40 - Open for reservations year round. - Payments are by cash, check or money order. They say - NO CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED. As the sun started to set, I put my tent together and got ready to relax. I had a small grill with me to barbecue for dinner, though there weren't any pits available for lighting a fire. Surrounding my campsite was a playground for kids, a picnic area for eating and best of all.....at this picnic area were working electrical outlets to charge my phone and generator! That was awesome! Also good being here was that cell phone reception worked fine. I was able to connect to the internet from my phone. This may not matter to some people but....there were some soft grassy areas to my campsite good for setting my tent upon. This way the ground would be nice and fluffy as I laid down. Most campgrounds I visited on my road trip were based near hard, dirt ground....difficult to get comfortable on. If I had to say anything disappointing about Gust Backstrom, it's that there weren't any showers available and they only had vault toilets (though some RV Parks and campgrounds out there do offer all the amenities, lol). So...although it wasn't a big deal...had there been a shower and bathroom I would have been thrilled. Still I was extremely satisfied with the conditions and surroundings. Before I went to sleep for the evening...I sat in my beach chair and looked up at the sky. It was a beautiful summer night with plenty of stars out, very pleasant for appreciating being outdoors. Overall, Gust Backstrom City Park was a fantastic place to camp out for the night. Had I stayed in this city of Morton, Washington longer...I happily would have returned for a second evening. The following day I kept traveling towards Mount Saint Helens. Finally, to everyone out there...I urge you to download this App called - Campendium on your phone! When traveling spontaneously or on a cross country trip like I was...this convenient little Gulf Backstrom Park will be easily accessible for camping and spending the night in nature.
