The doctors I have dealt with have provided good care. However, the office is disorganized and dysfunctional. If there is an office manager they are incompetent and if there isn't one they need to hire a competent one. Because of the office I wouldn't recommend this practice. read more

"Exit through the gift shop" as if to say I have learned that talented doctors and health staff are knowledgeable and wonderful. However I see a theme in the industry is to drive you to the frame shop. My experience working with them to fulfill my prescription with my own frames made me a sub par customer. The industry makes it cash from selling frames with 10 year old style frames to pick from. I have been going to this location for 3 and a half years, I never got one complaint. Then my wife and myself was in a very bad rear end car accident, I had a very bad concussion. So DR. Ditti Phillips said I was rude and released me from the practice while in a week I was having a full hip replacement. I was not rude at all, Dr Phillips committed patient Abandonment and Negligence. She is legally not able by LAW to release me during a pending surgery per The Board Of N.C. Medical. She should be fired and her license revoked. She never gave me any refills of medication which she is by Law to also do. This place is run down and very unorganized and new workers every time you go, they cant manage good help at all. Appointment set for 11 a.m. I left the office at 11.53 a.m. and told the office worker that waiting for 53 minutes was a joke and their customer service was awful. The arrogance that they value my time so little is so obvious. No one even thought to come in and tell me how much longer my wait was to be. Made an appointment for my husband on 2/25, but he was too ill to keep the appointment. I called several times to try and cancel the appointment, but the phone rang off the hook. He ended up going to the hospital by ambulance the next day. Yesterday we received a letter saying we did not keep our last scheduled office visit and that we need to make every attempt to cancel or reschedule when we have an appointment. I have already tried to call them twice today to tell them what happened, and the phone rang off the hook again! A letter should not be mailed if you're not going to answer your phone! read more

Ok here is the deal with this group. My wife and I have gone here for two years. With the exception of Dr. Filiberto Colon who is a competent gastroenterologist and took care of us as patients, the medical group as a whole in our opinion is a unmitigated steaming pile of dung. If you have records sent from a hospital or other doctor they go into a giant bin and rarely if ever get to your file so when you go see a provider they have no records even though you have called to confirm they received them before your appointment. you always wait even when the lobby is empty. If your wife has a UTI the process has been come pick up a test hat from the lab to pee in and return it, then its sorry no medication until they do an exam to review the results so lets leave her in pain and hope it doesn't spread to her kidneys while you wait a week for an appointment to say "you have a UTI" here is a script which you knew the first time you called Dr. Jay Weston Gross for help. This has happened more then once. We have a PPO but somehow you can't make an appointment with a specialist as the hospital discharge order state you have to first have a primary care doctor here just like a HMO then hope they refer you to a the needed specialist. So two years in the semi competent general doctor Jay Weston Grosse finally gets us an appointment with a specialist that we have needed to see since the beginning. Once you do have a appointment... for example to do a test in the office. They have to date 100% left us sitting in the waiting room for 15-20 minutes hoping you don't catch covid as the temperature desk personal are missing from the desk and the hand sanitizer wall sconces are empty more then half the time. The only exception was today when the we ran 8 minutes late due to a hack attack on a US gas pipeline that created lines of 8-10 cars to fill up. Even though we called ahead and told them "hey we are running about 10 minutes behind is that a problem and they tell us no its fine see you in ten minutes. (since you have waited months for the test) Dr. Vavra's staff marks you no show and when you get there says sorry reschedule we know you called but its up to the boss. That was the last of many straws so we dumped the group as a whole as our medical needs can not be met by this parochial medical group who takes years to ameliorate your medical issues if they even have the skill which is questionable at best. I guess they feel they are the only option in town and while they are correct that they are the boss at the facility, you and I are the bosses of our own healthcare and I urge you to be vigilant and cautious of the level of care provided here. This place had been bought and sold and is going through a lot of issues. Everyone seems confused and the staff is different every time I come here. If you need basic medical care, it's okay. I think urgent care is better but they have a lot of limitations. If you need more specialized care you should go to Asheville. read more

Dr. Lafata is the best doctor I have ever had. I have two serious illnesses, and his care of me has always been top quality. I see two other specialists there, Dr. Play and Amanda Morgan, who have also been exceptional. I have zero complaints about my medical care at Mountain Medical in Clyde. This would be a 5 star review if it were not for the office staff. Pre-covid, the office was bustling office staff, and things got done. Post covid, the office staff has remained minimal. My understanding is there has been a change in management, resulting in a high turnover of office staff. The result has been less than steller. Due to my illnesses, there is a lot of paperwork that needs to be sent from my doctors to other outside specialists and other agencies. My doctors will immediately do the paperwork, and then it disappears in the office black hole, never to be sent or the wrong paperwork gets sent. I certainly hope this situation gets remedied in the near future. So, there are 5 stars for the doctors, but I will have to drop a star due to office staff problems. read more

Price gouging at its finest. If you have shared coverage or insurance, they will bill at least 5 times LESS to them while charging the patient inflated charges and then act as if their 40% (self pay) + 20% (if paid at time of service, which they do not disclose at the time of service) is some great gift. Even with those percentage "breaks", the patient is still paying up to 5 times the amount a company would be charged. The individuals at the desk are absolutely clueless robots. They tell you the same thing repeatedly as if they cannot think for themselves. Trump signed Executive Order 13877 with these thieves in mind, I think. There is no transparency and they are ripping people off hand over fist! I am reporting them to the Consumer Affairs of Raleigh. Hopefully they can and will do something as this is out of hand. I wish I could give 0 stars. I called to make my husband an appointment because his knee cap is on top of his leg & he's in pain. I was told a date & time (which was a week & 4 days later), & then the receptionists hung up on me before I could even confirm what she had just told me. She was very rude! My husband goes to the appt today & was told the appt was cancelled & they wouldn't see him because he hasn't been to the doctor in several years & his injury wasn't severe enough. They could have let us know they cancelled the appt. before he drove all the way up there. However, they was able to send me an email confirmation of the appt being made. I swear that this place did not take my dad as a patient due to his strange, ethnic surname (ie.not "Smith" or "Jones"). Doctor that I saw could care less. Was yawning during the appointment. (Should I take up tap dancing?) Building is hard to negotiate. I felt like a rat in a maze upon leaving. I accidently entered a private office. Map on wall is needed. When I inquired if my husband could become a patient as well, I was told to fill out some forms. I did so, and handed them back. Fast forward a few months later when my husband had a semi-emergency (bad spider bite?): I call to make an appointment, tell them that hub has already been approved paper-wise, and the chick tells me that she has no data on hub. I have been a patient of Dr. Najeeb Ghaussy for a little over a year. I have several autoimmune diseases, one of which is quite rare and difficult to treat, as well as a number of other problems that are within the realm of Rheumatology. Dr. Ghaussy has been patient, understanding and helpful from the beginning. I did have the usual three month wait to get my first appointment, which is the norm for every specialist that I have seen for the last ten years. Dr. Ghaussy and Stacy, his Physician's Assistant or Nurse (not sure), is wonderful. She is careful, attentive, follows up with you on tests and makes sure to return your call the same day, if possible, but has always called me back within a day. This is important because my condition is constantly changing and can become life threatening very quickly. She gives me very good information and discusses my calls with Dr. Ghaussy, often resulting in his request to see me. Dr. Ghaussy is careful and doesn't whip out his prescription pad and send you out the door. He discusses your problems and symptoms and actually asks your opinion, when appropriate. He is not "full of himself" like some doctors and recognizes that he is there to help his patients. The same is true for Stacy. After all, the doctor's worth isn't just the doctor, but also the quality of his staff and I am very pleased with both of them. read more

Have no complaints. They didn't get second place as the best Medical Care in Haywood County with those bad reviews. They are the best. Yes they have a staff turnover a lot but that is not unusual. I wish I could give less than one star! I was a patient of this practice. Office staff do not return calls. Even when I had a reaction to a medication - she said if I was having any issues breathing to call 911 - otherwise the nurse would call when she had a minute......she never did. I called & left a second message the next day - no call back. I am not the only one - several members of my family - some elderly - were (no longer) patients & had the same issues. I was referred to the Rheumatologist at this place 2 weeks ago and I still cannot get an appointment. I have called there several times and left a message. no one bothered to return my call. I am in a lot of pain and told them that. I had to go to the ER because I was in so much pain. I went to Mountain Medical this AM to try and get seen but they told me that they haven't gotten all the paper work yet from my family doctor. The nurse at my family doctor's office called them and they haven't called her back either. After all this, I think I will drive to Asheville from where I live in Waynesville. Had an awful experience here today!!! My mother has been going here for the last few years, twice a year. Drove her for her appointment today, and when we got here, they said they didn't have her down for an appointment!! My mother had unfortunately left her card at home, but I saw it and it was for today! The woman refused to see my mother today, even though we drove from Franklin NC and it was THEIR fault!!! The woman did agree to get my mother's prescription refilled, but later on when we got home, there was a message on the machine from Sherry saying that next time you need a refill, you need an appointment. Don't be a walk in. Excuse me!!! My mother DID have an appointment and SHE WASN'T SEEN BY ANYONE!!!! To top it all off, SHERRY implied in the message that my mother was a drug addict!!!! How caring.
