Paid $600 for a home inspection report. It was a…read morelong-distance transaction, and I never got to see the home before the purchase went through, so I was relying on this and the other inspection reports I got for the house to tell the story of anything I should be concerned about with the home. Long story short, the inspection Joel Haraldson provided me for my 133-year-old home told me nothing. Nothing. No decent photos, no paragraphs of details about the house, just a few random photos with no context and a few misspelled sentences about a few minor issues with the house. Terrible. I showed Haraldson's report to a local contractor who I had out to look at the foundation. The contractor laughed, used the word "ridiculous" and told me to get my money back. Got to the house and found dozens of problems within the first day, any of which would have been noticed by a home inspection professional with even a modicum of interest in doing his job. Instead of hiring this guy, buy a camera for $100 and give it and $50 to a high school kid with the request to take some pictures and provide his opinion of the house, and I'm sure he would give you a way more competent and useful report than what Mr. Haraldson gave me for my $600. And you've saved $450.

Mark may be a nice man but he definitely isn't a good home inspector. After owning my home for…read moreabout 9 months, found evidence of ongoing water damage in my master bath. I crawled underneath my house (as did mark) and found evidence of rust and leaks that Mark never even mentioned. This is stuff that was going on for years and was easily detected by an inexperienced new homeowner. Mark doesn't use a moisture meter which indicates how much moisture is in the wood and if he had he could have told us what we needed to know about the condition of the house we we're buying. I do not recommend this company to anyone looking to buy a home. We also learned the door to our garage isn't fire-rated, another thing he missed. Here's some pictures of the mess we are now dealing with that we purchased thanks to Mark. Never hire a home inspector in HumCo who doesn't use moisture readers- it's like walking into a huge financial obligation completely blind.

They do wonderful work at perfectly reasonable prices and won't try to sucker their clients. Here is a sample of what we have had them do and it just keeps growing... Shawn resolved an electrical problem in three minutes that other electricians were estimating would take days. Shawn put in railings for our stairs and made a gorgeous mantle for our fireplace. Shawn also put up security lights for us. Shawn and Ryan replaced two broken down old windows with great new ones that are energy efficient. Shawn built a fantastic custom closet and laundry room cabinets for us that make the laundry room much more pleasant to be in and very functional and adjustable. We even had them build us a custom captains bed frame for my 6'8" tall hubby with storage drawers. Currently Shawn is repairing my Mom's back door and our gate that broke in the wind yesterday and tomorrow he'll be coming back to discuss a patio and garage project as well as fix some smoke alarms. I wish Shawn had been our home inspector because he immediately saw the issues we discovered only after we moved in. So now we are using his skills and knowledge to make our family homes better.
