First time ever checking into a treatment center and I was terrified. The staff there made you feel really comfortable from the start. They give you a full tour of the property which is pretty big and nice. You'll be assigned a roommate close to your age. There's lots to do and plenty of things to keep you busy and occupied. The group sessions and really educational and informative. Think this place usually holds around 125 other people at any given time so it's a community of people, from different parts of the country. Beds are comfy, rooms are clean, laundry mat in every building, wifi and cable tv in every room. MSR is really a great place for recovery and treatment. The staff and medical team are really nice and friendly. The property itself it clean and modern. The food it actually pretty good and the kitchen staff are cool. It's a good atmosphere being in the mountains with pikes peak right there and a fishing pond on-site. I would recommend MSR to anyone.

Deeply Unsafe, Disorganized Experience at Wood Violet (Sunshine Behavioral Health)…read moreMy stay at Wood Violet Recovery, part of Sunshine Behavioral Health, was the most disorganized and unsafe mental health experience I've had. Medications were lost multiple times, not secured properly, and undocumented from day 1--refused until 10pm despite arrival at 11am. No 15-minute checks during first 72 hours as promised. Staff sarcastically pushed nicotine despite my quit attempt. Depression rated 9/10 got zero intervention; no one-on-one therapy in 6 days. Groups were unstructured and unsafe (no response to suicide talk), led by unlicensed facilitators. Providers dismissed my pharmacogenetic tests, allergy, and OCD history; one laughed about side effects, saying "just take it at night." I left feeling ignored, on edge, and worse off. Avoid Wood Violet and Sunshine facilities--seek anywhere else for competent care. CEO Chad Daugherty's leadership has allowed this systemic disorganization across the brand to continue.

Someone close to me entered Wood Violet's Mental Health Residential Program in crisis, expecting a…read moresafe, structured environment based on its advertised services: daily DBT-based group therapy, regular individual therapy, psychiatric medication management, and consistent safety monitoring. Their six-day stay, ending in self-discharge due to inadequate care, fell far short of those promises. Medication failures started day one. They checked in at 11:00 AM Wednesday but saw no provider. At 9:00 PM, staff withheld essential meds without approval; a 10:00 PM call revealed the meds were misplaced. Supplements went missing twice more. Other residents reported similar issues, with no reliable med list for nurses--who often asked the patient for their own regimen and dosages. Online portal errors persisted even after leadership "corrections." No individual therapy sessions occurred. Group therapy lacked DBT structure: skills taught inconsistently, facilitators unprepared for high-risk talks like unmoderated suicide discussions. A promised "new curriculum" was just DVDs and repetitive off-topic content. Safety checks failed--15-minute monitoring in the first 72 hours never happened, despite severe anxiety and depression. Staff dismissed concerns: "just feel shitty for a week" for missing meds; "you backed them into a corner" for an allergy disclosure. The environment mismatched marketing: videos showed a peaceful pool (reconfirmed pre-check-in), but it was drained. Their room smelled moldy. Escalated issues got assurances but no change: contradicting providers, unavailable therapists, missed follow-ups. At $700+/day, this didn't justify the cost. Wood Violet cannot be recommended based on this experience.

The facility needs some cleaning up and the food was rough but all in all I was so blessed to have had the opportunity to come here to get better. Special shout out to Em, my case manager, and Dr. G. You guys save lives.

If I could give this place a zero, I would. Let's see where to start...Meghann (yes, with two n's)…read morethe "therapist" is unprofessional, she talks about all the other therapists and how badly corporate is run. I never got any time with her and when I did her responses were all of, "Yeah" "I agree" "Good idea" - she is worthless, you'll get better feedback from an inanimate object. She had the chance to deescalate a situation between an abusive BHT (male, Hispanic Jamie) and myself and she did the exact opposite. The BHT was historically known as aggressive, power tripping, women hating, hostile and threatening towards the clients and one particular day he was all in my face accusing me of something that I didn't even do, and I spoke back to him exactly the way he was speaking to me. Least to say I voluntarily discharged early because she came at me in an accusing manner, stripped me of my offsite pass and did not want to hear my side of the situation nor investigate this BHT. I cancelled all my additional services with PLR because of this incident, I'll give my money to an agency with integrity. The clinical person Kari is worthless too - leaned on her to complete admin work that was never done, the left doesn't know what the right hand is doing there. The photos depicted on their website look nothing like the real thing, everything is falling apart, dirty and poorly maintained, see pics of my room below. Nursing was known to give clients the wrong medications, as a result some clients were falling asleep at the beginning of the day. The food is disgusting, void of any nutritional value although Nursing and their educational content are completely inconsistent. During the Thanksgiving holiday they had no staff present and were subjected to doing arts and crafts all week, it was a joke, like we were in 6th grade. I was supposed to have therapy twice a week, PLR was short-staffed in addition to being money hungry, they were maxed out with patients and I never received therapy of any kind, CBT or EMDR. I will be taking this up and disputing my final balance with Cigna. Most of the clinicians were good but some (Rob/Cindy) were known to talk openly in class about certain groups of people being improperly wired, telling patients they would relapse, addressing gay people them as f*gs, continuous cursing and derogatory language often offending different groups of people. Do not send your loved ones here! It is a poorly run facility that should be audited more often and investigated.

It is expansive, clean, modern, and comfortable, in a beautiful pastoral setting near vail, colorado. It has virtually every modern treatment modality. They offer transcranial magnetic stimulation. They offer stellate ganglion blocks, they offer ketamine treatment and they offer EMDR. They even have horses. Sensory, deprivation chambers, indoor and outdoor pools, and hot tubs, art therapy, a world class gym. Great food. I only interacted with the veterans and First Responders treatment crew, but they seemed Knowledgeable, genuinely caring and competent.

What I got was not what I paid for, nor what I expected. Did I get a beautiful location? Yes. Did I get my room cleaned and my bed made every day? Yes, and that was nice! Plus, my laundry was done once a week, which was great! Did I make some great friends? Yes! However, did I get signed up for TMS? No! Did I get all of the ketamine sessions that I paid extra for? No! By the time that they put me on the schedule, I paid for 4, but only got 3 because they scheduled me for my 4th one day before my exit, which, for those of you who understand a psychedelic hangover, should have never happened! Did I get TMS, which I had asked for from the very beginning, numerous times? No! By the time they finally listened to me, it was too late! Did I get a highly experienced therapist? No! I got a therapist whose last job was as a high school counselor, and who was so bad that people would literally walk out of her classes, and if they saw that she was teaching the class before it started, they would turn around and walk away! That was who I got assigned as a therapist! She sucked and was too busy reciting her favorite author's quotes to listen to anything that I was saying! My 60 years of anguish went unheard! Then I was forced to confront my therapist and tell her how I did not want her to be my therapist anymore! Instead of being understanding, she started listing off her education! For someone who struggles with severe anxiety, this was a nightmare that sent me into a massive attack! I finally got switched to a new therapist, who was great, but only got one 15-minute EMDR session before I was leaving! Was Dr. Tammy Ramano, the head of APN Lodge in Edwards, CO, aware of everything that happened to me? Yes! Did she care enough to make it right? NO! Having my room cleaned, bed made, and clothes washed was nice. Being in a beautiful area was nice. Making some new friends was nice. Was that what I expected, wanted, or needed, after paying 20K, plus insurance? ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT! Do they seem to care about making things right? ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT! I did see people getting the treatment that I had needed and asked for, but unless you are a squeaky wheel, don't expect to get "World Renowned" care! Sincerely, Jill "devastated" Story
