I'm surprised at some of these reviews. I went to the substance abuse side and had a great experience. I actually liked the food and no complaints about the accommodations. It was an experience. And for me a very positive one. The staff was great. My only complaint was the amount of time it took to see the provider upon arrival and get my prescription medications. This is the only rehab I've been to but I loved it and was homesick when I left. read more

Great phone staff, but almost no real collaborative support for family reintegration or clarification or accountability for patients. It was a space to avoid life problems and forming connections (sexual and otherwise) with other addicts, all of whom relapsed within the first week of discharge, enabling one another with connections they made within this facility. Staff paid no attention to family concerns even after risk factors were brought to their attention. No ongoing support or transitional care provided. An already struggling family was placed in a dangerous situation after patient was discharged after repeatedly dismissing concerns from spouse and children. An assault was also witnessed inside this facility, after which a patient was seen being pressured into a car by another patient with no attempts to check on her well-being. Treatment appears to consist of increasing entitlement of those struggling with substance abuse without giving them the tools they need to confront their problems in the real world and maintain sobriety, while allowing already struggling and hopeful families to fall into medical debt in the process. My son had two trips to Mountain Springs within two years. He treated it like a spa. He was released this past Sunday with zero exit plan. There was never a family call. I asked for this multiple times. Last night, just a few days after spending 90 days here, he tried to kill himself. If you are looking for a place to hide and spend time fishing and swimming then head on over. If you are wanting to find a rehab that will help your child heal and address the family as a unit please find another place. I work in a rehab program and have spent over twenty years helping others to heal and plan for the future. There has to be an aftercare program. Each day needs to be planning for a healthy future. This is not the rehab for that programming. read more

Mountain Springs Recovery was an extremely upsetting and stressful experience. They freely bill insurance for whatever they decide is "necessary," then refuse to clearly explain the charges. I was billed an outrageous amount of money for services I never agreed to or was committed to, and when I asked for clarification, I was stonewalled. One staff member, Joe, was consistently rude and dismissive, repeatedly asserting that "he runs this place" instead of addressing legitimate concerns. At one point, when I asked whether I could attend a medically mandated follow-up appointment, I was told that a one-hour session with my so-called therapist was more important than my physical health. That response alone speaks volumes. Throughout my stay, I received conflicting and incorrect information from multiple staff members. No one seemed to know what they were doing, and communication was practically nonexistent. Patients are treated with little to no respect, and concerns are brushed off rather than addressed. The conditions only made things worse. The facility was consistently filthy, and the food was barely edible, closer to dog treats than meals meant to support recovery. It's not surprising that this place is only about a quarter full. If you are using insurance, there are far better facilities that will treat you with dignity, transparency, and basic human respect. Mountain Springs Recovery left me feeling taken advantage of, disrespected, and genuinely worse off. I would strongly urge anyone considering this place to look elsewhere unless you want what should be a healing experience to become one of the worst experiences of your life. read more

Dealing with Mountain Springs is one of the worst experiences of my life. They will tell you whatever it takes to get you in the door and, once you are discharged, they will squeeze you for all of the money they think they can get. There is nothing transparent about MSR's billing. I tried to accommodate MSR and get them more money from the insurance company, but I was told that the appeal needs to come from MSR. I told MSR months ago that, if they want more money, they need to appeal to the insurance company. They never lifted a finger to do so. I guess it's easier to beat up on former patients for money than to deal with insurance companies, but if MSR was really dealing with me in good faith, they would have filed the appeal. It's clear that fighting with MSR over what I may or may not owe them is going to be a long-term project for me. I know MSR's damage control is going to reply and say whatever, but look at the other reviews and remember that you have been warned. read more

Most of the staff are genuine. Eddie is great. But unless you come from money then dont go here. All they talk about from the day you come in is aftercare. And how important it is. I've been here almost 60 days have a couple weeks left and they have setup zero for me. Been begging for a psych eval since ive been here. It says duel diagnosis. Ya its not. They will throw every med they have at you hoping something sticks. But its not a duel diagnosis facilty as advertised. They are so short staffed as well so dont expect thrm to go to far outta thier way for you for anything. Cause tryst me they wont. Sure what im trying to find is a married couples sober house. But these people are of zero help. Like I said unless you come from money there are certain staff members that once they know you dont dont give you the time of day. If your looking for a dry out with a swimming pool and a rehab romance then by all means come here. But if you really want help go somewhere else.​ read more

If I could give this place more than five stars, I would. I have a week left of the mental health program. I've already been here for over a month. I didn't think it would help as much as it has when I first got here. I was scared, and I was worried that this program would do nothing. This program did absolutely everything. I've been finally able to genuinely smile over the little things for the first time since I was a kid. The staff is absolutely fantastic, I cannot express it enough. Everybody here makes this place perfect. I feel better. I feel like myself again. If you are looking for a mental health program that will genuinely help, I highly reccomend this place. It dug me out of a pit I couldn't climb out of on my own, and I will forever be thankful for this opportunity I was given. Thank you so much. First time ever checking into a treatment center and I was terrified. The staff there made you feel really comfortable from the start. They give you a full tour of the property which is pretty big and nice. You'll be assigned a roommate close to your age. There's lots to do and plenty of things to keep you busy and occupied. The group sessions and really educational and informative. Think this place usually holds around 125 other people at any given time so it's a community of people, from different parts of the country. Beds are comfy, rooms are clean, laundry mat in every building, wifi and cable tv in every room. MSR is really a great place for recovery and treatment. The staff and medical team are really nice and friendly. The property itself it clean and modern. The food it actually pretty good and the kitchen staff are cool. It's a good atmosphere being in the mountains with pikes peak right there and a fishing pond on-site. I would recommend MSR to anyone. read more

Pretty okay experience in my opinion. All the staff are nice and friendly for the most part. The nurses on the other hand are a hit and miss, they can either be extremely helpful, understanding, and caring or they can be rude, ignorant, and super unhelpful. They will fight you to the end to make sure getting your medication is a pain in the rear, and some of the nurses will totally ignore the rules and not want to give you medication you need. You can tell for some of them, it's just a job to them, they don't care about the personal struggles you're experiencing. The kitchen staff are very nice, the food can go from delicious to pretty mediocre. For the amount of money you're paying to stay here, you'd think they'd have more to offer instead of having ham for 5 days in a row. Like I said, the staff here are very nice, but communication between them or certain departments is horrible. Sometimes it seems like they don't have a clue on who is running the place. But overall it's a nice experience. read more

Zero if I could!! I just left Mountain Springs Recovery a couple of weeks ago for another facility. I won't say what my length of stay there was but I can tell you it was over 30 days. There are plenty of options in Monument, CO to go with other than Sunshine Behavioral Health and I would highly recommend looking elsewhere. There is a reason they don't have many reviews and it's because you leave that place speechless! Add the positive reviews, it's because they let you keep your phone. The counselors are amazing...when they show up, as well as most of the staff. What I noticed is they are all burnt out. They are completely understaffed. If I was in their shoes, I would call in every day too until I found a new job. Shame on you Sunshine Behavioral Health for only wanting what's best for the bigwig's pockets. BTW Brian Lockard, the Executive Director sure looks awesome walking around the facility with his Dolce Gabana wardrobe. That's right, head to toe, glasses to shoes, DG everything. Glad his pockets are padded while the people/insurance companies are paying for subpar treatment and underpaid staff. What do you get! Shit food, stacked groups because of call-ins, lots of calls to the paramedics, enforcement of ridiculous rules while turning a blind eye to things that effect the whole facility client wise. i would never rate this place .. The admissions people are straight up cons . they basically tell you whatever you want to hear to take your money .. not caring .. in any way . it could literally cost a human being their life .. in fact the admissions man who did my intake actually showed up at the facility .. lied about doing my intake ..to my face .... who ever is behind or running this organization needs to realize .. Lying to people about what their program is about ... NATE.. is basically in this industry taking peoples chances of living much less staying sober .. paying anyone 25000 to throw someone in a dirty .. quite uncomfortable badly refurbished hotel room .. untrained .. abusive employees .. ten dollars per head a day for food for over 100 people .. no program or education on this matter of any kind is .. well speaks for itself .. i kept asking .. trying to leave .. asking to be placed in a higher level of care .. just to have them cancel my therapy appts .. no outside facility activities ... being bullied by staff and other clients .. kidnapping my dog of 14 years with the understanding he was going to be well taken of and have other dogs to play with so i could just focus on myself .. well what they didn't tell me was they weren't going to tell me where my dog was and when i was getting him back ... they held me their against my will or i would never have seen my dog again .. serena saunders along with my therapist melody both lied to me ... of course they also wanted to ensure they would be keeping their 2500 large . the last two weeks i was there i did not sleep eat or sleep ... the damage this caused is .. unspeakable i was coerced into signing two documents .. one with pawsitive recovery and the other with the so called therapist melody .. serena did not return my dogs sid lead and special harness for his injuries or brand new special sweater that took quite some time to find ... there are no words for this ... melody even tried to convince me my lhasa apso. of 14 years was happier with a perfect stranger .. i would jump in front of a bus for this dog ..my best friend sid .. i honestly do not know .. how i survived this .. may i ask mountain springs ? how long do you believe you will be able to keep getting away with what you are doing to people you are literally stealing money and apparently dogs from them as well ..you care nothing of your clients actually getting the help they need .. you are literally making your money .. on a total lie read more

The place is all about the almighty dollar. I was there for 30 days. The poor staff is woefully underpaid... so it is a revolving door. The young women try their best but are so stressed out being understaffed and paid 17 an hour. Hah Try living on that in the Springs Also some incoming patients are dangerous and have no business in a free roaming campus with no professional security. God bless the hard working under paid staff. I do not recommend from personal experience. read more

totally misrepresented themselves I paid $24,000 for 30 days and the food is worse than any jail you could imagine, most of the staff is awesome but it seems like one hand doesn't know what the other one is doing. you go to eat dinner they don't even have enough knives for the clients if you don't get there early you run out of desert which is OK because it's garbage anyway, The complex is a former Ramada inn that hasn't been updated since 1940, The meeting rooms don't even have enough chairs for the people to sit in, go anywhere else. read more
