(I will not name) at Veterinary MED SURG HOSP of Topeka stated that my Dog did not need a Diagnostic Sonogram after he examined my Dog! I was told that an infection was my Dogs issue. (No doubt he had that as well). After treating my Dog who had not eaten for 3 days sent me home with pills and a can of Dog food. I worked with my Dog day & night for a week and he got worse. My Dog was weak and gasping for air. I went back to the first Veterinarian and It was obvious by Dog was in much distress. I had my Dog put to sleep to end his misery. Not two seconds after I let go of my Dog when he stopped breathing, Blood ran out of his nostrils. My Dog had a week of suffering with cancer and a Diagnostic Sonagram or Any other like device would of at least suggested CANCER! I do not have a lot of fancy words for the distress or the equipment that could have been used, but all I know is this facility let my Dog down and He suffered for a week!!! Not to mention the $511.00 wasted on incompetence! On the afternoon of 1/27/2023 (11 days after being seen by The Veterinary medical surgical Hospital of Topeka) I received the one and only follow-up call regarding how my Dog was doing! In the past I have received a call from a VET the later in the afternoon or the next day after a booster or Rabis shot!!! Be carful out there, not every Veterinarian facility has your Dogs Health and Wellbeing their top priority!

The staff was extremely helpful on the phone and GOT ME IN THE SAME DAY. This helped negate costs for an emergency vet tremendously. In the initial call they were extremely thoughtful with the emotions and logistics that comes with caring for your animal. My experience in the clinic was just as positive. The front desk people were warm and inviting. The veterinarian was extremely helpful with answering all my questions and helping to assist with the problem. I left the clinic feeling very supported. The clinic even went as far as to check up on my pet a few days after her appointment. These people CARE! I am so extremely impressed with the professionalism and how personable this clinic is.

Stone House was one of the few if not the only animal hospital open on Sunday, so I called them and rushed her right over. When I arrived, they got her right in for an examination, and within minutes had the diagnosis of her problem. She had collapsed trachea syndrome which is common in flat faced dog breeds because of their different respiratory system. I asked the doctor about my options while Buddha was sedated and given oxygen to relieve her labored breathing. After given my options I unfortunately made the decision to euthanize my poor Buddha to end her suffering. I had the option of an expensive surgery which was no guarantee to help Buddha, so I did the most humane thing in my opinion, and euthanized her. The doctor and staff were awesome, and let me be with her throughout the whole process. Yes, I cried like a child but knew this was the best course of action for Buddha. She was 14 years old when she passed and the staff made a paw print mold with her name and that days date on it for me to keep, plus they cremated her and put her ashes in an urn for me to keep. I of course approved all of this and it was fully discussed prior to them doing it. Though I'm a customer at another animal hospital in town, I want to thank everyone at Stone House Animal Hospital for all they did and taking such great care of Buddha that day. I will forever be grateful for the care, kindness, and love you showed both of us.

One of the biggest regrets I have ever had to harbor is making the choice to take my pet here. Stone house animal hospital has since swept under the rug all of their wrongdoings, but bringing them back into the light of day feels somewhat necessary. If it means one other pet parent will get to hold them longer than we did. In 2011 the 'former' owner and operator of this establishment was revealed to have been consistently violating veterinary practice standards in Kansas. While he was forced to step aside for only a one month period, the team behind him never faced any consequences. violations they made included: - Failure to maintain adequate patient records. - Unprofessional conduct. - Violating or attempting to violate any provision of the Kansas Veterinary Practice Act. - Failure to maintain minimum standards for veterinary practice and veterinary premises. - Allowing a nonlicensed individual to interfere with the veterinarian's practice and-or failure to provide adequate employee supervision. That being said, they have a history dating back to 2007 with multiple violations all impacting our pets. Even back in March 2010 it came out their offices had to have a civil citation and order of abatement for practicing human medicine on human patients, including several employees. Meaning that these unjust actions aren't just one sick individual - but a work place culture thriving at Stone House Animal hospital. This is further emphasized with another when in July 2010, the Kansas Board of Healing Arts issued an injunction against Carder from practicing medicine on humans. Further emphasizing that this cancer isn't just from one cruel vet in October, 2010, the Board of Veterinary Examiners received a complaint that a second vet was practicing medicine on humans at the clinic, specifically taking an X-ray of an injured 8-year-old child. A child!! Truly this establishment knows no boundaries. They may be under 'new management' (a giant vet conglomerate that doesn't care about anything but money, look into Amerivet if you feel so inclined), but the workplace culture has not and will not ever change so drastically as to truly care about your furry friends. This is my first and only comment on this platform. I beg of anyone who chooses to read it to please do their research before taking their beloved pets in. I wish I knew... If this is tldr; DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. PLEASE!!!!!!!!
