I thought this was a nice clinic. Everyone seemed kind and wonderful. We scheduled a Cherry eye surgery for our dog. The 3rd dog we have had to have this surgery preformed on. When she came out of surgery, it didn't look right to us at all. Well, let say it looked very different then then our other two dogs. The following day when Zenna went to finally got up to drink and eat some food, her leaning down to dog bowl all of a sudden her eye started to bleed badly. I got it to finally stop, I called the vet and left a message. Then later I brought her outside and as she was sniffing the grass to find her bathroom spot her eye started to hemorrhage. Just pouring out blood. We raced up to the Animal Hospital, where we found out the bleeding was coming from below the sutures, for those were still intact. So they stitched her whole eye closed to act like a bandage. I brought the ER bill to Mountain View Vet Clinic because obviously something happened during surgery and it was not a post surgery side effect, like the Dr claimed. Then he stated Zenna might have pawed or scratched at her eye. I said, possible, but she didn't and if she did, why would your sutures still be intact and the injury came from below it. The vet then said he is not going to reimburse us for the ER bill for his shotty surgery. Well, we will be collecting it in small claims for sure. So if you want unnecessary grief, someone who is not going to admit when they were wrong and your animal has to go through more pain. His surgery is subpar work and the owner himself will stiff you with the bill of his negligence then bring your animal here. I'm kidding, for the love of animals avoid this place. Super bummed because I have been bringing my animals to this vet clinic for about 3 years now, and their quality of staff has severely deteriorated. After many scheduling issues (for some reason its really difficult to find your customers by their names or phone numbers) and finally getting an exam in, my boyfriend took our dog to their clinic. Everything went fine after they spent 15 minutes trying to find our appointment. Afterwards, my boyfriend left and I remembered a flea medication I got my cat a while ago, and called them to see if they had it in stock. A woman answered. She puts me on hold, comes back and gives me the name and says she has it. I told her ok cool, my boyfriend took our dog for an exam this morning and is going to come back up and grab some, I wanted to make sure you had it since we live in Marysville. She assured me they did. So, boyfriend drives back up, and guess what? They don't have it. They don't even carry it. So I asked to speak with the lady who told me they did and all she could say was "sorry I'm new." I asked her why she said they had it when they didn't after I told her we were driving up so far. I brought my dog to mountain view about 7 weeks ago after moving to the area for a general check-in since we had recently moved to the area but also had a concern about his lymphnodes swelling up alarmingly over a couple of days. When we brought this concern up with Dr. Sargent he said cancer was "unlikely" and the test for it was "unnecessary" we were given a low dose of antibiotics for a 'possible infection' and that we needed to get a couple of his teeth pulled. Fast forward to this past Wednesday and we shows up for his tooth pulling and at that point there was some concern for cancer as his lymphnodes were still swollen. The lymphnodes are poked an a test is sent in. By Saturday my dog is barely responsive and I'm forced to take him to the emergency clinic in shoreline with their own oncology clinic. We get the call from mountain view confirming a our suspected cancer diagnosis while we are loading up the car for the long drive. As of today Tuesday my dog spent 2 nights in intensive care getting a huge battery of tests and 3000 dollars later I can now start my dogs 10,000 dollar treatment for lymphoma. On top of all of that, A urine test was taken by mountain views team during our first visit. I have this on paper in the records that were sent over to the emergency room. When confronted,, Dr Sergent said that the urine test was done the day he showed up for his teeth pulling appointment so this guy either doesn't know what's going on with his patients or lies when he is caught in a screw up either one is NOT GOOD!! The urine test showed my dog also had a urinary tract infection. We were told about this by the emergency vet after they viewed the records themselves. This also went untreated for 6 weeks. Thank you Dr Sargent and support staff for almost killing my dog and costing me 3000 dollars in emergency bills all because you thought a 150 dollar test wasn't necessary because you assumed we were poor and admitted that you thought we were worried about money when we spoke. My only concern when I show up to a veterinarian is my pets' health and well being. If you are concerned about your pet having a major illness do not go to mountain view veterinary clinic. read more

I recently took my female cat in for a wellness exam and vaccinations. Since she was a stray and hanging out in our neighborhood, I asked if Dr. Sargent could let me know how old she was and told him I didn't want her getting pregnant. He did a quick exam, unable to look at her teeth or determine her age but discussed his $500 fee for the spay surgery. The next day I made an appointment with another vet to get the spay surgery for $100. After dropping her off for the surgery, I was called and informed she had a green tattoo on her stomach which is a permanent maker that notifies all veterinarians and shelters that this cat has already had its spay surgery. I am disappointed this veterinarian did not take the time to check for the marking which is a standard set by the Association of Shelter Veterinarians. read more

The first time the doctor said yes she has a pregnancy, but the kitty was too small. Therefore, he can not see how many inside. he said you might have to do again the X-ray. That I can understand because the kitty was too small. The second time after the doctor did the X-ray and somethings for my cat, he said she will birth the baby after 2 weeks. It should be on July 6. On July 8, my cat did not birth the baby yet, and I called the clinic and asked does she ok because the doctor said the cat should be birth the baby on the last two ago, and they told me waited until July 10. On July 10, the cat is still not birth baby yet, and I called the clinic again. At this time they told me the doctor said should be birth to the baby on July 20 to 21. Unfortunately, on this day my cat is still not birth to the baby yet. I called the clinic again, and they told me the doctor said he is don't know when the cat will be birth baby. Also, they said the doctor recommend your cat do the X-ray and check again. I said how can the doctor said he doesn't know when the birth baby. they just said up to you to do the X-ray and check again. Mountain View Vet in Mount Vernon did an excellent job caring for my 12 year old dog. Several other vets in the area were booked out 1-3 weeks. Mountain View allows a few "emergency appointments" per day. Thank goodness we took this option ASAP, as our older dog ended up having a large mass in his paw. The Dr. at Mountain View was very efficient and communicated clearly our options and his recommendation. Our dog needed his toe removed ASAP due to the growing mass, and the Mountain View team did an excellent job caring for him and communicating with us throughout the process of surgery and recovery. We used to love this place and respect them very much but as time has passed, they have changed and not for the good. They charge soooo much more compared to before, they make you wait a lot longer to get in than before and Dr. Sargent hasn't been the same for a few years with us at least. The last straw was losing my dog earlier than we would have if Dr. Sargent would not have dismissed what I was telling him about my dog's symptoms. My dog passed because of it. Don't get me wrong I am grateful for what he has done for us in the past, but we just don't feel we can trust them with our fur babies anymore. To many negatives for us to ignore. My dog had many symptoms of heart failure, the same as his nephew who had heart failure and died from it a while before him. So I let Dr. Sargent know but I don't know why he didn't respond or do any test knowing this but there you go. I have always taken my pets to Mountain View Vet Clinic. Ken Baber, the origin veterinarian and owner, was like part of my family. Many dogs and cats saw their time in the honest, caring and affordable hands of Dr. Baber and his friendly staff. Fast forward a couple years... I take my dog back for an annual checkup, shots and flea meds as well as some usually cheap steroids for his autoimmune disease. I also take my two kittens for the usual shots, deworming and flea meds. Nothing special. Just the usual routine vet checkup for all three animals. I was approached by staff to consider purchasing TWO $500 cat plans for my kittens, which would cover the next round of shots as well as neuters. Although in the end this may be more affordable at their clinic than paying for each service individually, I declined. Christmas was around the corner, so there was no way I could drop a grand on two free kittens (who could very likely get eaten by a coyote the next day!). After taking care of all three pets in their ROUTINE appointments, I was absolutely shocked to get a bill for $750. Jaw dropped, I paid the bill and walked away, vowing to never return to that slimy vet clinic that would take that much money from me for simple pet services. To illustrate a comparable economic situation, past owner/vet Dr. Baber and his friendly staff kept my same dog with the autoimmune disease for a whole week 3 years back when he had an infection in his leg that burst and needed serious surgery, anesthesia, suturing, binding and immobility in order to heal. We were so worried about the price tag for all of this, and Dr. Baber understood our worries. He was able to provide all of those medical services for only $800. Yes, basically the same price that today will only get you some shots, parasite meds, and a vial of steroids for your dog and kitties. Unbelievable. I encourage you to find some place more affordable. Although pets are super special to us, their medical bills should not be more expensive than services for humans. read more

This clinic is amazing! They have excellent customer service, Dr Sargent is incredibly knowledgeable and patient, and their service despite COVID still feels very personal and worth the price! I admit I'm not the easiest client to deal with because I have worked in vet clinics and have dedicated the past 7yrs to training dogs so I'm knowledgeable enough to be difficult and have really high standards. I also have 4 Australian Cattle Dogs so they themselves aren't always the best patients as they are very sensitive and quirky about strangers handling them. Dr Sargent (and the vet assistants/techs) approached them with calm confidence which was so nice because I've had people in the past act skittish and fearful, expecting them to be nippy, which has caused my sensitive dogs to be nervous. I know the breed can be difficult in a vet clinic setting (I've experienced it during my time as a vet assistant) so I don't blame people for being cautious but it has negatively effected my dogs experience at the clinic but that's a thing of the past now that we found Mountain View! Dr Baber is the greatest. He is so kind and caring, Lulu has been seeing him for 7 years now. Even when we lived in Seattle we would drive to Mt Vernon because he is worth it. She has been there for 2 surgeries and an infection that kept her overnight for 4 days. Knowing how precious she is to me, he called each day with updates. The costs at the clinic are probably 1/2 price of what you may pay in a big city. A 4 day stay with multiple IV's was less than $400. Out of all of the vets that I have ever met, I think Dr. Baber is by far the most knowledgeable and obviously experienced. He really made us feel welcome because he truly listened to our concerns and helped us understand. I felt like I was talking to a family friend or neighbor. Thank you Dr Baber and the rest of the staff at Mountain View. We drove from Kirkland to have a laparoscopic spay on our goldendoodle. Dr Barber gave us a tour of the facility and gave us a very detailed explanation of the procedure along with risks and benefits associated with this surgery. The incisions healed up wonderfully and the office staff called the next day to ensure our puppy was back to her usual self. I would recommended this vet to everyone looking for laparoscopic spay or all other care. The only down side I can see is that we cannot make Dr Baber our regular vet due to our distance! read more

We just had a really good experience at Mtn View Vererinary Clinic. The doctor and staff obviously care al lot about their patients. We were refered to Dr Baber because our 15 year old cat (TW) needed specialized care. I think the advice we got concerning care for our elderly cat was right on. Dr. Baber and staff are really good and caring. I have 5 cats and 2 dogs that they take care of. I used a woman Vet there one time when he wasn't there. She did not cure my cat and paid for medicine that did not work. I had to go to Baber when he was there and he gave me the right medicine and she was cured. Would not go to anybody but Baber.. He is kind and very good at his diagnosis and curing the problem. I gave it a 4 star instead of a 5 because of that one time with that different vet that was there. read more

We have been taking our dogs to Dr. B. for the past 6 years, the cat for another 10 yrs. prior. I have used several vets in the past, even the emergency vet clinic. I have to say I have very much liked Dr. Baber's bedside manner! If he isn't familiar immediately with something, he finds out and calls you. He is calm, patient. I never feel rushed or like I'm on the clock. He makes sure your questions are answered before you leave. The only thing I wish is that his hours were more expanded...we have had a few emergency situations, like on a Saturday, and we had to take our dog to another vet who was opened. Dr. Baber is very good about taking the time to explain things in a way that non professionals can understand. He is honest and wants to make sure you are well informed. I recently had my cat in for surgery to remove a tumor from her small intestine. While he was explaining what he had done and what her recovery would be like, he held her in his arms, petted her and even kissed the top of her head. He really cares. That kind of caring and concern means a lot to me. My cat loves him, even after major surgery. I trust him, and I know my pets are in good hands with Dr. Baber. Another thing I appreciate about this clinic is the adoption suite built into the corner of the lobby to showcase healthy adoptable cats. Had a bad experience with this clinic. I dont think they have the pets wellfare at heart, lack compassion for the owner and pets and its all about the money. After knee surgery which cost close to $3000 they gave some credit card option which didnt work out so subsequently after they wouldnt give me dog back i made every effort to come up with the money which i did through a lot of work and putting a lot of people out to help me. There stance in the midst of this was to detain my dog who would have obviously been in stress with the sugery and is little over 1 year old probably anxious and distressed not being able to see her. My wife was very upset but they just smiled and and patronized me that you should have the money offering no solution or advice to a visibly distressed dog owner as they become part of your family. The girl technician seemed to find it very funny and was just smiling. After getting the funds put in my bank from work through check and showing them the transaction i returned to give them the check we again had problems the lady at the front desk didnt have the intellectual capacity to process that when someone gives you a check it takes a day or two to show up to be available in your account but instead of taking my check she just replied im sorry about 10 times to a distressed dog owner and prevented me from having or even seeing my dog. Detaining the dog without my will. Venting my frustration and after being patronized again by an arrogant vet they made me get a cashiers check which i had to get. They treated me appaulingly and were not sensitive to us at all. Couldnt care less about the dog or us just wanted there money and were embarrasing themselves through it.
