I would like to say that Mountain View Welding is the only place I will ever go for my welding needs. Not only are their prices for square tube 1/3 of Home Depot but it's better quality and comes with expert advice. Plus these guys are sooo nice, I swear I thought I was back in Canada. I bought a lumber rack that needed a little customizing and brought it here. Kale and Randy came out and helped figure out what I needed and how I should go about doing the modifications. As a beginner this was way better than 100 YouTube tutorials. After getting everything in place and prepping to weld I couldn't get the welder to do anything but spit hot lava everywhere. My buddy came over who is a little more experienced than me but he couldn't figure it out either. So I called the shop seeing if I could bring it in and have them do it there. To my surprise Kale answered the phone and offered to come to my place and tune my welder up! This firm took a job another welding firm wanted to charge more than double for: Re-fasten a trailer hitch to the uni-body frame of my car. My instructions were simple: Weld the hitch back to where it was separating from the uni-body; make sure it's stronger than it was when I brought it in. Since they were close by I went for it. The manager did the job on time and below budget. When does that ever happen? When you are getting RIPPED OFF, that's when. My VERY FIRST TRIP later, and my trailer was literally (and dangerously) falling off the car. When I took a good second look under my car at what they did, I realized they didn't even touch the two bolted places where the hitch was becoming detached. All they did was weld a piece onto the center post that was cosmetic, basically just making the hitch look straight long enough for me to get down the road. I gave them $130 for doing practically nothing. The Trump wall hanging should have been a tip-off; as he said, "I like the uneducated." And that's precisely what you'll get if you have them do a welding project for you. read more

I called this shop today looking for sheet metal to install on trees to prevent raccoons from climbing and chewing the bark. They sell sheet metal, but the thinnest is about 1/16" and it costs $60 for the size I need. I explained that I didn't want to spend that much and didn't need something that thick. The fellow on the phone gave me a couple of possibilities where I might find a thinner piece. The first place I called had what I need and it only cost $25. This shop made no money on its transaction with me, but they earned a future customer if I ever need welding done. Thanks! read more

I had a very small project and I could not get a welder's time or return response. When I took it to Mountain View, although it did take a week, which Loren was upfront about that anyway, and they let me have a bit off the shop minimum. It was done on time and the work was done without a problem. They are going to be my welding shop of choice. read more
