I got an 8 point buck late 22. I took it to uzelles wild game processing where I was referred to…read moreslick rock taxidermy who also happened to be there dropping off something. I spoke to him about mounting the buck and told him I wanted him to take the head and I'd give him a deposit for it. After they're done skinning it slick rock had left already.... Without the head. Uzelles said they would hold it for him until he could come pick it up. I got in touch with him the next day and he said he was going out to dinner the previous night to celebrate getting his first bear (the thing weighed less than my deer). Fast forward to about 18 months later and the mount is finally ready. Only problem is it's definitely not the deer I shot. Everyone who sees what I got and the pictures of me with the actual deer says the same thing. My guess is he never picked up the heads and it took so long because he was trying to find another 8 pointer he could pass off. It's real easy to see the difference. My deer was old. Look at all the white around his eyes and nose. The one he gave me was young. My deer had an injury on the top of his snout. The one he gave me doesn't. The neck on my deer was huge. His deer has a skinny neck. Even the rack is off if you look at his spread where his antlers emerged. The guy has no morals. I would avoid this place if I were you. $750 for a mount and you don't even get the deer you killed because the guy is not honest.

I spent 14 months thinking I had lost $600 and the biggest buck I've ever shot. Literally the very first thing he did was crack the skull plate between the antlers and then managed to mount it with a 21in spread when it was originally 22in. I shot my deer September 14th and he mounted it with the cape of a midwest buck in rut, it literally looks nothing like the deer I shot. After speaking with another local taxidermist and people that have had him do their work I realized I'm lucky I even got my deer back. Like I said, I could write a novel detailing all his lies but just to point out a few issue I had with him: - told me he would order the mount form day 1 and didn't for over a year - told me he would score the deer and never did - did a completely different mount than I paid for and was detailed on invoice - got angry and started yelling if I asked if he had started on my mount 12 months AFTER he told me it would be done - lied about where the cape was being tanned - threatened me and others with litigation if we left a negative review (hence only 1 review here) - told me he didn't have much motivation to finish my deer because I already paid him - lied about when the mount would be finished about a dozen times - also he has repeatedly changed his business name because of how bad his reputation is In the end the mount he gave me looks like the deer is drunk and sad, it's horrible. Choosing On Target Taxidermy to mount my deer has been the single worst financial decision I have made in my life, I feel like an idiot for falling for his lies. And believe me when I say this review is 100% honest because he has threatened to sue me for slander if I leave a negative review, so I'm giving you my honest unexaggerated experience.
