I am ashamed i have been walking in front of it almost every day for a year without having the curiosity to look inside... It is a theater but there are also music concerts, you can have a look at the program on the website here http://www.teatrodellapergola.com/ It is an old beautiful theater (17th century, under the patronage of a Medici - again - according to wikipedia) with two rooms, the sala Grande (the one you can see on my pictures) and Sallocino a former ballroom located upstairs that i have not seen. Do not save on your effort and please raise your head to admire the ceilings: so beautiful. The whole theater is in really good shape, well renovated. I went to listen to a concert of classical music, it was my first time and i enjoyed a lot - and i guess the beautiful surroundings were also responsible for the good time i had. And even if the theater is old, the seat are not so uncomfortable as they sometimes are! At the intermission, you can head to the very nice bar to have a quick cake (not tasted yet!)...

He's clearly incredibly passionate about the music, and is something of a performance in and of himself. Tickets here are definitely affordable, and will enhance the overall Firenze experience for any tourist. Sure, you appreciate the fantastic art that is in the city's museums, but here you're experiencing it live, first hand - it's something you'll always remember, and a wonderful way to end a day in Italy. Enjoy!

The play conveyed the human dynamics of the Renaissance era. So, even though we've been to Uffizi twice, we gained additional perspectives on this leading family and its role in shaping Firenze. Theatre is near the Central Market.
I really enjoyed the show!

Anyhow this is an amazing historical place regardless of whether you are here to see a concert or just to walk around the grounds and take pictures like we did. It is so serene here. One thing I do not like is the fact that they charge you I believe 7€ per person just to come in and look around. I understood it at that time because I thought it was an historical site, and the money to maintain the place, which truthfully doesn't look very maintained, judging by the tall weed all over the place. Now that I know they hold actual performances there I feel cheated. It is still a very good place to walk around for a bit and take pictures. The view of the city from here is amazing though, you cannot put a price tag on that!

The place had tight security and smelled of new construction, but I was told all of that was for the private event. But its still under construction, because the original vision was to make it an arts complex with 3 stages. I was seated in the main opera house which seats 1800. The sound was excellent inside the venue. I could see this place becoming 5 stars, once the complex is finished being built.

The building is still new and has a very nice walkway up to the entrance. Tr main auditorium is very large and can accompany a large audience. The sounds and lighting is very good for a performance or a speaker. I've seen both and thought I could hear and see even sitting from the back. The seats, which I think is important, are very comfortable :) once outside of the auditorium there are nice areas to walk through with nice pictures of fashionable and modern art. Bottom line...great place to watch a performance or hear a speaker. This opera is new just about 4 years old so expect a modern and comfortable experience with great seating, good lighting and great speakers so you can get a good show from any seat! Pros Modern and new auditorium with a grand entrance Very close to the city center and cascine Park Nice walkways full of modern and fashionable art Cons No major cons here but I would say there are other opera houses that have a nicer ambience
