Been loving that Hawaii has a Korean corndog place and these guys popped up and expanded really quick. I was working at Ala Moana when the first one opened in a blink of an eye they had two locations on the central side of Oahu (Pearlridge and Waikele). I like the consistency that all locations have to offer, from the food, to service, even the decor is all the same! It's hard to get an order wrong and to mess up a Korean corn dog. Funny thing I didn't realize until recently. I LOVE spicy, I love burn-your-bootyhole spicy, sadly they don't offer that. They only offer hot cheetos spicy - I barely wanna call my ex with that. How can this place be a Korean brand but not have super spicy sauce(s)?! Anyways, I got the "spiciest" combo you could get....with a cheese filling. Silly me, I forgot that dairy negates the feeling of spice. *FACEPALM* I know hot cheetos aren't spicy, but I just realized I completed negated any spice it had left by adding cheese to it. I ordered a regular dog with cheese on the inside per request of the cashier (i asked what they recommend and what they eat on their lunch). The outside texture is nice and crunchy, not too flakey so it does not make a huge mess which is nice. The corn dog portion tastes exactly like a corndog you buy frozen from a grocery store. The cheese portion was honestly, not good. It was mozzarella, and it had an awful alcohol after taste. Almost synthetic in nature... I think without the cheese the corndog would be fine, but at that point i would rather buy frozen corndogs and bake them myself. Would not recommend unless you want the novelty. read more

I've been coming to the Pearlridge location for a couple years and the service has never been friendly or quick. My experience at Ala Moana mall was better in the past. The food is good, but they've raised the prices and stopped giving packaged sauces. You now have to make your own sauce using their plastic bottles. It's a bit odd considering how other places such as Yummy Korean bbq at least make the sauce containers for you. Also, it would be more worth it if the wait was shorter. Maybe they're just trying to keep us busy to distract us from the fact that we're waiting 15 min for a corn dog lol. I popped in for lunch here yesterday and I was super excited. I've had this bookmarked ever since they opened. Surprisingly there were no lines, in fact the mall was practically a ghost town. But Anywhos, I told the girl this is my first time here and she was sweet and kind. I chose the flaming cheetah as it looked like hot Cheetos topping, she guided me to chose the 2nd step which was the type of cheese I wanted inside, I chose number 5, a combination of cheddar cheese and mozzarella. Then she asked if I wanted spicy Mayo or some other type of spicy. I chose spicy Mayo as I wasn't sure about their spicy levels. It came out fresh and super delicious. I was expecting the sausage inside but it was only cheese. I think if I choose a different option, it would have had the sausage too.. Wasn't the best, was not the worse either. We decided to get the Flamin' dog. It was not spicy at all which was great. A little over priced but it tasted good! I sure won't be back but it was a nice first time trying. If your into the whole corn dog situation id recommend trying it out but otherwise this was a good enough snack. I've passed by a few times and didn't notice it, so it's easy to miss if you're not looking for it even though it's right there. Maybe because it's at an awkward corner or the space is small? Not sure. This is just a take out "restaurant". There are no tables, so you're best off picking up and heading upstairs to the food court to eat. The menu is pretty straightforward. You can choose what the outer coating first. I chose the sweet potato one, there is also regular potato, hot cheeto, fruity pebbles and a couple others. Then you choose the inside. You can choose hot dog, mozzarella cheese or half and half. Then there is a dipping sauce choice that I believe is included. I thought it was an extra cost so I didn't get a dipping sauce. Next time I know.... And you can also ask for sugar or no sugar coating. I honestly don't really get the hype. It's a sweet corn dog basically.... It was hot and crunchy in the outside and it was a unique experience but idk if I'm really their market demographic. I think this is popular with youths and I'm old now. Lol. read more

No greeting or initiative of conversation from three frontline workers. I said, "Hi!" Third worker on the right pointed and said, "Order here." then gestured with her arm for me on where to order which is left side. I was initially turned off by lack of customer service, then remembered what to ask. Second or middle worker was quiet the entire time. I asked, "Which myungrang hot dogs are your best selling or top quality?" Cashier on far left informed me #2 Mozzarella Hot Dogs with cheese at top and hot dog at the bottom and #6 Mozzarella Dog without Hot Dog. I chose #2. Given the option of sugar coated all over Mozzarella Dog. I said, "Yes." Also given the option if I want sauce either honey mustard, ranch or bbq sauce. I chose honey mustard. Also given choice of powdered cheddar cheese, honey or powdered Parmesan cheese. Selected Parmesan cheese. There was one more family of four trying to decide what to order and I in this establishment. When worker on far right called my number, quite surprised she said, "Thank you." I said, "Thank you." I was not in the mood to say anything more. Tips: No nonsense vibe. Order on the left with cashier. Have your receipt ready to show two workers on the right when one worker calls your order number, and other worker will place open paper bag on the counter. No offense to anyone or pun intended. My honest feedback is I'm paying $4.50 to experience how and what it tastes like to consume "dolled up" or "high end" or "yuppie" hot dog. Too bad honey mustard isn't homemade. This place is so wonderful. We stopped by on a Tuesday around 6pm and they were actually still pretty busy. I can definitely see why though. The staff was nice and very patient with us while we deliberated over the menu. We tried the Yam-Yam with beef sausage and the Holy Cow with mozzarella filling. The outer coating was so crispy and delicious without being greasy or heavy. It was divine. They recommend getting mozzarella for that satisfying "cheese pull" and I couldn't agree more. It was definitely very satisfying and the flavors were balanced perfectly. I have gone to the location in Ala Moana before, but this one is so much better. They have a pretty good sized space with sufficient room to wait for your order. I also think that the outer coating was crispier here and the filling ingredients tasted better. 6-21-2020 2 Nd visit here. My on-line order had shipped and was ready for pick up a few doors down as HT is now open. We had a feast in store for dinner that we had an 11 a.m. pick up order. Since it was Fathers Day I asked hubs what he wanted to do today. I had my mind set that I was going to pick up all 3 meals today, his choice from where ever his heart and belly desired... Things went awry... He said he'd pick up breakfast from Wahiawa. So...I decided to drive him to Pearlridge for lunch as one of this gifts was FOOD from Gen. He wanted to save it all for dinner instead of for lunch. I asked him what would you like for lunch? He said he was going to eat leftovers. Oh my... He ended picking up ONE Mozzarella Dog for me. What? Only one? He commented it felt really light in the package but he said I didn't specify how many. Okay, I'll go with the flow. When we got home I sliced the top half an inch off to look inside. Hubs!!! It's only cheese. When I had eaten half way down I found a small piece of sausage that seemed about 2-1/2 inches long. Such a skinny piece, it was hidden in part of the cheese. It was my first time so I ordered it without sugar coat but after trying it I think it'll also taste good with sugar coat. I have to try it next time. There were multiple sauces. I got sweet chili and honey mustard and regular mustard. Other choices were ketchup and cheese sprinkles. This Korean corn dog place can be found in Pearlridge Center. They have a decent list of items to choose from. You can also fill your corn dog with either a hotdog, mozzarella or cheddar cheese. I went ahead and got their Messy Kinako with mozzarella for the cheese pull, of course. The corn dog itself is drizzled in condensed milk and roast yellow bean powder. At first I didn't think it was going to turn out well. I just didn't see the cheese going well with the condensed milk. However, I was completely wrong. Strangely enough the messy Kinako tasted fine, like a quick dessert. The corn dog itself was hot and crispy and of course, delivered on the cheese pull. I understand the craze as its instagram worthy shots and the video they show while you stand in line of the Korean girls eating the corn dogs made me really want to try some, too. They ask you if you want sugar with it and I didn't add sugar on my corn dog and had the squid ink with the mozzarella cheese. My other half ordered the one with the potatoes and that tasted a lot better. The cheese sauce they offer as a condiment is a must with ketchup. They do make it to order and the prices are definitely reasonable. Staff was friendly and patient enough to explain to all the customers. The truth is... Finally able to get Korea's famous hot dog on a stick without having to drive all the way to Ala Moana. This location is located at Pearlridge Wai Makai (Downtown Pearlridge). You won't find your average corn dog here, although they look like them. I always end up getting the Squid Ink & Mozzarella hot dog. It's half mozzarella (upper half) and half hot dog (lower half). Parts of the hot dog stick out at the bottom where they cut it and when fried, curls up to look like squid tentacles. The outside has a batter that's fried to crispy perfection and really gives a crunch when bitten. The mozzarella cheese is still hot and gooey when eaten right away. If mozzarella isn't you choice of cheese, they also offer a hot dog with cheddar cheese. This time, there's a full hot dog and it's wrapped with the cheddar cheese and their batter. They have a variety of dipping sauces to choose from to dip your hot dog on a stick in. My go to dipping sauces are they honey mustard and the cheese mustard. They go well with the hot dogs. They do also offer to have your hot dog sprinkled with sugar. This totally changes the way your hotdog will taste, but in a good way. Must try! Had to check out this new place was all about? To my understanding this is their second location their first location is located at the Ala Moana Shopping Center food court. I had their Cheddar Cheese Hot Dog nothing spectacular, it's almost like a Corn Dog but in a Panko batter. It's filled with all kinds of stuff from Cheddar Cheese, Mozzarella, potatoes and I seen black squid ink. Since it's a new restaurant it was busy once they opened their doors. They opened at 11:00am and there was a line already I got in line and I was probably 9th person in line . The product is made to order and it's fresh out of the deep fryer. That's why when you order they give you a ticket than need to wait for your order . The price ranges from $4.50 and up. It's okay but probably wouldn't go out of my way for it . She got her squid ink hot dog and I let the gal know that it was my first time here.(We also didn't have time to read the menu) She recommended the mozarella stick. They roll it in sugar and then you add your condiments. American corn dog it is not! It's more of a rice flour coating and the hot dog does not go the length of the stick that you'd expect... My first time trying one of these Korean hot dogs! I seen them on YouTube and they looked delicious. We ordered a fried potato one with 1/2 mozzarella and 1/2 sausage. The batter around it was so good, I actually prefer it over a traditional corn dog. My daughter and I shared it thankfully, it was really filling! The girl at the register was really nice, asked if we wanted sugar on it but I think she could see my hesitation because she offered to put just a small amount. I didn't care for the sugar, my daughter loved it so just whatever your personal preference is I guess. I'm glad she only put a tiny amount on half, I just at the other half lol.
