Mr. Soul Bistro is definitely more of an after-hours spot, but it's absolutely worth it. It's a little out of the way, but the drive makes sense once you taste the food. The jollof and the spicy noodles are amazing--full of flavor and always satisfying. It's one of those places you go to when you're really trying to eat and don't mind stepping outside of the usual areas. Not overly polished, but that's part of the charm. If you know, you know. This place is a vibe so 5 stars on that, we got there at 2. there are 4 2 seat tables to sit for free anything else is$600. Your card must have a chip and you must pay before your order is put in . I was told unless the owner is here they aren't allowed to swipe cards, which I found odd but ok. The food wasn't fresh I paid $20 for noodles that came with 4 pieces of shrimp literally. The menu just said noodles, it didn't mention that it contained beef( that should be mentioned for people who don't eat that. In my opinion the prices for the food were not matching what we received. Other than that come to vibe I just wouldn't expect much from the kitchen. This place is a complete gem and is authentic and delicious as it gets. Our friend (who recently moved from Nigeria) took us here, so it was our first experience with Nigerian food and it was INCREDIBLE!! He said the food was the exact type of food you would get back in Lagos, if not better, and he felt right at home. We started off the with the suya and I couldn't get enough, it was so tender and flavorful, we almost got a second round. I had the jollof rice and turkey, while the other people in my group got the egusi, efo and yam. The food is top notch and would highly recommend this to anyone craving Nigerian fare or looking to try it for the first time. The atmosphere was really fun and festive and the service was above and beyond -- everyone was so friendly, our server made sure we were well taken care of and we even got to meet the owner who personally came over and introduced himself. We loved it so much that we even stayed for a hookah. We went pretty early in the evening, but our sever told us that it gets really lively later in the evening as people come for the music, dancing and hookah. Can't wait to come back again! read more

I usually only come here to party after 3a.m., as it is an after hour African spot. Lately, I've been going for the food - the goat pepper soup to be specific. The soup is really flavorful, tasty, and so spicy like I like it. However, the last time I went, my friend ordered the snapper and it was still frozen. That sucked, but the waitress apologized and gave us another dish and doubled the quantity at no charge. Not sure I'd order the red snapper ever again but the jollof, suya, and soup I can vouch for. Kind of tiny inside also, gets really really crowded during the late night crowd. read more

Two stars (but I want to give more because the food is amazing.) The women they employ are horrible, disgusting and don't care about the customers. I hate that for them. I don't know if they're understaffed or they picked the wrong women. But it's actually sad because the food is good but the waitresses are rude and disgusting! They make your experience so bad. Hopefully the owners see this and fire every waitress and start over. They ALL LACK BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. read more

Im not sure where in Nigeria these people are from but it was some of the worse food ever. The meat was super tough, the rice dry and hard. I've been cooking 9ja food for over a decade and have a community of friends. My Nigerian ppl, why now? Why play shakara with the stew? this place is located in a nice area with free parking... the most of the staff is over worked so they tend to give a lot of attitude... ordered food and after 30 minutes of waiting i asked to cancel the order and the waitress kept saying to give her 15 more minutes... it's now two hours and food still wasn't ready... when the food is finally ready after two hours it's was wrong and the fries taste stale as if it was just sitting for hours.. the bathroom is located exactly where they are making the hookah and that's a big safety hazard... won't be returning... read more

I arrived just in time for dinner opening. I was the first one here so the service was speedy. I ordered the snapper, suya , jollof rice and efo riro. First off this is the BEST Nigerian Food in Atlanta. The establishment is sparkling clean with gender neutral bathrooms. Ample parking as it is located Northeast Plaza. They play great music that isn't too loud. You can also watch TV on four different screens which I like because I like to watch multiple shows at once. Now let's talk about the snapper.it is lightly fried and smothering in stew sauce! A1 I felt like I just stepped off of the plane in Naija. The efo riro was made with fresh spinach and wasn't too spicy. The jollof was nice and grainy not mushy. The suya was grilled to perfection; just as good as when they make it on a steel drum in Naija so sweet on my tongue. The jollof smoked just right as if it came from Senegal sooooo good. Want to experience some authentic Nigerian food inside the perimeter and not in SW Atlanta? Try this unassuming local late night hangout any time after it's 3pm opening - it stays open until 6am by the way. Located on lower Buford Hwy in the Latino Plaza near Briarwood Rd. We tried a variety of foods recommended by the Congolese/Angolan server and the Nigerian owner Mr Soul. The food was so tasty and [warning] super spicy - habanero/scotch bonnet hot!! So if you are squeamish about spice - be sure to ask for the milder entrees. The fufu (pounded taro) was smooth and subtle with a creamy texture perfect for eating with the spicier accompaniments. I can't remember the names of the dishes but we just asked for some typical foods. You eat with your hands (though utensils are available) and a container of warm water is given to keep your hands clean. Everything we had was so tasty. They have house made ginger beer and sorrel both of which were delicious. By the way, they also have shisha (aka hookah). This was such a great discovery!!
