Maybe I was overhyped to try this one by all the people saying it was great. If you come for lunch either call ahead or be prepared to wait, there was only one chica cooking for the whole place and it took us about 10-15mins to get food. The cashier did say it would be about 10 mins to be fair so we knew ahead of time. The store is not super clean but it is in a gas station so there's that. We ordered the 3 tacos deal for lunch and I ordered the Pastor, carnitas and chorizo. The pastor was the best tasting out of the three. The carnitas were Atleast 3 days old judging from the dryness of the meat. This place is a total hole in the wall, but often, those places can have the best food. The prices are extremely reasonable, and everything was super fresh and delicious. I ordered three tacos thru DoorDash with the explicit instructions of no onions. When delivered, tacos were covered in onions. Called the restaurant to complain and they first requested me to come pick up a replacement or and when I said I was not able to, this so called restaurant hung up on me. So I will never order again. Took some food to go for my first visit. It's location is right next to a gas station so that may turn off a few people so be prepared. The parking lot is the gas stations also so it's tiny. The inside is also pretty small so if you come with a large group it may not fit you. The inside could also use a deep cleaning because it wasn't that appealing. I got the veggie burrito and it was prepared quickly. It came with beans, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, and cilantro. The burrito itself was a decent size but it had an overload of cilantro so it tasted bitter. The price was cheap though so that's a plus lol. Wasn't the best meal I've had but hats off to them for trying I guess lol. Not sure if I'll be back or not. Time will tell read more

If I could do a 1.5 I would, reason been that flavor wasn't terrible but preparation and additives are trash. I ordered the menudo which had absolutely NO hominy a ton of tripe and basically nothing but juice and tripe somehow resulting in a pretty decent flavor but definitely not at all satisfying. My partner got 3 carne asada tacos that has absolutely no love ver little meat no cheese or any other garnish aside the onion and cilantro I requested to put on the side. Now for desert I didn't get a picture of the cake but tres leeches had me embarrassed!! Instead of condensed milk they used actual 2 percent milk as the bottom adative leaving the cake sponged in milk like dipping in water. This place was terrible as far as presentation and what they put in the preparation! Show these cooks love so they can create love in the kitchen.. I think I may have just had the best burrito I have ever had. Pretty much the definition of hole in the wall, but in this case next to a gas station. There is a bar of fresh homemade salsa to choose from and our food came out exceptionally quick, all at excellent prices. My only regret is that we are just passing through and will not be able to eat here again. read more

Decided to check this place out because I was craving tacos & it had good reviews. When I pulled up & saw it was attached to a truck stop, I was honestly tempted not to go in. But I'm SO GLAD I did. The food was delicious. Full of flavor & definitely authentic. They have complimentary chips & salsa. The chips were homemade & fresh. There was a bar full of different salsas to choose from & each salsa we tired tasted very fresh. Prices were very reasonable & our food came out in less than 5 min. They have a great product. However, they do not pay enough attention to the front end. A self service location, but that does not usually include busing your own table. Me and my friend was riding by and I quickly spotted this place so we stopped here. It's been my experience that the small "hole-in-the-wall" dives are really good eats and this one didn't disappoint. There was no air conditioning but I quickly forgot about that when I saw a sign posted up that said $1.40 ground beef tacos.... So I ordered one and a Horchata drink that they had in one of the cascading drink machines. This was served on a corn tortilla and if you are a person that loves HOMEMADE corn tortillas (not the crap that grocery stores carry) then you will love these tacos. The quesedilla was awesome too. Queso cheese and tender chicken hit the spot. The quac was the best I ever tasted, and they have a variety of different sauces available on a bar for you to choose from. Cheap, fast and delicious! Yea it's attached to a Chevron, but that is only more convience to me anyway. I live in Smyrna, but whenever I get a tast for some good mexican food I will be rolling on over here again. read more

Looking for a quick Mexican restaurant to go to before jumping on the interstate, we stumbled upon Mr. Taco. A year or so ago this place was an order out only but now it seems they've added on and have a sit down area and spice rack, with tvs here were playing Ugly Betty and other Univision shows. The place was clean and the people seemed nice but the food didn't really do anything for us. We ordered a quesadilla to share and both Asada (beef steak) and Pastor (Marinated Pork). There was an overly large amount of grease that came with them as it nearly filled the mini trays they give you. The spice rack was fairly standard, although the avacado was very good. Good for a gas station eatery but other than that, not very appetizing. read more

I had a chicken quesadilla meal complete with rice and refried beans. I would eat there again simply because the quesadilla was so light and cheeeeeeeeeezy. The chicken was really tender. Being a California native, good Mexican food is hard to find in GA. I must say, their version of Mexican Street Tacos were delightful. I'm fully satisfied with 3 tacos and the meat was flavored very well. The Shrimp Cocktail was prepared well, shrimp were plum and deveined and over all I enjoyed my experience at Mr. Taco! I work really close to this place, but I hadn't been to here since shortly after it opened about 6 years ago. So I thought it worthwhile to return and went with a coworker yesterday. Big menu and as I am that rare beast, the vegetarian who likes taquerias, I am thrilled they list vegetarian variants - some taquerias look like they're about to call 911 when I ask for a torta without meat. So I get a veggie torta sans mayo and an horchata. Salsa bar wasn't here the last time I was here, and it's good, the habanero salsa in particular. Torta comes soon - sadly it's pretty meh. The bread doesn't pass the test - too soft/soggy. Also they used shredded mozzarella instead of queso fresco, the onions were chopped up which made for a weird consistency, and to top it off they kept the mayo. Not indelible, but disappointing. Plus I ended up with that "bad oil" feeling afterwards - you know what I'm talking about, that feeling you get like 30 minutes after you've eaten at Captain D's? That feeling. My coworker had a somewhat better experience with his tacos de carne asada, but still concurred with me. Best off going to Don Burrito inside the farmer's market if limited to the immediate area, or else over to Las Tortas Locas on Jonesboro Rd or La Oaxaquena if you can spare a few extra minutes. Don't let it scare you that this place is co located in a gas station. It is good, cheap, & authentic mexican. I have only tried the 3 taco and drink special for 5.99 (lunch). The salsa bar offers like 5 or 6 salsas and a couple snacks like peppers. Give it a try if your in the area. read more

This Mr. Taco is horrid. After placing an order and realizing it was the wrong one 2 minutes later we called back trying to cancel the order. We spent 30 minutes on the phone with them trying to cancel the order. The man, Louie, was incredibly rude and disrespectful to us while on the phone and flat out lied about the manager being there. Absolutely horrible service. After arguing for 15 minutes they grudgingly agreed to TRY and refund our food. Authentic Mexican, very similar to what you find in northern Mexico and New Mexico. Key word is AUTHENTIC. Only reason I give it a 4/5, and not 5/5 is because it was a notch lower than my favorite place of all time located in New Mexico. Still, very very good and affordable. read more
