Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is a Disneyland original. This ride has literally been around since the opening in 1955, when Walt Disney himself was walking the grounds of the park and based off of a film from freaking 1908. That is just amazing to me. What is even more amazing is that when Disney World got rid of this ride, angry Disnerds protested in the park. As I've mentioned in previous reviews, a lot of rides in Fantasyland are incredibly similar. With this one, you hop in a little tin lizzy and go through a serious of events. I've never seen Wind in the Willows or Ichabod and Mr. Toad, so I wasn't familiar with the storyline. I found it interesting and a little funny where you literally die and drive through hell. Thankfully this is another ride that doesn't take too long to get onto. It is beloved by many, and don't see this ride going anywhere for a long time. read more

This is an interesting ride! Depending on the age & maturity of the child or children, this may or may not be for them! We were standing in line and this mother was trying to assure her child that this is a kiddie ride and it would be ok. My husband was telling her that "it wasn't scary". Funny thing is, while we were riding it, he said "maybe it could be scary for her". We saw the girl after the ride, and she was ok, but I don't think she really liked it. I love the decorative toads everywhere, even on the posts at the top in the area just before the ride begins. There are toads everywhere. Mr. Toad must be British since your ride takes you for a joyride at night through the streets of London. It sure is a wild ride!! It begins innocently enough through a library and before you know it, things are heating up and you find yourself in a place you hope to never be! The ride was too jerky, quick, and I couldn't take any decent pictures while on the ride. You can see other people's pictures, they were able to take a couple of decent ones of the cut-outs and characters. This is a short ride! It seems to take forever to get on the ride and it is over in like 2 minutes. As with most of the rides in Disneyland, there will be a long line to wait in! Bring your patience and wait. read more

This was my first time going on this ride in years and it's better than I remember it to be. The props used are pretty outdated, but there's a lot of action going on. Many noises and bright lights everywhere. Overall, pretty good ride and if the wait is 20 minutes or under, I'd definitely recommend it. If you have a large party, you can't go all at once because the cars are very small and fit two adults at most. Definitely a must go, along with Peter Pan, Snow White, and Pinocchio rides. This ride is one that any age can try, as long as there is someone older to watch over them. You sit in a buggy, and Mr. Toad takes you on his life journey. I loved this ride as a kid and I love it now as an adult. I still go bananas if I get to drive Mr. Toad's car (it's random but you may be one of the lucky ones). Since this ride has been removed at Walt Disney World in Orlando, I have an even greater fondness for the one here at Disneyland. When I'm at the park for the "rope drop," I always make a beeline for Mr. Toad. No, seriously. The attraction area is wonderfully themed. You enter through the front of Toad Hall where you'll find J. Thaddeus Toad himself in statuette. Mr. Toad has long been one of my favorite Disney movie characters. If you are a fan of the Wind and the Willows books, the Mr. Toad Disney movie, weasels and / or motorcars, this ride is for you! There's even a stationary motorcar out front for photo ops. The 'wild ride' isn't very wild, even the elderly and small children can ride it with no problem. The cars run along an erratic track; you don't actually steer or drive them, but it's fun to play along. The final scene of the ride puts you in Hell with the devil and you can feel the heat (perfect way to warm up, if only briefly, on a cold day)! You know, all these years... and I have NEVER seen or read "The Wind in the Willows." Fortunately, from what I've heard, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride doesn't really hew to either the book or the movie. I've always looked at it as a crazy ride through London where you get into a nasty accident with a train and end up in Hell (where the ride gets really warm). Sure, the interior of this dark ride could really use a facelift, but the exterior resembling Toad Hall just has a bit of charm to it. One can't help getting a picture of Mr. Toad's statue inside, as well as the photo op of one of the cars. If the line's not too long, this isn't too bad. read more

A really wild ride in terms of the storytelling. I was told by a seasoned Disneyland veteran to look out for the important moral of the ride. What I got from it was that drunk driving will land you in jail and if you do it again, you'll go to hell. Yeah, kind of intense for a kid but they will probably just see it as fun cartoon high jinks so you're probably good. The ride is all hands off so you can sit back and enjoy. You move around in two person cars. The car takes you through different very air conditioned scenes. Near the end (the hell part) it is notably warmer but that portion isn't too long. read more

Awesome adventure with toad. Line move well with this ride. It is a bit cramped when you get in the building but the rides is just perfect with the length of time of the ride and all the fun mischief you get into on the ride. They turned off the heater at the end when you enter hell which is nice. read more

SPOILER ALERT :) One of the many classic Fantasyland rides available there. Never watched the movie that was in correlation to this ride, but I have received multiple confirmation that it does depict the story well. A good number of the rides in Fantasyland have a few "scary" moments and this is definitely no exception. You hop onto a car and basically go through this quick pace adventure that Mr. Toad took as a reckless driver. My friend and I had definitely a hard time finding any sort of hidden Mickeys since this ride goes pretty fast. I think the unsettling scene that gets me every time is after when you die and end up in hell. Years ago when you got to this scene the room would be warmer than all the previous scenes you went through. So I wished they had kept that affect though cause it lends to the creepy/scary factor of the ride. Then you are abruptly at the end of the ride. I guess this would be a good lesson on reckless driving for the kiddos lolz read more

Walk down memory lane with one of the less remembered Disney animated films, the ride is fun yet simple and dated. Very casual ride. It's in a realm of "why not" bc it's next to Snow White and Peter Pan. The only ride in the park that ends with going to Heck. So that's neat. Lol! read more

Wild ride of memories and nostalgia. I remember when I was very little, this was one of my favorite rides ever! I grew up going to Disney World and had to ride this several times pretending like we were on the adventure with Mr. Toad. Then it was replaced at Magic Kingdom. I believe it was replaced by the Poo Bear ride, which also created fond memories with my own children. But, my daughter is a huge fan of nostalgia, Disney lore, and reliving some of my own memories. We own a DVD of Wind in the Willows which she watched when she was very young so it was on her ride bucket list to come here to Disneyland and experience it for herself. The ride is silly fun, a bit dated looking, and oh so retro, a throwback to childhood. She was very excited and wanted to know if it was what I remembered. Yes, many scenes in the ride brings back fond memories of driving a car crazy with the automobile obsessed Mr. Toad. It was a fun wild ride back to my past and reliving it with my family. read more

To summarize, in Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, you go on a drunk driving-filled bender in Victorian London. You are caught, put on trial, put in jail, where you then escape and are run over by a train. You die and go to hell. The End! You do not pass go. You do not live happily ever after. Ultimately, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is Walt Disney's cautionary tale about the perils of drink, and the wayward and careless ways of British nobility. And it is absolutely brilliant. I loved this ride as a kid because I got to drive a car. I was given the opportunity to sit behind a steering wheel. What kid doesn't want that? That's all kid me remembers about it. So, when I went to DL with my family, to include my 5-year-old nephew, I suggested we ride it as I was not actually cognizant of the ride's sequence of events and morbid message. The wait was relatively short as the continuous movement of ride vehicles enables quick loading and unloading. The loading area theming is quite impressive, with large wood-beamed ceilings reminiscent of an old British manor home. The ride vehicles are very well maintained, very-inviting shiny tufted leather seats and fresh paint. You go through the ride, twisting and turning around blacklight scenes in London, The Green Dragon pub with its twirling beer glasses suspended in mid-air. The law finds you, prosecutes you, you see train lights, and then it gets very hot. You return to the loading area. Simple, but highly unusual. I give it five stars because kid me was completely oblivious to its message; I was just happy to drive a car! I give it five stars because it's still here. I give it five stars because it's a time machine to a different era of morals and messaging. I give it five stars because it was created by Walt Disney himself, and there's not much of that left around today. read more

Eh. Although I'll admit I know nothing of Mr Toad or any stories associated with the character, I didn't feel I needed to to attempt to enjoy the ride. After the ride, if my life depended on explaining the "story" for this ride, I'd be dead. The animatronics and art were good of course, but the "story" made no sense for someone unfamiliar with the character. As far as an actual ride, again, the design/art/animatronics were good as most things in Disneyland - but compared to a large portion of rides, this seemed very dated. Thankfully the line for this wasted time was short - BUT I had someone directly behind me that smelled so bad it was like his body didn't touch water in over a decade. Once inside the confining line space, it got worse. Though I saved my nose and tried breathing through my mouth, it wasn't much change. I was only grateful once I was in the ride to get away from this smelly park goer. On a hot day, some of the ac inside the ride felt good - until you get to the "hell" portion, which is hot air. Understandable for the story and the effect, but that sucked on the way out. If there is an avoidable ride in Disneyland, this is certainly in the top 5. read more

The wildest ride in Fantasyland! Sure it may be a bit old, it may be filled with plywood cut outs, the wheels may be a bit squeaky, and you may take a quick trip through the depths of hell, but that's why it's awesome! Bit of trivia knowledge for you, this is one of the very few rides remaining that were in the park on opening day in 1955! A lot of people think this ride is outdated, or maybe they've just never seen Wind in the Willows or the Adventures of Incabod and Mr. Toad, but I think Disneyland needs to prefer these golden age rides. There's not that many of them left and it's a piece of Disneyland history. I love the nostalgia of this ride, how it hasn't been updated with projections or 3D, how the cars are the same as when I was a kid. The run time isn't the longest, but neither is the line wait. The wait is never usually longer that 10 minutes. Even if it's a super busy day at the park you can count on the wait to be super short. So strap in, hold on tight and enjoy the ride! read more

It's a one of a kind ride. You'll only be able to ride this ride at Disneyland in Anaheim, so that makes this a must ride. It's located just off to the right as you come through Sleeping Beauty's castle. It's designed for kids, so don't expect too much for the bigger kids as they might get bored. You're just there for the ride as you ride through the different scenes. Although it's a pretty short ride, I think it's a tad darker and perhaps scarier than the Haunted Mansion ride. read more

Just as the rating says, yes Mr. Toad I am a fan of your Wild Ride. Out of all the Fantasyland attractions I think Mr. Toad may have the coolest name. Other rides with names like Snow White's Scary Adventure and Small World are catchy but do not conger up quite the same image that a title about a wild ride does. The line for Mr. Toad is either hit or miss. It will either have no line at all or the line will snake out the side of the building and be 30 minutes long. I guess it just all depends on the day and the time you go. Early in the day or late at night would be the best two times to ride, but that can be said of almost every single attraction at Disneyland. The ride itself is fast...lots of twists and turns with many things to see and bright colors at times. There is a hell type scene that may be a bit scary for the littlest of children so if they are easily scared you might be best skipping this attraction and riding Peter Pan next door. But everyone else can take a ride on here to nowhere in particular. :0) read more

I mean way before the days of intergrating video equipment into attractions. It's all painted wooden characters, loud prerecorded voice tracks all while trying to survive the twist and turns of dear old Mr. Toad's crazy driving skills. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, located in Fantasyland in Disneyland Anaheim, is apparently one of the few rides still around since the opening of the park in 1955. Guests are able to hop onto a miniature early 1900 multi-colored motor car for a little spin, heading towards multiple obstacles and veering off at the last second as being taken through various scenes from the classic Children's literature, "The Wind in the Willows". The nice thing about this ride is that the line tends to be much shorter than the more popular rides in Fantasyland, such as Dumbo and Peter Pan's Flight, so it's a great filler ride for your child, so he/she won't feel like they're constantly waiting in these long lines for every single ride at Disneyland. It can get hot standing in line with the sun directly shining on you, so wear your sunscreen on those hot days and don't forget to keep a bottle of water on you to stay hydrated! read more

As fun as Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is in its current incarnation, it's a shame you can't experience the ride as it was before the 1983 Fantasyland remodel. The funny thing about analyzing the original Mr. Toad is that many who are old enough to have ridden it have difficulty remembering it now. The ride retained the pitch-black interior and blacklight illumination. Many of the gags are the same as before, and we can all be thankful that the bumpy railroad ties and the locomotive in the tunnel were retained. Shortly after the locomotive gag, however, you reach the "hell" scene, which has been cooled and quenched. Gone are the giggling little red demons all over the wall and the sweltering steambath, replaced by watered-down demons and a tepid temp before exiting. Every time I ride Mr. Toad, the ending is so disappointing that all I can remember is the old version, and can't even tell you in any detail what's there now--just that it's inferior. Still, it's my favorite Fantasyland ride, possibly only owing to Peter Pan always being too crowded (and its beginning remodeled for the worse), and the Casey Jr. train being subject to extreme wind chill late on non-summer nights when I always seem to want to ride it. read more

Hop onto a motor car and be merrily on your way to nowhere in particular. You'll be in a hurry, with no time to stall. You'll just have to be there. But where? Can't recall. Board your motor car and careen through Toad Hall, the country side, a shipping dock, a warehouse, the streets of London, through Winkie's Pub, around Town Square, in court where the Judge finds you "Guilty!". Break through jail and follow the train tracks, only to be hit by a train. Because of all the recklessness, find yourself in Hell, where you see the Judge as ... the devil? Before you know it, you are back inside Toad Manor. This attraction is a wild and zany dark ride. Because of the feeling of driving reckless, the motor cars feel a bit faster than the other dark rides like Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio. Maybe it's because of all the hairpin turns the ride has. This is really a fun ride. And one can tell that it's fun by the look of the passengers getting off. Majority of them come off laughing. Although some do come off crying, which tend to be the little ones. This attraction may frighten young children as there are loud noises, strobes, and Hell. This attraction is based off of Disney's adaptation of The Wind and the Willows. read more

Tucked away next to Peter Pan is this hidden gem of a ride. Safe for all ages, this ride makes great use of small space using tight turns to emulate the dangerous driving of toad, and provides for an entertaining experience with an unusual in modern times lesson at the end. read more

A classic ride that has only been improved since the original build. Since the ride is short, the lines are usually never long. Younger generations may not know who Mr. Toad or any of his friends are, so the story may come off as confusing. Otherwise, it's a fun ride when other Fantasyland attractions are busy. read more

I'll be the first to admit that I have NO idea what in the hell is happening on this ride. I went on it the first time because it's one of my husband's favorites from when he was a kid. Having never been, I figured what the heck? and climbed into a car. What's going on inside those rooms, I have no clue. There's driving and crashing and trains coming right at you and a judge and then...is that...HELL? You let kids come on this ride?! Still, it was an unexpectedly fun ride. Despite the fact that I have no idea why Toad went to hell. And how he got out. And what the deuce was going on before he got sent to hell. And who all those people were. And... Oh, screw it. It's a fun, wild ride. Just don't over-think it, if you don't know the story. And if you DO know the story, can you help enlighten a sister? =/ read more

One of my favorite dark rides at Disneyland! This is not for little kids (or adults) who are easily scared. The queue is just a short wait as the ride is constant. And even though there is a steering wheel, it doesn't actually steer the ride. It's a jerky kinda of ride with the pictures tricking your eyes, making you think you're going one way when you're really entering another door. The end of the ride was a surprise to me only because I hadn't gone since I was 7 but you basically go through hell and it's hot room. It's one crazy ride but it's really fun! read more

This is a great classic ride and I believe one of the few remaining rides from when Disneyland opened. It was most recently updated in 1984 I read so this is not an up to date thrill ride. You would go on this ride if you had small children which we do or for the nostalgia of it all. I have been told this ride is based on The Wind in the Willows or is associated in some way because I was not familiar with the Disney tie in. You basically get in a car and it takes you through the story. A lot of twist and turns and placards being thrust on you suddenly. The setup is very similar to the other rides in Fantasyland such as Peter Pan, Pinocchio, etc. I am glad there are old rides still in the park as it can remind one of the days before we were even born. read more
