I've always noticed that Toyworld is a little too cramped, a combination of having too much stock in small aisles. Out of all their suburban outlets, the Mt Gravatt Toyworld takes the prize for being the most chaotic.
Bargain bins line the front of the shop and spill open onto the footpath. On some occasions (during mega sales), they set up an outdoor marquee with buckets of final line items which is definitely worth rummaging through. Don't expect to get much help from staff at this store. They're too busy ringing up sales. It's all pretty self-explanatory anyway. If a particular item is not on the shelf, then it's not at the shop.
You would think tempers would run high between wearied parents, overworked staff and tantrum-prone children, but staff, customers and kids take everything in their stride. Parents didn't even get upset when I accidentally pushed in at the sales counter. Then again, they were too busy stopping their kids from pawing the $3 boy/ girl lucky dip - a clever shop strategy methinks to turnover nasty, unsold stock.
That aside, I always come here to buy cheap presents - not the big birthday gifts but the $10 or under gifts for minor celebrations. read more
