Good experience. Comfortable and elegant, for the most part. The coffee pot didn't work in our room and they had no replacement. Other than that, we loved the 24/7 use of the golf cart (there's a golf cart that is assigned to each of the rooms). The rating would have been 5 stars if two of the cooks (a millennial and an older one) had not come literally running out of the kitchen, yelling at me and my spouse saying 'EXCUSE ME...., MAY I HELP YOU?'. This occurred when my spouse and I were simply trying to view the historic buildings, and admire the lovely landscaping outside of the main house. We told them that we were staying on the property for a few days and were just looking around. The one old hispanic lady cook said "I know! You can't walk around here! You can't go in there!" Well, we weren't 'going in' anywhere; nor did we want to 'go inside' of any of the dilapidating peripheral buildings (who would?). :) We were just admiring the history of the buildings - from the outside. We found this incident to be offensive, distasteful and discriminatory, especially since other patrons were doing the same thing on earlier days, without the same attack. In addition, we also found this incident to be offensive, distasteful and discriminatory, especially since this attack was coming from Latino cooks - particularly during this day and age of 'the wall' controversy. :-) Not cool. Hurt people, hurt people. This behavior will not elevate one's 'status' in society, however. :-) We spoke to the concierge about it and they spoke to the cooks, who later apologized, but we were served cold food afterwards. Other than that, we enjoyed the fireplace, which should have been turned on more often. It was only turned on a couple of short times and only after searching around the house in an effort to find and ask someone to turn it on. If we left the area for a quick kitchen run, they would turn it off, however. The history of the facade and the antiquity of the room were neat to see, it reminded me of my grandmother's house while growing up similarly as a child. The ice cream bar was minimal and the menu for the meals is the exact same for each day. Beware of that if you love variety in terms of food and dessert choices. The menu could be updated for more appeal. We've stayed at the Ritz, on numerous occasions and this place is not comparable but the views are amazing nonetheless. For almost $2000.00, for 21/2 days, we expect the best of the best - of everything; we expect the best of the best in every realm of service also. Mt Ada is like taking a step back in time when you visit this beautiful mansion built high upon the hill in the 1920's, retaining its charm with era matching furnishings, is high above Avalon harbor in a private setting made for a very relaxing stay. From the time our concierge picked us up at the dock to shuttle us up to Mt Ada, to the time we checked out, the concierges made us feel at home and attended to our every need. We had several concierges during our stay, with all providing excellent service. A special shout out to Cammie and Pierre for their professional attitude and helpful spirit. Pierre arrived the last morning of our stay and when we came back from an outing in our golf cart, he saw us heading up the steps and hurried to meet us at the front door, opened it and welcomed us back. That's what you call a "moment", of outstanding service! Breakfast and lunch were provided and the food was excellent. The chef has nice menu selections and presents the food nicely. All in all, everyone at Mt Ada from house keeping to head concierge, were wonderful. This wasn't our first time staying at Mt Ada and God willing, not our last. This place was amazing beside all the spectacular views. The service staff was excellent and made our visit more delightful than we expected. Pierre helped us when are golf cart wasn't working properly and Sean made sure to reserve a table with a view off the balcony every morning and lunch hour. Parker helped us as well by making sure we arrived at our flight with ample time to spare. Absolutely Outstanding is right. i have long wanted to stay at The Inn and when the opportunity arrived, i had reservations about what to expect in terms of level of service as the management has changed hands. i am pleased to report my reservations were unfounded and my stay exceeded all expectations. i spent 3 nights at The Inn, solo, during a period of intense personal turmoil. The warmth of every member of the staff, particularly my hostess Chris, combined with the incredible beauty and comfort of the Inn, served as a healing salve i'll always be grateful for. The attention to detail and personal interaction is simply superb. i stayed in the Queen's Aviary which features its own petite sitting room, magnificent views of the harbor, grand old bathtub, and world-class bed. Oh the bed - never wanted to leave it. Lodging at The Inn includes breakfast, lunch, and a fine assortment of nibbles & libations for Happy Hour. Dining anywhere else on the Island is a total letdown in comparison. i was on a mission to enjoy a Lychee martini - i brought my own can of Lychees and incorrectly assumed the Inn would have vodka - and darn it all if Chris didn't fetch me a bottle on her way to pick up incoming guests. Thanks Chris for the above & beyond! i hiked the canyon & walked Avalon one of the days and spent another lounging and reading in a soft overstuffed chair in one of the living rooms, enjoying the gentle sea breeze. In my visits to the Island over the years, i have camped at BlackJack, stayed in a scuba diver's hostel, stayed at the Pink Hotel and now at The Inn. My stay was decadent and it was worth every penny & then some. For anyone considering a stay, i highly recommend it. FYI The Inn will be closed for renovations for a portion of next year. i wish them all the best as they will be repairing the foundation. PS Did i mention the mascots at the Inn? I had a blast during my 3 day stay. The staff could not be more warm and courteous. The house was beautiful and no detail was overlooked. It is no wonder that despite the price, this place is booked for months in advance. The attitude of the staff summed up: Help yourself! Here is where we keep the wine, beers, champagne, soft drinks and bottled water. Help yourself! Here is where we keep the ice cream, all the fixings you need to make a kick-ass sundae and frosted mugs for a root beer float. Help yourself! The fruit and nuts basket is restocked throughout the day. Help yourself! Here is our hard liquor cabinet. Help yourself! We bake fresh cookies, scones and muffins everyday. Coffee and tea is here as well. Help yourself! The DVD and book collection is here for you. Help yourself! Here is your golf cart which will be your transport during your stay. Favorite place in the world and would probably come back to the island for only this GEM! It was my first time on the island and it was pretty bleh we did the basic stuff but having lunch here made everything worthwhile. I would highly recommend yourself to reserve a spot at this high end restaurant. Service - A+ Food - A+ Scenery - A+++++ The only thing it was a bit hard to locate, we were planning to walk up because my gps made it seem close, but it wasn't so we got a taxi halfway up. PTL. However on the way back we walked down to burn those yummy calories, and it was doable even pushing a stroller! The menu is fixed and the $$$ is totally worth it! We were full for the whole day! I got the steak and it was delish! For the rest of the options I went with their recommendations! I do want to say thank you to them for letting us seat an hour or so early from our reservation. The old saying "You get what you pay for." was made for a place like The Inn on Mt. Ada!!! Price: It is one of the higher priced places to stay on Catalina but it is worth every penny and more. The fact that you have YOUR OWN GOLF CART during your entire stay absolutely makes up for any price differences with the other hotels. I'm not lazy it's just a long walk to Descanso Beach. Location: I go to Catalina to get away from the madness that is Los Angeles but if I'm in a hotel in the middle of Avalon it doesn't quite feel like I've left the insanity that is "the city". The fact that the inn is tucked away in its own secluded spot away from the masses is what helps make a vacation an actual vacation. Absolute peace, quiet, and serenity. Food: The best advice I can give any prospective client of this place is to think of the inn as a stay over at grandma's house in the summer. Don't expect meals with funny sauces, elaborate plate decorations, etc. Their breakfast and lunch meals are well prepared, good tasting, and fills your stomach without emptying your wallet since the meals are already included in your bill. The BEST PART about the food here is that there is some available for those late midnight snacks. I went down on a midnight run and grabbed a bowl of popcorn, HOMEMADE peanut butter cookies (all the cookies they offered were homemade), and a bottle of Cabernet to bring up to the room. That wasn't all just for me by the way. Imagine all that and more at no additional cost. Soda, fresh fruit, water, ice cream, and all the different kinds of alcohol you can handle at NO ADDITIONAL charge. Service: Suzie, one of the innkeepers, reminds me of one of those mothers that all your friends wanted to go to her house because she is very warm and inviting. The rest of the staff are very nice, accommodating, and cordial. When my friend and I came back from scuba diving around 10am they were waiting to make us breakfast and even brought it up to the room because we were just exhausted. Now that's SERVICE!!! They didn't have to but they did and I made sure to tip them for that. Overall, this place makes the most financial sense for a vacation get away. I will recommend this place to everyone that plans to go to Catalina. I will be back and DO NOT plan to stay anywhere else in Catalina. In years past I would be hesitant to leave a review on our favorite place because part of the charm is the fact few people know about it. But in honor of Yelpers everywhere, i thought this was the year i would share this great place with the rest of world. This was our fourth stay at the Inn and as always, we were very pleased. By far, this is the nicest place to stay on Catalina. You will love any of the rooms, (we have stayed in the Garden Room the last 3 years which is the least expensive, but we have also stayed in The Windsor and one other - not the suite - which were larger) the beautiful observation deck that looks down onto Avalon, the great room, and the fact you can enjoy popcorn, ice-cream sundays, champagne, wine, nuts, grapes and fresh fruit any time you want. The staff are the best and the food is excellent. We also love the fact you are given your own golf cart which are the nicest on the island, and you can go to the service side of Avalon and visit the Buffulo Nickel where you will enjoy the best fajitas anywhere. The road to that side of town is off limits to all but locals and automobiles and guest of Mt. Ada. There are so many things to like about Mt. ADA - like the cozy love seats in the piano parlor, the fire place, the deck chairs over looking both Avalon and the Mainland, the Appetizer hour, the fresh baked muffins and jelly in the morning, ample champagne and wines, the wide selection of DVD;s and videos, the book collection, the photographs and paintings, the piano, the sherry and port, cookies, the friendly cats and the pretty red-headed wood-peckers - I can't fit them here so visit their website. You should also make reservations early and expect to pay a few extra bucks for this place (there are far cheaper places but none include so much and give you the best view of the Harbor and Avalon). Take my review as only one persons findings. I will be as neutral as possible and only describe what I saw on that day on that particular trip. Your experience could vary from mine. What an experience! We had an extended family vacation here and we where not disappointed. Located at the top of the hill, and I believe the highest property on the island as we looked down on to everything, there are fantastic views. The inn has six bedrooms and we took up five of them with the sixth being vacant. This made our experience even better as it was pretty much our house with our own personal staff. We could literally leave something in one of the rooms and not worry about getting it until later. We had a corner room which had amazing views and I think, aside from the master suite, was the best room. It is the Windsor Room and I recommend it. Each room I believe has a fireplace as well. The building is older, built in the early 1920's if I remember correctly, and does show some wear but was none the less fantastic. There is talk of upgrading it in the future so I can't wait to see it then. If you stay here you are really paying for the experience, treatment and ambiance. Those things are definitely top notch. Breakfast and lunch where included with our stay and the food was very, very good. There is a pantry that we had access to at all times which was stocked with wine, beer, soda, water, juices, snacks, ice cream etc. We also had access to golf carts to put around the island in, and also a spa for use of a pool and hot tub. This is located down town and is not on site. We also had access to the nine hole golf course located in town as well. Around five at night a large tray of meats, cheeses, crackers or bread and fruit is brought out. We actually made this a meal for one night. During our stay the staff treated us like family. This includes the kitchen staff, concierge and the other employees. I'd name them but I'm afraid that I'd leave one out but they were all great. If you ever get the chance to stay here I recommend that you do it. I'd stay for at least two nights though. Check out my other reviews about things in the area to do. read more

We got married here. Lisa, Sean, Pierre and Angelica were absolutely amazing. They made our wedding so unique and special. I can't recommend Ada highly enough. What a wonderful setting. Hospitality is on par with any place in the country. We stayed in room 3 and the view was to die for. This review is for the lunch, I have not stayed here. My family visits Catalina every summer, we always stay at the Pavillion(which I HIGHLY recommend). This year, as a treat, I took myself and a book out to lunch as I've always looked longingly at the inn from the city down below. I was so disappointed in the food. It is a prix fix with 3 courses and beverages (including wine and beer). I had the green gazpacho, which had the consistency of a loose guacamole. The taste was bland. Then I had the halibut, it was severely over cooked and dry, and the vegetables underneath weren't seasoned, I only ate half of it. The server, who was very pleasant, did ask if I wanted something else but I declined. Then came the chocolate cake. Full disclosure...I'm a baker so I can be picky as I feel restaurant often don't make them in house. This was no exception, it was more icing than cake and tasted more artificial than chocolately. I will say that the view is worth a million dollars, it was a lovely place to sit and sip sparkling wine for an hour, but for the price of lunch, I expected the food to be much better. read more

Review for lunch only as a walk in customer- This was probanly the highlight of the whole entire trip out to catalina. Great ambience, great food and great view. I think this is probably one of the nicest view you can get out in the island. Before coming, my husband did researched om this place for lunch, but he couldn't get a hold to anyone and couldn't make a reservation before hand. But we passed by this place while someone just came out through the gated doors, so we just tried our luck and go in to ask for a seat. We were super lucky to get seated right the way. So apparently, they only take extra 20 non- hotel guests reservations. Simply because its a very small "restaurant" ( its more of a mansion that converted into a hotel). It has maybe about 8 tables out on the patio, and 1 to 2 tables inside. I really enjoyed the ambience because its a quaint vintage mansion, with a homey vibe. Where the tables are have a stunning ocean view. They serve set menu of 3 course lunch, apetitizer, main and dessert. Oh most importantly, drinks are bottomless- mimosa, red, white, juice and tea. You can have whatever you want included in the lunch prefix price - $48! It was a great price! I thought i would be park of the captive customers trapped on this island that i will have to pay premium for everything. And on top food was great too. For good, we have a crabmeat salad , a blue cheese with sliced apple salad, a lamb burger, and flank steak for entree, and a mint sauced panna cotta and a melted sticky toffee bread pudding with ice cream. They were all very good. Salad were fresh, small portions but well prepared. I do enjoyed the lamb burger much more than the steak, cooked medium , juicy with a nice sweet caramelized onions garnishing. The steak is a bit too chewy for medium rare. And its a bit ordinary. However, I love ending the meal with the bread pudding dessert. The warm bread pudding soaked in the warm melted toffee in a bite with the cold silky vanilla ice cream... yummmm so good. Their wine were decent, and i felt like the mimosa is mucb better in this hot weather. Pairing with some hot tea, it was really a perfect lunch.. ONLY EXCEPT, you have to battle with bees. There are a lot of bees around for outdoor seating. So its a non stop battle with them, trying to keep them away from our food without being stung. It was still worth it though. We wouldnt have come up if the gate was not open as we passed by. It was an intimidating setup. You will have to intercom to get someone open the gate to drive up to the hotel if the gate was closed. However, I would still recommend just try your luck and call in. And take a taxi! We rented the 2 hour golf cart that we have to rushed out to return out cart. Highly recommended for lunch! It has been on my bucket list to see the inside of Wrigley Mansion which is now the Inn At Mt Ada. For our 20th wedding anniversary we booked Wrigleys Suite. This stay has far, far, far exceeded our expectations. Let's start with the feeling that you are actually living the life of Wrigley, which in and of itself was amazing. There were deer wandering on and off the property. A house cat, Big Foot who made us feel welcome. In addition, we were treated so incredibly well by the entire staff. Anything you wanted, anytime you wanted, your wish was granted. Breakfast, Lunch, wine, a delish platter of cheeses, etc. Amazing homemade cookies. How could a place make you feel so welcome even during the pandemic. I look forward to returning when the pandemic is over. Made a lunch reservation after being told it was a must experience. At $62 a person for a 3 course set meal I was expecting to be blown away. The food was mediocre at best. There were bees everywhere and my husband was stung. The staff was no help but finally provided a napkin with a few ice cubes as his hand swelled to twice the normal size. Most of the pictures, previous guests have posted, no longer represent what is currently offered. Since being taken over and managed by The Catalina Island Company, it saddens me to report a decline of services offered, as well as attention given to detail. They can't change the fabulous views or historic significance of this fabulous inn, but much to our dismay, they have made other changes which greatly saddens my husband, friends and family, who have been staying here yearly for decades. The most significant was the elimination of their gourmet lunch. Instead of enjoying our arrival with a delightful meal and relaxing ambiance, as we waited for our guest room, we found ourselves having to drive into touristy Avalon to find lunch. Luckily they still offer a gulf cart to get in & out of town. The pen lent for signing registration papers was made of cheap plastic, laughably with another hotel's name on it. Nothing here is branded with the Mt. Ada insignia. No more souvenir products sold to commemorate one's stay. There isn't even a sign at the front gate. They may not need a menu for lunch (as shown in old photos), but eliminated them for breakfast selections, as well. Perhaps it's because the breakfast isn't what it use to be, with starters, a delightful selection of entrees followed by decadent beverages. In our room, which was the same room we stayed in last year, there wasn't even the usual pen and paper on the nightstand, which by the way, was still missing a knob in need of replacement from last year. The chair next to it was still frayed, as well. There were no courtesy slippers offered in the armoire, but I did find a previous guest's old jogging pants there. It was delightful having a fresh wreath on our guest room door and a faux tree in the room, however it would have been nice if it had been plugged in & lit when we arrived, because it was challenging trying to find its outlet. Turn down service was offered, but apologetically so, without the customary chocolate on the pillows, due to it not being approved in their budget! Compared to its past, the holiday decorations were seriously lacking. At one time, on the side of the house facing Avalon, you could see the roofline beautifully lit with holiday lights and large wreaths. They use to have beautifully ornamented straw reindeer on display at the gates and in front of the inn, but no more. Every inch of the inn use to be decorated, and was so enchanting. I would estimate a 70% cut back on holiday decor. Last year and this, there were poinsettia plants displayed around and about, but the store's price tags were still showing...tacky! In the inn's public restroom, the shutters were in dire need of repair, with curtain hardware hanging above them, but no curtain. Above the toilet was a large screw where artwork once hung. In the sitting room outside, the charming fireplace and Its architecturally appropriate surrounding game cupboards were removed. The coffee table there was replaced with a modernly styled stark white one, which does not lend itself well to the traditional decor. A chair in that room had its bottom lining torn and hanging down. The couch in the room overlooking the city had an arm panel so loose it fell off. In spite of all these issues, for the sake of tradition and fond memories, we're not giving up our stays at this beloved inn. The staff is very kind and doing their best to accommodate guests with what they're allowed by the cooperate offices. Management, having clumped Mt. Ada in with their other lodging venues there, seems to have taken away from the inn's exclusivity. I sincerely hope they wake up and begin managing it in ways which will bring back its former glory. read more

This was such a lovely place. My partner and I celebrated my birthday here--the service, food, room, and amenities were spectacular. We didn't do much research when we booked so it was a pleasant surprise that breakfast, lunch, snacks, and golf cart were all included with the stay. It's was the perfect peaceful spot on the hill. The only disappointment was the cake for the missed moments package--way too sweet. We could have skipped it. But all in all, this is our most talked about trip and we reference it whenever we stay at a hotel. We still remember Chris, Cassy and Pierre; they were such a phenomenal team and they handled every detail of all the guests by themselves in the middle of a pandemic. Pierre stayed up to wait for us to return when we got lost navigating up the hill in the golf cart at night. We could not have been more grateful. read more

For our second trip to Catalina Island, we decided to stay at Mt. Ada Bed and Breakfast aka Wrigley Mansion. I enjoyed the historical ambiance of the place in spite of the old home smell, as well as the fantastic view of Avalon and harbor below. The concierge (Liz and Parker and Pierre) are friendly and professional. I enjoyed the breakfast and lunch menus as well as the 24 hour beer, snacks, ice cream, etc. I also enjoyed the daily access to the golf cart, but the only negative I have is the big mosquito problems. They should spray pesticides to minimize the mosquito problem as well as a bug zapper placed around the property. The highlight of of stay is meeting Bigfoot, the resident cat. read more

My husband and I stayed here last year in December for four days and got married here on the balcony during our stay. From booking our stay (the woman on the phone was SO nice. I think her name was Shannon. She was also there during our stay), to arriving, and to the moment we left, this place was INCREDIBLE. We stayed in the smallest room, the Garden Porch, but it was perfect for us. It is at the end the hall and has it's own private porch. We were picked up (I think by Joy) as soon as we arrived on the island. EVERY staff member we encountered during our stay was amazing, welcoming, and so kind. Our stay included breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus access to the butler's pantry, which had snacks like fruit, a huge selection of drinks (sodas, waters, juices, wine), ice cream, and much more. Every morning, a table was set up upstairs in the hallway with fresh croissants, tea, and coffee. Every evening at 5, wine and cheese is served in the living room. Also included was a golf-cart to use during our stay, access to the Island Spa Catalina (also amazing), a behind-the-scene tour at the casino, and a $25 dining credit to the Avalon Grille. I might be missing other things included in our stay. Although some might think the stay is pricey, it is WORTH IT. The staff treats you like royalty, the house is huge, beautiful, and extremely clean. (Six rooms and when we went, there was only one other couple staying there), and so much extra is included! One of the best vacation rentals I've had in a long time! Booked three rooms for a vacation getaway with coworkers & had the best VIP treatment possible. Joy was such a pleasure. Waited on us hand & foot, accommodating every need. Food was outstanding, customer service was 10 stars, rooms were incredible & the view was nothing short of breathtaking. This was for sure top 5 on my list for best vacation experiences. Everything from food, alcohol, golf carts, & VIP treatment all included. Would do it all over again. Having withdrawals as we speak. For anyone who enjoys the absolute finest accomodations a city or town has to offer, the Inn on Mt. Ada is it on Santa Catalina Island. Where to begin? The first time my husband and I stayed here it was out of the graciousness of my Mother, who won an award for being the top selling real estate in her office, and was given a gift certificate for a two night stay at the Inn on Mt. Ada. Little did she know that when she gave us the gift certificate for our second wedding anniversary, she was giving us a truly golden experience. We only stayed two nights, but it was so incredibly relaxing and care free that we honeslty felt as though we'd been on a week's long vacation. First, a kind and knowledgeable man (Michael, I believe) picks you up from the boat dock and drives you in a van to the Inn. He knows a lot about Catalina, so be sure to ask. When you get to the Inn you are given a tour of the place, told the history (which is fascinating) and given the keys to your golf cart. The Inn is the former mansion owned by William Wrigley, Jr. For more info., be sure to visit the website. A night's stay at the Inn includes a golf cart for your use, a sit down restaurant-style breakfast and lunch, on the patio overlooking Avalon(the food is home cooked and spectacular), a beautiful room (most with balconies - some with fireplaces), and all the champagne, beer and wine you can drink during your stay. You can simply help yourself to the bar at any time, and there's even ice cream and root beer (for floats) and popcorn in the kitchen - which you can help yourself to all day or night. I believe there's even a hosted wine reception at happy hour. Outside your door in the morning will be FRESH BAKED pastries and muffins that are still hot, plus freshly brewed coffee. In addition to this you will be served breakfast from a menu down in the dining area. The robes they provide are luxurious. The food for breakfast and lunch is absolutely scrumptious - top quality - and you get to order off a menu so there are many choices. The food is fresh and healthy, but also incredibly tasty. There are a couple of public rooms - including a beautiful library with plush chairs to lounge in. It's always quiet and peaceful. Also, the view is startling no matter where you are, as the Inn is perched high atop the town of Avalon. OK - the catch - there are only six rooms and they vary in price, and they are very expensive. BUT, for what you get it is SOOO worth it. The other catch is that you must make reservations well in advance of your stay, especially during peak season. We decided to repay my Mother by buying her and my Dad a two night's stay, and we also decided to join them. Accordingly, we wanted two rooms, for the same nights, in the summer months and we had to make the reservations an entire year ahead of time. Again - SOOOO worth it. I am torn about posting this review because I am afraid to give away the secret of this place. I don't want to have to wait longer than a year to get a reservation. I'm currently sitting here and taking the time to write a review because our stay has been that amazing. This is the PERFECT social distancing vacation. There were only 6 people staying at the property and we were told that it has now been closed to external visitors for the time being. We literally had the best views of the island and were able to have our meals or just enjoy the scenery with no one else around us. The complimentary pick up in a Mercedes van and use of our own personal golf cart helped us in maintaining our distance from the crowd. Everything was clean and the service was impeccable. I read reviews before we booked voicing concerns over new management. Let me assure you, the service was second to none. This property knows how to be accommodating to your every need, yet inconspicuous at the same time. We had all the privacy we needed with full service. I understand the concerns over the details of the rooms. Yes, this is an old mansion. Many fixtures are original. You are paying top dollar to have the best accommodations, views, and service on an entire island. Mt Ada is not the four seasons and does not market itself as such. This experience is similar to having a friend with old money pick you up on an island and host you at their old family mansion. Mt. Ada doesn't need to be modern to be valuable. In fact, many might argue that it's history is the value. Do not hesitate to book here. There's just no way you'll regret it. My wife and I stayed at the Zane Grey for 2 nights (OK, great views, needs some polish and breakfast not good). We had lunch here the day before my wife's 50th birthday - great great great! We were due to return to the mainland late on her birthday when we were told that because of the high gale force winds, no boats to Dana Point would be running - closed! We were stranded on the island! Called Michael at the Mt. Ada Inn and asked for a "great price" - he reduced the rate and we were now spending my wife's birthday night at the Wrigley Mansion, we stayed in the former sleeping porch room. The Great: Michael was very nice to us, Suzie was the best, warm, friendly, hugging and just wonderful! While our room was small (just a few ft of room beyond our queen size bed), it was excellent overall - great bathroom, great views. I loved the pre-breakfast breakfast at 7 AM. The real breakfast was just unbelievable. Suzie said lunch was included (which was after our checkout time) and we could have the golf cart and extra 4-5 hrs! The view is the best, the food was great, ALL the help were wonderful. In short, the best Bed and Breakfast that we have ever stayed in! Yes, it was expensive, but it was my wife's Big 5-0 birthday and if you are going to be stranded, let it be the Mt. Ada Inn. I can only say great things about our experience. We will never forget our weekend here (lunch on Sat, one night on Sunday) - Staff also let me use their computer as I needed to email work/school that I would be missing Monday.... Again - if you can't stay here, at least have lunch here! It will be the highlight of your trip to Catalina! read more

We had a party of six visiting Catalina for the weekend. Someone on the ferry recommended the Mt. Ada Inn as a good place for lunch. Let the buyer beware - I should know better than to take advice from a blowhard on the ferry. We made our reservation and were excited to get in. We were welcomed by the hostess and told to make ourselves at home (but don't go upstairs!) until 3pm at which time you must leave. This sounded great but the guests who were staying at the in claimed their spots on the chairs and couches like a dog marking his territory by leaving a book or sweater strategically located to indicate that you better not sit there. So the hospitality was curtailed and the places to sit and enjoy the pricey view were limited. The management did nothing to address the issue. While the view was sweeping and magnificent the fixed price ($33 per person) lunch was only slightly better than Denny's. For example, my lunch salad with tuna - was mostly iceberg lettuce with some diced tomatoes and a scoop of tuna salad. The menu is extremely limited with a few burgers and a daily "authentic" Mexican dish that looked very run of the mill. The unlimited wine and beer consisted mostly of one or two barely average domestic wines (a red and a white), and beers like Miller MGD and Bud. Oh - there was one bottle of Sam Adams but that was as exotic as things got. Our server was engaging and added some local color - but overall the experience was lackluster and not anywhere near worth the more than $200 tab for 6. There are plenty of good views on Catalina - and you can see them for free and get a very good meal in town. Don't waste your money on lunch at The Inn at Mt. Ada. read more

The B&B was a really great change of pace and the staff is wonderful! The rooms all have a spectacular view and are nicely appointed. Being a historic home it still manages to have most modern conveniences you would want. The use of a golf cart with the room makes it super easy to enjoy the town. It's a great hidden gem! read more

This place is heaven. In the spirit of full disclosure I will say some might think the rooms show their age, which is mostly noticeable with the funky bathrooms, but you are paying to enjoy this lovely piece of history! The amenities are incredible and the use of your own dedicated golf cart alone makes this place worth it. I thought the water bottles and lap blankets for the carts were an especially nice touch! The reviewer below who claimed the waitress was rude must've been looking through a rude lens or something as that lady was one of the nicest, most polite servers I've ever met! (In my experience the salad ALWAYS came out before the entree so what kind of silly comment is that, Jenna R.? I think perhaps you had an issue with her small language barrier, really. Oh and the cookies were different and fresh at least twice a day when I was there!! ) My server told me about the secret option for a "mixed" salad so I could get a little bit of all 3 of them on one plate. And boy were they all yum! The mushroom burger was very tasty also, so much so I had it both days. I think I spoiled myself for staying anywhere else in Catalina in the future! I stayed here just one night (and 2 days) and the grand relaxing effect I felt afterwards told me it had to have been longer!
