We brought our three boys in to be vaxxed/checked before a planned road trip. They are indoor cats, so they do not have a lot of vet visits, which we had informed the office. $700, and we got to deal with ANIMAL CONTROL. The incompetent vet tech decided not to secure Josh for a blood draw. Instead, they thought they could hold an unknown older cat (without his mum) and do the blood draw. Josh bit the vet tech. Cats are going to the cat, especially when scared. Rather than handle it, they decided to call animal control, which I now get to manage. No apology. No refund. Nothing. They messed up, and we get to deal with the fallout of selecting the wrong vet office. If you love your pets like family, consider anywhere else. read more

I have an 89 pound bundle of nervous love pibble who has big feelings about other big dogs and is very fussy about nail trims and blood draws. Everyone at Mt Pleasant from front staff to techs to Dr Boland are very good with Diesel, super patient if coaxing him takes a while, and respectful of my need to be present for office visits. They get us in a room quickly and help us make a dignified, dog-free exit when we're done. I've been going there since i moved to Virginia 8 months ago and I'm very happy. This vet clinic was a life saver for us this last week. We have a mini-dachshund that must've eaten something in our backyard and became VERY lethargic and was throwing up. Our dog is our LIFE. We were unable to have children so our pets ARE our babies. We live in VAB and called our local vet and every other vet in Virginia Beach........ALL turned us a way or told us we'd have up to a 6 HOUR WAIT. (What the hell?????) COVID has really destroyed this industry apparently...among many others. Well, this clinic came through for us and we are SO GRATEFUL! They literally met us at their door and took our baby and got him stabilized. They did blood work and tests and kept him most of the afternoon for observation. He ended up being OK thankfully...but we are SOOOO incredibly grateful to this clinic for: 1) actually agreeing to see us!! 2) giving us and our baby such wonderful care For those of you that live in Chesapeake, count yourselves very lucky to have this wonderful clinic near you! So I brought my dog in and one of the reasons was for her persistently itching. The vet prescribed her some oral medication and I told them I already have SOME of the topical spray they were going to give me. So they give me a card, that was initialed by the veterinarian, for some more spray in case I needed it. This Rx card has a different "RX number" than the bottle I already have at home, a different Exp. date than the one I have at home, and is initialed by the vet. Later when I go to pick this up (well within the Exp. date listed) I was told I have to bring her in again and that the card was just "instructions on how to use it". Why on earth would you give me instructions, for a prescription I ALREADY have (when ALL Rx's already come with instructions?) So they're telling me I have to pay for a whole new visit after I've already seen the vet for this same exact issue, to be given medication the vet already gave me a card for? It seems this business relies on their deceptive practices to squeeze more money from their customers. read more

Wanted to like them, I did. I gave them so many chances, but they are way worse than Hope Springs Vet. Again, support staff is subpar. The lady veterinarian is amazing. They cancelled an appointment after I arrived because I was late (stuck in traffic then bridge opened) although I had called them and they called me amd said yes everyone was running late due to the traffic. The time between call amd my arrival. Less than 20 minutes. Beware this establishment will ensure your bill will be $150-$300 no matter what they quote you. They always up charge to the extreme. Like ridiculously so. If you think BanField or Hope Springs up charges: these people make those two look like amateurs in the up charge business. Two people for the same vaccine within days of each other give different prices. They book and quote one price, look at your pets chart-tell you the cost and what needs done and when you pull up for the appointment the price increases by nearly double. Example: I called for a grooming appointment. Asked the girl to look and see what my dog would need. She needs a vaccine. $29 and some change. And the grooming. No fee for the doctor to see my dog. I am assured, nope. Ok. I am assured that's all that is needed. We have a set price max of $55 for the grooming and $29 for the vaccine. I arrive, early morning for the grooming and vaccine. Literally, the girl comes out to the car, and says okay well we are gonna need to do a well visit. Huh? And the price for that? $58. To look at my pet. The one that in the last 6 months they have seen several times? That they did a full blood panel on, twice? Just to make sure things were normal?!? No, not playing this game with them again. I ask why the change given I had them look at the chart when I called to make the appointment. Literally, the girl said "I can't answer that"! I said, so the well dog is $58, the vaccine is? She says $28. I was like, wait I was quoted $29 and some change. She tossed her hand up as of to say no big deal, and "said 28 or 29". At that I had enough of their bait and switch and said "and another $55 for the groom? No then, that's not okay." Appointment cancelled. I warn you, this place is simply awful with prices. What's quoted at $100 will cost you a minimum of $200. Of the six to 10 times I have been there in the last 6 months NEVER ever was the price what they quoted. Not one single time. I'm done being their cash cow. That new pet store opened at Hanbury, they do both vaccines and grooming. And I left Mount Pleasant and drove right over to Canine Designs and got an appointment quick like. Price at either of these places don't change. What they quote, you pay. read more

Just left the vet, another great visit! I love the fact the vet respects your time and gets you in and out but also really takes care of your pet. My appt time was 8:00 and I was out by 8:20. I want to say thank you to the staff for taking such great care of my baby boy. He was 8 years old and was suffering and I had to put him to sleep. He was the most lovable, sweetest dog anyone could ask for. From the time I arrived at Mt Pleasant the staff showed they cared and truly understood what I was going through. With Covid you can't go into the building to be with your pet, so they set up an area in the back yard and performed the ceremony out there so that my husband and I could be with him. They didn't rush us and Dr Noce sat with us and talked about Bandit and waited until we were ready. She let me hold him on my lap while my husband looked into his eyes. We are able to comfort our baby until the very end and after they allowed us to stay with him and told us to take our time. Thank you so much to the wonderful Dr and staff for taking and caring for our baby and also for the wonderful card you sent. My baby is at peace now and I it makes me happy knowing that he was in such loving care in his final moments. read more

We have been going here for the past 5 years and absolutely love this place. They are caring, willing to work you in for immediate problems and seem to really enjoy helping animals. This place generally either wins the Gold or Silver for Veterinary Medicine in the Pilotonline.com readers choice. Anyway, just wanted to add my review. Nothing really special to report. Sam (white) will have surgery on Thursday by Dr. Banta for a tumor on his eyelid and hoping for the best. Abbey had torn her ACL but, didn't require surgery and has been fine. She also has had stomach issues from allergies and has been on the special food to help. I should mention that we also see Dr Boland & Dr Dean who are excellent as well. read more

My cat did not act right by not eating or drinking since last Sunday and appeared to get worse day by day with some apparent high fever. So I called the clinic to make an appointment and received one on Tuesday at 1100. Had to leave work because of it, but hey, what are we all doing for our family 4 legged friends we love. Anyway, I dropped him off, explained all the symptoms, behaviors and possible fights etc... the cat was so thin and weak, definitely irritated and I was getting worried that he ate something poisoned and is close of dying. 20 min later Dr. K. Knaszak called back with no idea what it is. Two options, bring him to the vet ER or take blood test, urinalysis, fluids, blood pressure Convenia injection, some fluids and of course the "professional Consultation". The Vet consultation from dropping off, calling back, picking up and letting me wait for another 30 min outside was 45 min + 30 min wait total cost $514...?????? For what? Nothing received, no feedback, no real analysis, basically they have no clue and send him back while we wait for 72 hours for some other analysis company to get back to them. Oh, but of course come back so we can add more shit to keep him alive... poor kitty... So, I am pissed, who wouldn't be. I had once an emergency surgery on a Sunday for a cat tail almost being ripped off and paid $340. Expected, and actually low as I thought, until I met this incomvet and their staff who give not a rats ass about our 4 legged friends and having an animal becomes a luxury item to have. What about our psychological stress. Most people could not afford this or have to choose between feeding themself or let their animal suffer. We are not in that position luckily, but the thought of it made me even more angry that these people are allowed to practice. So I got a 10:00 p.m appointment at a different veterinarian clinic the following Thursday. What a delight. Took all the information from me, called in all the records and apparent blood test results that I paid for $514. 20 min into it, the vet called me back. Cat has ulcers in his mouth, gums bleeding, puncher wound on his nose (possibly from the fight) high fever, dehydrated, and his bloodwork (I guess one of the many I had to get apparently) showed elevated readings of something I can't recall, but are symptoms of eating poisoned plants or anything. Go figure, but finally an answer. No yellowness yet, so keeping the cat hydrated and priority to get him to eat. Oh and did I mention that my cat weight 9 lbs. apparently he weight 11.8 lbs in Feb 2020 and when I brought them to this vet on Tuesday he still was 11.8 lbs... bullshit. They did not even weight him, why bother.., people pay anyway... so pissed I received a full review and examination, fluids to the cats, Vitamine B boost, Mirtazapine Tablets, Simbadol injection for the pain, Feline Recovery food, but most of all an actual answer. Total price $172 This vet, remember?, listed none of these conditions found by the other vet, did not have a clue what it could be and possibly wasted all our time and especially gets paid $514 for it.. thinking of going to a lawyer anyway. So my final feedback... stay away, and find someone else around who truly cares and every animal is not just a pay check Well, back then it turned out the cat had liver cancer. Good job vet letting him suffer and not caring a bit about it at all. At least you got your money out off it. Horrible place... read more

My German Shepherd mix recently developed allergies. He was scratching non stop and he was miserable to the point that he was bleeding from open sores from scratching. His vet looked him over and ran some tests and determined that he had both a bacterial and a fungal infection. She prescribed him medication for both as well as allergy medication and on our next visit he had improved however was not 100%. The vet kept saying how concerned she was and I could tell that she took it personal that he was not 100% better. She spent a lot of time with me and my dog. She offered numerous suggestions to include seeing a specialist for his skin and allergies. Ultimately her decision was to continue him on the medication for two weeks since currently I could not afford a specialist and she discussed pricing and helped me to decide the best and most cost efficient solutions. Since our last visit Maximus has completely improved and is no longer itching. I can't wait to tell her that her diagnosis and treatment was on point. The care and compassion that the veterinarians and staff have shown my dog and myself through this stressful time will make me a lifelong patient at this facility. Appointments are easy to get and the staff is very caring and knowledgeable. I will never go anywhere else. read more

Don't be fooled by the fancy new building with the nice waiting room and flatscreen tv. My cat suffered a serious complication during a dental procedure (eventually diagnosed as a stroke, by ANOTHER VET) and the vet at Mt Pleasant missed it entirely. They sent my cat home to "recover" when she should have been treated immediately. We ended up having to take her back as soon as the anesthesia wore off (because it was obvious she couldn't walk!), and she spent four days hooked up to an IV (which we had to pay for, too). We got her home and she couldn't even see to eat or drink. I spent days spoon-feeding her and syringing water (with a syringe I already had- Mt Pleasant Vet didn't think about how my cat might need hydration once home). Ultimately we were charged hundreds of dollars for a procedure gone awry, with no follow-up phone calls to check on my cat's status and never even a simple apology. I've taken my cats to Mt Pleasant since they were kittens but no more...... Perhaps they're more concerned with paying for the new office building than caring for longtime customers. If we'd gotten a single phone call just to ask about her, I wouldn't have written this post. read more

My first experience with MPVC was due to my 1y/o cat Alfie, having a violent seizure. I have lived in Chesapeake my whole life and knew this clinic was near by and have been in buisness for a long time. I kicked the door open and screamed for help, immediately a woman (Gabby, an amazing vet tech!) took him from my arms and got to work. I then fell to pieces, thinking there was no way my baby could make it after the horrendous seizure i had wistnessed. Then the receptionist tried to comfort me and told me stories of her own Golden who had terrible seizures. She assured me that Alfie was in good hands and he would pull through. After a week long battle with these seizures, my boy finally got to come home. I know without a doubt that Alfie would not be here today with out the knowledge, instinct, and compassion of Dr Banta. I regret to say we had to come back to the vet today due to missed comunication in administering Aflie's anti seizure meds (mommys fault). This was his first seizure in 3 years. I was told that Dr banta would be a while until he was able to see Alfie and that he would have to wait in the cat room kennel (they have a separate quiet area for cats). Dr Banta then immediately came to see Alfie when he was told we were there! Dr Banta gently removed Alfie from his carrier, knowing he was a grumpy cat after all he had been through in the past 24hrs.. he quickly made Alfie so comfortable as he pet him and talked sweetly to him. As silly as it sounds i swear my cat knows this is the man that has saved his life countless times. They then did all of my cats blood work and had him out in 10 minutes bc he told me, he understands the nature of indoor cats and how traumatic it is to be in a clinic/hospital, even in a "quiet cat room" that they provide. MPVC just built a new office in the same location and it is beautiful, clean and comfy. I would follow this doctor anywhere.. he truly cares about our pets. I have tears in my eyes as i write this.. i feel i owe this doctor so much more than this silly review could ever give him. In conclusion, if you are wondering where to take your babies.. you will not find a better a better doctor. I guarantee it!!! read more

New to the area,and needed to get things in order for our dog. Nothing unnecessary was pushed on us, I think vets should be vets not sales people. Got new flea meds for our dog, and heart worm medication because we didn't need it where we lived before. Went home and gave the dog his new flea meds with food as directed, within 30 mins he got sick. Called the vet to let them know what was going on, and they called everyday to make sure he was ok, drinking water, what to look out for so I can take him in if needed and stopped calling once everything was back to normal. Very attentive and concerned. They refunded the money of the meds back before I even had a chance to think about money. I would highly recommend them. It's hard to find people who care about your animal as if they where their own. read more

BEWARE-- This practice does not have an on-site pharmacy and uses an online pharmacy service that charges gross fees for prescriptions. I brought my kitten there with an eye infections. Using the online pharmacy meant that I would not receive her medicine for 5-7 days due to shipping. the Pharmacy fee for a $29.95 medicine was $10.00 and for a $49.95 medicine it was $20.00. that's $30 (37.5%) in fees just for using the on-line service. I was outraged and took my kitten to Hickory Veterinarian Hospital where I walked away with the much needed prescription and a same day referral to an eye specialist. Thanks to the quick treatment and care our kitten's eye sight is now better than the specialist hoped for. This would not have happened if I paid the fees and waited to receive the medicine's prescribed through Mt. Pleasant Veterinary Clinic. read more
