Chef Raymond made me a delicious entree "cocktail" and a huge, nutritious and delicious main that made me feel like it was my birthday, not my mother's. The care and effort that went into my meal and catering has brought me to tears. The rest of my family licked clean their plates of traditional French Beef Bourguignon, dark cherry duck and pepper steak, too. I can't recommend this beautiful restaurant highly enough.

Which brought me here, waiting patiently at 655 for this joint to open. Well it was mostly that not much else was open, but also the $10 big breakfast sign that got me. By 7.03 I'd ordered the BB without tomato & sausage, by 7.10 it had arrived. SCORE! Anyway, besides how quick it was, was pretty tasty too! Next time work send me up to this slightly slow, but gorgeously warm place, I'll drop back in for a quick bite!

They looked great. Taste good too but not amazing. Good price and good taste. It is a table service. On the day we came it was a public holiday on weekday. The manager of the restaurant us that he didn't expect there would me many people come to dine here. But he underestimated the crowd. It was around 70% full and it was only him and kitchen guy. So the manager was the one greeting customers, getting them water, taking and serving orders and also behind cashier. He was pretty stress because of course the service was very slow. Poor him! We didn't complain about the slow service since my bf and I were not really in hurry, we were just enjoying the day in the coast. So far my experience in Bistro Black was good! We'll drop by again sometimes when we are in neighborhood.

I am happy to report that my first review will be Montrachet, a place my parents love to go to and brought my son and I when we last visited. When I was at university, Paddington was one of the hot spots where we'd go hang out at. Montrachet is located in Paddington. Like the other reviewer said their opening times are limited and you have to make reservations way in advance. During some times of the year they are closed for weeks on end so it makes it really inconvenient if you're wanting to go dine there. On the night of our visit we arrived to find the dining room bustling - which I was told is typical. Since there were four of us we ordered appetizers and entrees (in Australia, entrees are appetizers while entrees are referred to as 'mains'). We had Morton bay bugs and quail to start, both my mom's favorites. Then we moved onto duck and steak and my son had a lobster ravioli. I remember thinking everything was good but didn't blow me away. I had heard my folks rave on and on about this place so I guess my expectations were high. But then, both my parents mentioned that everything they tasted that evening wasn't up to par with their previous visits -- they visit at least once a month -- and my mom even apologized that it happened on the night I visited because it was such a rare opportunity that I was able to come. The chef/owner came out to say hello to my parents and my dad naturally mentioned that I was a blogger blah blah and since I was taking photos of the meal the chef asked me to please write about Montrachet. Unfortunately I didn't blog about it and am glad that finally I am able to. I didn't go home this summer. Maybe I will next summer. I know my girlfriend celebrated her birthday there a few months ago and had a fantastic time. I guess I need to go back again. 3.5 stars!
