The hotel itself is situated on a small street with lots of outdoor cafes and nightlife that I appreciated. The staff at Melia made the experience worthy of 5 stars. The doorman (immaculately dressed in an ascot and tophat) speaks English and definitely takes care of you. The restaurant staff catered to my specialized food-needs. The front desk staff took care of a problem with a credit card swiftly. And housekeeping kept my room very clean. The reason I only gave the hotel 4 rather than 5 stars is because it's not a 5-star hotel. It's an upper 3-star or lower 4-star class worthy in terms of the luxury of their standard rooms. However I was perfectly happy with the room itself. In fact, its an excellent alternative to the Hilton or Sheraton's of the world.

Rooms were the typical type with nice amenities and above average decent size. Had problems with Wi-Fi on my laptop on the first night and apparently the internet (dns) was unreachable on 09/12 night for 3-5 hrs and so missed all my required meetings - bummer. In order to fix the intermittent connectivity issues when the wi-fi was available, the staff helped to install a repeater in my room which then worked for the next 5 days during my staff without any further issue. Breakfast was ok and could probably benefit from slightly more options. The hallway on the 7th floor where I stayed had some strong odor - not sure if it was due to any smoking or otherwise. Regardless - nice convenience place to stay and recommend it.
