Avoid. Very dissapointing.
I purchased 3, 2 hour archery and air-rifle sessions, for my children. A big dissapointment! I would not go again!!! Even though we only paid 18 pounds instead of the listed 40 pounds, it was very poor value for money.
Organization terrible. They over booked the session, so there weren't enough spaces for everyone to use the equipment at the same time. People had to wait to take turns.
The instructor was knowledgable but I had to ask him twice to give my children some archery instruction, as they were struggling with the bows.
Equipment - big dissapointment!
Archery - the range was only about 10M long, with 3 old, ripped targets at the end. A lot of the arrows had torn or missing flights, which meant that every arrow flew differently. They only had 1 right hand, and 1 left hand children's bow, which meant that 2 of my children had to use heavier adult bows, which were hard for them to draw back.
Air-rifles. they only had 2 rifles (for a session with 6 people). As the rifle range was on the right hand side of the archery, they had to stop firing when the archers went to pick up their arrows. The air-rifles were the most popular, but having only 2, my children were frustrated that they didn't get to use them as much as they wanted.
Place:
There was a cover over the area where the archers fired from, but there was no cover over the picnic table which served as the spot the guns were shot from. If it had been raining, it would have been unusable.
Safety:
The air-rifle users were instructed to lay their rifles, open, on the tables whilst the archers were picking up arrows. Although this is OK, if you got an overeager child on the rifles, there was nothing to stop them picking up the guns and keeping on firing.
Similarly, one of the adult participants was standing up, behind the picnic bench shooting, while one of the children were sitting at the bench shooting. If the child had stood up at the wrong time, there was a chance they could get an air-rifle pellet in their head.
Note: While we were there we also saw a group go out for a Segway ride. The beauty of the Segway is that you glide along almost silently and can observe your surroundings in peace. However, for this poor group, the leader jumped on a 250cc quad bike, and so they had to follow this ear-splittingly loud quad bike all the way round. Before booking a Segway tour I would certainly advise checking if your leader will be on a Segway also, or whether they will be on a loud, motorized vehicle.
Overall - incredibly dissapointing. Poor value for money. Really badly organized. I will not visit this place again. read more
