When you walk around inside the terminal, more likely than not the sights and the feel of this place will start your mind wondering about what happened here when this place shut down... If you' not brave enough to exlporing inside, the lines and shape of the main building and the lovely clocks all around are reason enough by themselves to at least do a drive-by :-)

I recently represented Yelp here at a booth, and that was really cool, to hang out inside it for a whole day. They really, really need some better Air Conditioning though! Lol. I guess the 1920s was pre-global-warming or something. I've been here many times. I've taken a self-guided tour (which I wasn't supposed to), I've taken an actual tour (which was free, because I know someone who knows someone), and I've even done a photo shoot here (for my first CD). I used to live about 10 minutes walk from this place. It hasn't changed much in all the time since I first saw it. Very run down. And yet it's so haunting and perfect that I love it. This is one of the most instantly recognizable buildings in the beautiful and remarkable old skyline of Buffalo. It towers above the East Side with its broken windows, it's massive haunting dark open shaft (minds out of the gutter), and its glowing clock faces. There have been concerts here, as well as ghost tours, but it remains largely in disrepair. Everyone and their mother is hoping that it never gets demolished, and is eventually restored. The sad thing is that once upon a time it was a truly great place, bustling and full of passengers heading to the other Central Terminal... Grand Central in NYC. The pictures of this place full of well-to-do Upstate New Yorkers getting on and off trains is very depressing. America has changed so much and not always for the better. It's one of my favourite places in Buffalo, and was featured in the booklet of my first CD for good reason. Let's make sure it never gets knocked down. In other news, my cat Harley just pooped all over my carpet. Scuse me while I kiss this guy. I mean clean the poop. Same thing really.

The Prospect Point Observation Tower (also known as Niagara Falls Observation Tower) is a great…read moreway to admire the full grandeur of the falls from Niagara Falls, NY. Although it is set a short distance away from the edge of the falls, it is close enough to the falls to occasionally enjoy a refreshing spray. From here, you can get a clear view of all three falls, including American Falls, as well as the mesmerizing rapids. The boarding area for the Maid of the Mist tours is located at the base of the tower, accessed by a high-speed elevator from the observation deck. The base of the tower also provides access to the Crow's Nest, a smaller observation area located much closer to the falls. You do not need to go on a Maid of the Mist tour to go to the lower level, but there is a small fee for the deck and elevator.

Restored and Relocated 3x [Niagara Falls NY]…read more I know it isn't much when you look at it... an old brick chimney, but when I read the history behind it I found it interesting. At first we couldn't find the chimney. The directions from Yelp took us to a different place. We finally found it when hubby saw photos posted on Yelp and it had the lake in the background. There were two interpretive signs next to it... one of them explained why the chimney had been moved 3 times in the past! The sign said that the chimney was moved when it was "threatened by development." The Old Stone Chimney is a historical landmark. The effort to preserve it is more than 250 years old. There is a small parking area nearby and also benches by the chimney to relax. No picnic tables nearby but you can probably throw a blanket on the grassy area and have a picnic by the lake. I had a great time learning all about the architecture which is an Art Deco masterpiece. The docent was very knowledgeable. We saw the Common Council Chambers and ended on tho Observation Deck. It was truly a marvelous tour....and it was free!

Located on an island in the center of Queen Street (and near the courthouse), the Tower -- also known as the Cenotaph -- was erected in 1922. It's the only war memorial in Canada that can be found in the middle of a street. Built in the wake World War I and built for $8,000, it was designed by Charles Wilmott, a noted Toronto architect and Member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (MRAIC). The clock itself is well kept and has a classic look with Roman numeral numbering. I love the red brick that makes up a majority of the structure. There is also an understated plaque, and engravings dedicated to war veterans and names of those lost in the World Wars. And in front of it all, some beautiful flowers. It's a great clock tower ... and a must-see in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The recliners work quietly and smoothly, and I've never had a problem with the reserved seating. The staff at the snack counter are friendly and efficient. In general it's a bit older and some of the new theatre gloss has worth off, but I like this place a lot and I'll definitely be back. On a personal note, this is the last place I saw my sister-in-law before she died unexpectedly. We saw Wonder Woman together. Because of that I'll always think this place is just a bit special.

The newly installed seat and reserved seating system is a game changer. What was once a ratty old…read moretheatre has been refreshed, providing its audience with an excellent experience. It makes me wish more theatres would adopt this standard. The new seats are like business class airplane seats which an electric recline that triggers at the push of a button. I would give it five stars, except some of the actual film screens still have the marks and tears of yesteryear. Hopefully these will be replaced soon as well.

And, for an additional fee, you can go inside the lighthouse. Note, the first half of the climb is stairs and the second half is three ladders to get to the top. It was a really great way to spend part of our afternoon, and I'd love to go back again. Note: I recommend checking their fb page before you go because they posts their hours regularly.
