The house is beautiful, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the metro stop is just a short walk from the front door, and the owners, Marion and Frank are some of the sweetest people you'll ever meet...it was the perfect place to spend our 2 nights in Glasgow. There is so much to do within walking distance from Ashton, it is the perfect place for those looking to explore Glasgow. The breakfast offerings were coffee or tea, cereals and yogurt, freshly cut fruit, toast, and croissants...no eggs or other hot offerings but sometimes you just can't have everything! Our room was on the small side and Marion offered to let us switch rooms on the second night but for us it was just fine as we really weren't in it much anyways! We shared a bathroom with the room next door which can be a bit awkward at times but everyone staying was very polite and we made it work. Marion even let us park our rental car around back for our stay which we were very grateful for. One notable downside is that they don't offer wi-fi at all which, for us, was a bit of a bummer...but we made do on our phones. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Ashton Glasgow, the location and the hospitality would be very difficult to beat!

Once found , we were very pleased to see parking - rare in Edinburgh. The rooms were well appointed , a little small, and at first extremely noisy. We were on the first floor and could hear the clomping of guests on the exposed wood stairs. The breakfast room was also very near our door and I was thinking there was to be no sleeping - but I was wrong. Somehow , magically , the noise didn't wake us - I am a very light sleeper too. Whatever the sound dynamic was in the place - I slept very comfortably and quietly. If we were going to be spending time in our rooms , I would have found the space restrictive but for a good nights rest , it was great. The only other thing I felt was a head scratcher was the bathroom mirror. Very space age, 3-D type design that completely did not go with the decor. The breakfast room was lovely and the food was very good. The hosts are happy to accommodate your every need. They had umbrellas for the rain and a very nifty call button that summoned a cab in under 10 minutes ! It's location is walkable to some things but since you could have your car on property , it's easy to drive anywhere you want to go within a few minutes. Come and stay and enjoy this cozy gem in the midst of busting Edinburgh.

Breakfast is large gourmet and cooked to order including eggs poached, grilled, or scrambled, black pudding, haggis, sausage, potato scone, bacon, beans, ham and far more options. Specials are prepared on the weekends. This meal is so hardy you won't need lunch. Bedrooms are comfortable, clean, and beautifully appointed. The beds are as comfortable as any top tier hotel. The rooms can be blacked out for a very quiet deep long sleep. I slept better here then I have in months anywhere else. Good free high speed internet that is fast enough to stream video. Ross and Kathleen have created a charming experience that we will return to with every visit to Edinburgh.

We were here completely by accident, and I DO mean 'accident'. I broke my foot on holiday while hiking on the Isle of Mull, and had to be medivac'd by ambulance and ferry to Royal Alexandra Hospital. Hubby had to quickly find a place to stay close by while I was in hospital, and fortunately there was a ground floor room available. After my surgery, and before we met back up with our traveling companions, I also stayed here for several nights. Anne and George were so accomodating to our 'special needs'. I spent a lot of time on their sofa with my foot propped up, and Anne brought me tea and biscuits several times. George even gave hubby a ride to the laundromat because we were running out of clean clothes. The breakfasts here were truly wonderful: typically Scottish and very filling. The room was immaculate and very cozy, and conveniently on the ground floor. We are definitely planning a return trip to Scotland to see and do everything we missed during our detour to Paisely, but will also schedule a return stay at this charming B & B.

She has a parlor downstairs where you can go to read, watch a DVD, have a nightcap (she had a little wine, and cream liqueur similar to Bailey's (that's what we had). The only drawback is there is no elevator or lift. We carried our luggage up 4 flights of stairs. The host helped my husband with our bags. I would highly recommend this place and if I ever get to Glasgow again I will stay here again!

The location is a stone's throw away from the main attractions and has a nice choice of pubs and restaurants quite close (I personally recommend The Dogs, The Queens Arms and Eteaket). The bedroom was also lovely, the bed was comfortable and the boiler with tea and coffee to brew in the bedroom was a nice touch to warm our bones from the nice Edinburgh weather. There's a common living room with books and DVDs. You can take the DVDs to your room, where you have a DVD player. The breakfast was served at the next-door restaurant: Rick's, and while the food was good, the service on one of the days was a bit shabby. We had to wait a lot for our order and half of it was forgotten, the staff seemed like they were having a collective bad day. It's not the best choice if you want to grab something quickly and be on your way to explore the city. Anyway, I'd totally recommend this place and I'll definitely stay here again when going back to Edinburgh. It's very good value for money and a pleasant experience. Our room was a small double - but it had all the comforts we have come to expect with a typical en suite room in England & Scotland: extra blankets, electric kettle and assorted teas/instant coffee, large clean towels, tv, alarm clock and even an electric blow dryer! This little room was very tastefully decorated with an iron bedframe, black-on-white paisley decorator wallpaper, a pair of armchairs. There was even a small fridge, toaster and microwave in the little dry-bar area. There were fantastic skylights in the room - and Lesley showed me how to use a long pole to close the built in retracting shades to keep from frying like a vampire at dawn . Lesley asked me what we pair of vegans would like for breakfast - I provided a carton of tofu and in the morning - she personally made us the best tofu scramble my mom and I have ever had! Butternut squash, tomatoes, mushrooms and onions - perfectly seasoned. She also serves darned good OJ there and we had a really fantastic breakfast. Lesley also directed me to a nearby trail for my run in the morning and it was really lovely to run on dirt tracks and away from any traffic at all. I had the hills above Loch Lomond all to myself -- that was really a treat. Great B&B, warm and excellent service -- I highly recommend Sheildaig Farm B&B and would happily return.

We were in communication with Lesley and although she was out running errands when we arrived, she left the keys and instructions, so we had no problems getting into our accommodations, The Cameron Cottage. The drive up is a little narrow and scary. Once we drove it the first time, it wasn't a big deal later in the day. Definitely arrive during the daylight, so that you can see where you're driving and keep an eye out for signage, as it is a bit hard to see. I never felt like our car was going to get damaged, just that it was bumpy and narrow. The rooms are very cute and filled with basically ever amenity to make our stay comfortable- kettle, microwave, toaster, nice linens, great smelling soap and shampoo...there was even a stack of entertainment gossip magazines, which is a guilty pleasure of mine and I really enjoyed! We didn't meet Lesley until the morning. She had stopped by in the evening to say "Hi" but we mistook her knocking for a noise outside and didn't open the door until she had already left. I wish that we had met her the evening before, as she was super friendly and welcoming. The place has an overall nice vibe! Breakfast was wonderful. The Breakfast area feels more like a restaurant than a B&B. The tables were set up in a room with floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking their back garden. Very pretty! The food was delicious too. There was a cold bar with cereals, juice and yogurt. Lesley also did made-to-order breakfasts. The breaksfasts are delicious and very filling. We stayed in the double en suite room with views out over the garden. There was a television, small bathroom with shower and tea and coffee making facilities. Can't say we were hugely impressed with the UHT milk, but otherwise it was wonderful. It was a very peaceful place considering being in the centre of Stirling. The rates were very reasonable and we were made very welcome and very comfortable during our stay. The other guests were wonderful too. We will most likely go back there again too.
