I haven't ordered takeout from this place for about two years. They used to make really good Chinese cuisine. However, today was a major disappointment. The Ma-Po Tofu was not spicy and just salty with black sauce, and no ground pork of chilly pepper color at all. I know we're knee-deep in a pandemic and we're supposed to be spreading the love, but I am not loving this place. We've ordered from here three times and each time was worse than the last. The steamed pork dumplings always have hard, chewy bits inside. Tendons perhaps? Real classy when I have to try to spit them out without gagging. And the General Tso's Chicken is always leather belt tough. It makes me feel like I am chewing fried chicken flavored gum. This place reminds me why I don't like eating meat. Same rating, but an update on the food. VERY GOOD! I had my "go to" of shrimp and lobster sauce (over white rice) on this dreary rainy day. Very good taste (no nasty smell like at some places w/ this dish) and no peas - yay! A few nicely/thinly cut carrot slices and ZUCCHINI! WHAT?!!! I haven't seen that one before. I wasn't crazy about half the shrimp & tail being left on - looked nice but I need to inhale my food w/ my time constraint crapola 1/2 hour lunch. I got the dinner portion b/c I can "throw down." My co-workers got a bevy of dishes ranging from soups & spring / shrimp rolls, to Chow Mein and spicy (made to order) broccoli and rice ~ all (but one super picky young lady) enjoyed theirs a lot as well. We were able to use the online coupon for $4 off b/c we spent over $40 (there are smaller denomination coupons as well w/ less $ orders). So my coworkers and I just ordered from this place & we have a few complaints. -the wontons were very THICK & DOUGHY -the broccoli was over cooked -the egg fried rice had absolutely no flavor -the fried chicken couldnt have been chicken; it was very small & also very strange looking. -the lady on the phone was very rude; kept asking "anything else" and cutting me off before I could even get a word out. We ordered: Szechuan Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, Garlic Shrimp, and Singapore Mei Fun. All 3 proteins were in exactly the same (not good) sweet brown sauce with way too many vegetables per meat (zucchini, peppers, and baby corn). We thought they for sure made a mistake but they insisted that they didn't. It was just that all 3 dishes had the same sauce. I don't know how they think people don't know what Kung Pao and Szechuan are supposed to taste like since real Szechuan restaurants have opened up everywhere. The Singapore noodles were shockingly white, so no ginger, garlic, or curry powder were in it at all. The meat in all the dishes were just cooked or simmered in sauce and did not appear to be wok fried. Not a single Szechuan peppercorn or spice of any kind touched that food. Zha Jiang Mien. I always order two so I can have a bowl for breakfast the next day, but it rarely survives that brief, invariable 3 a.m. wake up, so I should probably order three. I get angry with myself when it isn't there for when I intended. Mulan has a fairly limited menu by most Chinese restaurant standards, but everything they offer is very well executed, from the basics to the chef's specials. Ordered take out from this restaurant. Have been ordering from Mulan for years. Our order was terrible. The edamame was sour and I could not eat it. I ordered steamed chicken and mixed vegetables. The chicken was small in portion, did not taste right. There were some rotten mushrooms in the container, and perhaps 2 brocolli stems. It was probably the end of the day what was left. I called the store, and they would not offer a credit or an apology. They requested that we save the food, and prove tomorrow it was bad by bringing it back for a replacement. Initially they requested we bring it back tonight? What? Its really late. What sheer torture! NO! It was 7:30 on a Friday night. This is our new favorite place. It's just too convenient to get here, the beef noodle soup is AUTHENTIC , but be warned it is light chicken soup base, not the usually soy sauce base. Though somewhat inconsistent, occasionally the meat is dry . I also order the beef chow fen, the beef is tenderized well and my son loves it. Mulan Chinese Restaurant is in a strip mall on the eastbound side of East Evesham Road. I remembered this strip mall only because of a frustrating geocache near the Wawa store at the east end of the building. I never thought to check the rest of the strip mall until this weekend and I'm glad I finally did. Mulan really is a treasure. I tried the General Tso's Chicken and it compares favorably to some of the best Chinese takeouts I've tried so far in South Jersey! In addition, the fried rice is also quite good. You won't find the horrible yellow fried rice that you might've seen at other Chinese places. Mulan only has 3 tables in their dining area but this may not be a problem because most of their customer base (that I observed) was only there for takeout. Service was overall very good and accommodating, with just a bit of a communication gap. They seem to keep the dining area and restroom rather clean as well. And oh, the Mulan art on the wall is pretty remarkable too. I've never seen anything like it at any other Chinese takeout. read more

Horrible is all I can say. So so bad. Was so so good last time. I gave one star because mini fried dumplings were good, not great. Hot and sour soup has so much corn starch it looks like wall paper paste. No flavor, nothing Asian about it. Which brings me to the tasteless shrimp moo shu. The commercial square pancakes looked like and tasted like wall paper. Not sure how moo shu can be tasteless. At least I had a $3 off coupon from an old and cheaper menu. So we're new to the area and this by default has become our go-to Chinese take-out restaurant.. maybe because it's the closest to our house or maybe because it gives the appearance that it's the cleanest one around! (is that an oxymoron? chinese take-out & clean?) Their lunch specials are pretty solid, you get entree (typical like General Tso's, Sesame Chicken, etc) with an eggroll and fried rice for something around $7-8. The dinners are a little larger portion being about $9-10. The food is fresh, pretty good (I think I'm a Chinese take out snob being from NYC and having had my fair share take outs from all over the city). My only gripe with them is that most of these places will substitute a soup for your typical beef/vegetable eggroll, but this place always charges me an extra $1-2 for this substitution. I wish there was a 4.5 rating Mulan has always been a family favorite. We live right in the neighborhood and it is always a top choice for take-out. The food is delicious and the pricing is great. Lunch specials Mon-Fri from 11a-3pm for only $5.50 including your main entree, with fried rice or white rice, plus an egg roll. My personal favorite is the Sesame Chicken with chicken fried rice combination order. The fried chicken wing appetizer is awesome too (Can you tell I like chicken?) There's a small seating area, maybe 3 tables? If it's just you and a friend two wanting to grab a quick bite. But we always do take-out. This place is kind of expensive for takeout Chinese food. Nearly $10 for a large shrimp fried rice. Fried chicken wings were $5.19. It has a very limited menu. I can see if this was like a fancy eat-in Chinese restaurant like Bamboo Fusion on College Drive. I think I will try some place different next time. We go to Mulan pretty often. Once every 2 months or so. My very picky kid has tried and enjoyed the food here as well. The prices are reasonable and everything is prepared pretty quickly. The combos are good and there is a decent amount of food in there. I've always ordered for pickup so I can't speak to delivery. Ordering is always without problem. I do know they sometimes have a lot of orders o holidays and can get severely backed up. I think at a certain point they have to say they're backed up on orders. It's better to say you can't accommodate more than to have people waiting 30 minutes past the hour wait. But that's a one time thing which occurred on a holiday. 2 stars due to recent changes. Staff is friendly, and I go here a lot due to convenience, but we often find hairs in our food. The other day I ordered cashew shrimp and there was not even one cashew in it. Also, they changed the fried rice included in lunch/dinner specials and it is disappointing to say the least. Ordered a large dinner fried rice and it was completely different. This place is going downhill which is sad because I do like the staff. My advice to staff- wear hairnets, check orders before bagging them (I also had an egg roll missing from my order recently,) and be consistent with your fried rice. Picked up carry out with my daughter while visiting on college trip. It's in a strip mall, but the girl at the counter was very welcoming and friendly. Got to the hotel and started eating. My daughter got veggie lo mein, I got veggie fried rice, and we both got veggie spring rolls. The conversation during dinner went like this: "Mmmm. This is SO GOOD. OMG this is SO GOOD!" This is our go-to place when we order out for Chinese food. Our food arrives within the time frame given, and the delivery people are courteous - as are the people taking the phone orders. My husband usually gets Shrimp Chow Fun. I usually get Ma Po Tofu but ordered Shrimp Pad Thai this time. We asked that both our dinners be made spicy, and they were. Although, I think they only sprinkled on some hot pepper flakes. Next time, we'll just use some siracha sauce that we already have in the house. Finally a Chinese place that can make the order I want! I'm a fan of crispy food so When general tso is my go-to order at most Chinese food restaurants I get picky with how they prepare it. You want it extra crispy, boom Mulan makes it that way. And that with their white rice, amazing. This is the only Chinese place I go to anymore. If only they did sushi :D read more
