I would like to share my ultimately disappointing experience with this firm, and criticize the case selection process that I unfortunately experienced. It is most unfortunate that, after having placed our trust and time in them, my family was abandoned in our most vulnerable time of need. I initially contacted them because my wife had suffered, as a result of medical negligence, cardiac arrest while having a c-section. I was advised by them to not discuss the matter with any other firms, to stay in touch to provide updates on the case, and that, once my wife's medical records were available, further legal action could commence. We decided to kept faith, believing that they had our best interest at heart, and thus we followed all their instructions, diligently provided all requested information. In a reversal to their purported hard-working and tireless advocacy mantra, however, the firm decided to drop us and not take our case. It became evident to us that, because our case would have not provided as much money as they had hoped for, they decided to drop us. I can understand that they reserve the right to take on cases that will provide them an internally predetermined margin--after all, they run a business, not a charity. My problem, however, is with their disingenuous tactic to emotionally string you along, selling themselves as your faithful and indefatigable advocates, just to buy enough time to see how your medical case pans out, all the while consuming YOUR valuable time and betraying your trust. I have been a client of Mulligan, Banham & Findley, and want to share my experience. I had been treating with a medical provider for 14 months when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 bladder cancer. All that time it was found that the cancer had been overlooked. I transferred straight away to another healthcare provider to get professional treatment. I researched multiple attorneys. The first four declined to pursue my case because of the California limit of $250,000. awards, but Jan Mulligan explained to me that she had handled many cases with this provider and how there are ways to increase the award amount for the best possible outcome. She took the time to listen, ask questions and did a deep dive into all aspects of my medical treatment and neglect. She worked tirelessly day, night, weekend - no matter, she had volumes of documents and successfully made the case. Jan, Elizabeth and their staff were always caring, warm, and considerate, taking into account the effect of my medical condition and stress coming from the past provider and their attorneys. It was taking a toll on my children, too. Jan mitigated that at every juncture. When the opposing attorneys took the low road, Jan was always on the high road. I appreciate the integrity demonstrated by her and the firm. The case resolved successfully, and she even linked me to a Special Needs Trust attorney to handle post-settlement issues. I gave all my personal information and poured my heart out to the guy who answered the phone, he assured me someone would reach out to me to discuss my options for dealing with the trauma I had endured. A week went by and I never heard a thing, called back and I was told, "we've decided not to take your case." Which would have been fine if someone had actually called me to speak with me. This bad review isn't based on the fact that they wouldn't take my case, it's based on the fact that I was really vulnerable with them and was treated with no respect. When I asked the man on the phone why no one had called me like he said they would, he said "that's not how they do business, and that they would have sent an email."..I never received an email. In my opinion this firm doesn't care about you as a person, if they can't make money off of you they won't give you the time of day regardless of what they say. read more

I contacted Jan Mulligan for a personal injury case in April, 2018. After speaking with Jan herself I felt very confident. She's very articulate and exudes competence. Elizabeth Banham also worked on my case briefly. She is stellar and a joy to speak with. I had 'some' communication issues with the attorney who did most of the work on my case. However, I didn't make an outstanding effort to follow my case closely. My mental health has been shaky since the accident so I really just followed along. So, most of the problems I had with my case could have been avoided if I made an effort to clarify with my attorney. Regardless, that attorney has moved firms and I walked away with almost 50K. After reaching out to this firm, however, I was called within 24 hours of emailing them, my files were looked over in detail, and I was told the pros and cons. Five stars (ten stars if they were available) to Jan Mulligan. We had a very bad experience dealing with a surgical mistake by Kaiser Permanente. We wasted a tremendous amout of energy and time trying to find a lawyer using Google searches. We were ultimately referred to Jan Mulligan by a family friend... That turned out to be the best thing that could have happened for us. Jan treated us with respect and friendship; she made us feel like family. She was foremost concerned about our health. All of her advice was dead-on. She gave her very professional rundown on our options (the KP corporate lawyers seem to hold all the cards... this firm did an amazing job representing me in an unfortunately overly-complicated malpractice case. i'm not sure if any other firm would have been able to win the case, let alone present my case as strongly as they did. they were an absolute pleasure to work with. everyone in their office was very friendly and supportive and made me feel like we were all one big team.
