Lazienki is one of my favorite places in Warsaw. Back when I used to live in Warsaw, I would find any reason to visit the park. It was so nice to visit again when I was back in town. I only had two days to experience Warsaw this last time, and Lazienki Krolewski was a must-visit for me. Do you want to stroll aimlessly contemplating the meaning of life? Lazienki. Do you feel the need to feed a semi-tamed squirrel? Wieworki abound. Lazienki. (Actually, you're not really supposed to feed the animals, but all the locals do it...) Do you need a nap under the shade of giant trees? Lazienki. In the mood for a summer, Sunday afternoon concert? Lazienk. Needing some contemplative reflection in the Japanese Garden? Lazienki. Ice cream? Lazienki. Boat ride across the pond with hundreds of onlookers? Lazkienki. It's a great place to propose. Peacocks can be found early in the morning. There's a nearly tamed deer that visits park-goers from time to time. Beautiful architecture. Festivals and exhibitions. Children's playground. Lazienki, Lazienki, Lazienki. Oh how I miss you.

I enjoyed walking around the pond with ducks and watching people feeding them. It has a children's playground on the territory. I bet it is beautiful during the summertime when the fountain is working.

For a park with such a grand title as the Saxon Garden, I admit I was hoping for a bit more. But…read moreunfortunately, this park and former palace grounds was almost completely destroyed during the war, so there's not much to see. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is here, along with a sundial, a fountain, a theater, and some nice statues. But it's not very engaging. Then again, I visited in the winter, when it was all dead and brown, so perhaps it's much more beautiful and lively in the spring/summer.
