I hate to say this about a barbershop but this may be the worst haircut I have ever received. I sat down with Gene and got nothing that I asked for. I am embarrassed by this haircut because there's no way to fix it and I would steer clear if you desire any haircut that isn't a buzz cut. read more

This is Mick C., Stephanie has been cutting my hair since she started working at Murdale Barber in Carbondale Il. She knows her stuff, my hair is not the easiest to clip and make it look right ( she does it with no problem). Always a welcoming smile and greeting when I arrive for my hair cut. I won't go any other place, Murdale Barber Shop is the best shop around. Thank you Stephanie for all you do. read more

I have been going to this shop for several years. I get a great haircut at a excellent price with friendly service. Before discovering the Murdale Barber Shop, I tried several other shops and was not satisfied with the quality of my haircut. I highly recommend this barber shop. read more

Just went here and I have to say by far one of the best haircuts I have ever got! Heath did a phenomenal job with delivering exactly what I wanted and could not be happier! If you are a student and don't know who to go to for a haircut, this place is definitely worth checking out! read more

Great little place. I'd given them a solid A. I do a mid fade but I keep the top long (I can't stand long hair on the sides). They did a great job on both parts, which is uncommon. Barber shops tend to do a bad job on the top and salons can never get a fade as short as I want it. I can't really write a long review. If you want a barber and don't want to go broke you're getting what you're looking for with Murdale Barber Shop. read more

As a Dramatic Diva, this caused me to take drastic measures and cut out my 21" SisterLocks™ myself. HUGE MISTAKE! Enter Ryan, my Super Hero Barber. I called Kampus Kuts after finding them on Yelp. Once he heard of my need, Ryan was willing to take me on short notice for an early morning appointment the next day. Y'all, let me tell you that this young man is more than a barber! He is exceptionally good at his job as a barber, as you will see from the pictures, but his personality and spirit is also exceptional. It was awesome learning about his family and education (he's working on his PhD), and how he is an integral part of his community. I enjoy finding businesses who are really integrated into their communities. Actually, as I sat in his chair, a young woman stopped by the barbershop to thank him for his support through a conversation they had the day before. In his capacity as a psychologist, Ryan often is in a position to help others right from the barbershop. Inside Kampus Kuts itself, you will find a unique and eclectic collection of vintage barber furniture, a pool table, and various seating arrangements. There are hand painted windows and murals inside and outside of the building. It is clean, accessible, and open to all. This small, minority-owned business is definitely a staple in the community, and I am so glad to have stumbled across it. I have been going to Murdale Barber shop for years now. Stephanie has been cutting my hair and I won't go anywhere else. The atmosphere is very friendly yet professional, all of the barbers are great and the location is excellent. The decor is old school barber shop. Im a student at SIU and i was looking for a good local barber shop to support, I did a walk-in and waited a little bit, there were a good amount of people in line. Best place around to get a haircut. Stephanie is awesome, she always does a great job. There are two other gentlemen who work there, both are kind and friendly but haven't tried them.
