That was 2 years ago and we've found a great CPA since. Last week we got a bill from Caryn for $450 for her "help" in handling our audits. When we called her for help during the first audit, she said "send everything to me" but then never called us back or called the IRS. She did absolutely nothing to help us!!!! We just paid the IRS and when the second audit happened, we just paid it. I can't even believe her nerve in billing us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two weeks after closing, I discovered that the property taxes had still not been paid. I was informed that payment of the taxes was the responsibility of the closing attorney and that Roy & Casper would contact the appropriate parties to address the issue. Despite this, more than six weeks after closing, the taxes still had not been paid. I repeatedly checked the Horry County Government website and ultimately discovered that a penalty of more than $900 had been assessed because the taxes had not been timely paid. When I contacted Roy & Casper for assistance, I was told there was nothing they could do to assist me. As a result, I was left to spend countless hours attempting to resolve the matter myself with the buyer's attorney. I had to repeatedly and vehemently challenge the handling of the funds in order to obtain reimbursement for the tax penalty, as well as the remaining balance of the money that had been held in escrow after the taxes were prorated at closing. What was particularly disappointing was that I retained Roy & Casper to represent my interests in the closing, yet when a significant problem arose directly related to the closing and the handling of the tax funds, I felt that I was essentially left to resolve the matter on my own. The amount of time, effort, and frustration required to obtain money that should have been properly accounted for and disbursed in the first place was unacceptable. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone using Roy & Casper for a real estate closing to carefully monitor the payment of taxes and the disbursement of all closing and escrow funds rather than assuming that these matters will be handled properly without follow-up.

Instead of taking time to explain or slow things down, I was encouraged to "just take" what was handed to me -- including a paper check when I had clearly requested a wire.
