She took it upon herself to give us a banking 101 course insinuating that since we were so incompetent that we could lose our home. The first time I sat down with Attorney Katharine Keaton at one of the closings I had with my buyers, I was absolutely impressed with how thorough she was, how she explained everything to my clients in easy to understand terms. She has a wealth of knowledge and she is generous with it. I also admire her dedication to animals; she often brings along a dog she is fostering. It is quite lovely! Katharine is a beautiful person inside and out. She is also a savvy attorney. Any time I have an issue to clarify, she is there with precious advice that really comes in handy for me and my clients. I have used this law firm for my last 3 closings. I had normal experiences with them, nothing really special and nothing really bad. I will never use them again after my experience today. I stopped in to get my signature notarized on a form. The receptionist was quite brusk and said she would ask "Brad" whether he would do it because it was a form I was sending to the Probate Court. Brad evidently refused because she gave it back to me without so much as an apology and told me to try a bank. I did try my bank and was successful. Why on earth would a notary refuse to notarize a document just because it was a form for Probate Court? A notarization is just a verification that the signature on the document belongs to the person presenting it. Is a lawyer not capable of understanding that? It would seem so since they refused, without a reasonable explanation, for a long time repeat client. Never again! read more

Avoid this practice! Murray law office business card days: "Dedicated to Smooth Closings". What a joke! Our closing was more turbulent than smooth. Had our house closing here and it was awful from the start. Katherine M. Keaton was rude and very stone face and very unfriendly. Never offered us any water or coffee to relax the situation. She hurried us along and we were not given time to ask questions. She spoke down to us like we were morons! I would never recommend this law firm. Katherine needs a class in how to speak to clients in a respectable way and nice tone of voice and to how to present herself as a professional and be more respectful of her clients. If you can, please avoid using this company for handeling the closing on your home. They doubled charged us 771.00 dollars for house insurance. They stated they would refund us the amount if we showed them our invoice receipt. We did as requested but they then added additional clising charges after we wired the money and signed all documents. Their excuse, because we closed virtually they could add additional money until they physically received the paperwork and filed it. Since, they refuse to refund our money we are out 771.00 dollars. They are in league with North Myrtle Beach realty so I would avoid them as well. They also deal with a lending company who may also be less than transparent. This is a mill. Service was terrible. Its going to take 10- 12 weeks to get deed?! Never, ever has that ever taken so long in the many real estate transactions. Why? " it typically takes 10-12 weeks before we have the original back from the Horry County courthouse and have completed an audit of your file. Once our internal audit is complete the original document will be mailed to you. " Why? Because of their time constraints?! They did not allow me to take 10-12 weeks to pay them. A Mill.
