I've bought two saxophones from this location in the last two years, and it's always a pleasure going to this store to purchase accessories. I have been a loyal customer of Music & Arts for years, and so have my friends and family, all of whom have had positive experiences--until now. I brought my flute in for maintenance and repair in March/April 2024. When I returned to pick it up, it was neither fixed nor cleaned. The store manager, Skip, assured me he would send it back for proper service. However, five months later, in September 2024, I still had not received any updates. When I contacted the store, I discovered they had lost my instrument. Despite having my complete contact information (albeit with some misspellings), I never received any communication about the loss, not a phone call, text, voicemail, piece of mail, etc. The situation has only worsened. The store is now trying to gaslight me into accepting a low-quality replacement, claiming that's what I originally brought in. This is unprofessional and unacceptable. They not only failed to perform the repair I paid for, but they also LOST MY INSTRUMENT, did not attempt to notify me, and are now misleading me about the situation. It's clear they are trying to take advantage of me. Steer clear. read more

I received great customer service from Niko. I was in a rush to purchase some mic cables for a show I had the next day. Not only did he assist me in finding the right cables for my equipment but also assisted me in the purchase of a new mixer and mic. He was knowledgeable and very helpful. Ken Stanton Music is the hometown brand. It is apparently one legitimate alternative to Guitar Center and Sam Ash. I stopped by the store recently and had a pleasant experience. From the exterior, you can tell that the store won't have a massive selection. It's a smaller store, but still worth checking out. You could always find a gem. I found a pretty reasonably priced Gibson ES-Les Paul that I'm strongly considering. I worked with Ben during my time in the store, and he was terrific. The store didn't carry a White Falcon or a Martin D35, but he found that other Ken Stanton locations carried them and offered to have them delivered to the Stone Mountain location. There's a lot to consider when investing in expensive instruments and gear. As it currently stands, I wouldn't mind buying from Ben at Ken Stanton. read more

Ken Stanton is my standby brick-and-mortar instrument shop, and not just because I work nearby. Their prices are the best I've seen in town, even beating out several discount Internet retailers. The staff has always been friendly and, for the most part, extraordinarily helpful. I had fried an amp a few days before a show and needed a new one on short notice. The specific model I had wanted was out of stock in the Stone Mountain store, but there was one left in Marietta. Instead of saying I'm out of luck like I've always been treated in Guitar Center or other stores, they noted that I'm a repeat customer and sent someone out to drive to Marietta and back to get the exact amp I needed. Once it arrived, the transaction went flawlessly and was still $200 cheaper than I could find at any store or Internet vendor. I've never seen another store actually acknowledge customer loyalty like Ken Stanton, and for that I have to give them credit. read more

I have had several brass musical instruments repaired and fixed up here and I have been very pleased with the quality of the repairs. I hate to see that Thom Jenkins has left Ken Stanton as he has been very helpful to me, however the employees of the Stone Mountain Ken Stanton store are great. This store caries a lot of new and used very good equipment/ gear/ musical instruments, home recording studio and live performance speakers, mixing boards, amps, etc. read more

I think this place should be illegal and shut down for fraud and money gouging. My daughter wanted to play clarinet and their reps c a me into russell middle school and charged me 36.00 a month for 10 months, and then when I asked for payoff for the clarinet, they said 660.00 which is a 40 % discount. I frequently have purchased things here in the past five years, but my recent experience was exceptional. I called and picked up a drum kit for my kids. Staff was super helpful and they were all wearing masks which was very important to me. It shows they respect their customers and their employees. read more

I've been a big supporter of shopping local. Particularly when it comes to music gear. Yes, Sweetwater and Musician's Friend have great deals, but there are times when a local store - where you can talk to people and put your hands on the gear - just can't be beat. And if those shops aren't supported, they'll cease to be. But... the service has to be there. After years as a loyal customer, buying electric and acoustic guitars, basses, keyboards, drums, reeds, mixers, mics, cables, stands, etc. (I run a studio), I'm done with Ken Stanton. A 7 day return policy. On a sealed Gibraltar cymbal extension. Really? Your policy will toss my business over a $25 refund? Or even a store credit. (I'd obviously spend it soon enough.) That's exactly the opposite of what I expect from a local experience. Amazon, Sweetwater, MF - those guys don't know me from Adam (other than a pretty decent CRM system). Ken Stanton - "my guys" - have a policy that values locking in the $25 sale over the multi-thousands of dollars of ongoing business I provide. Correction. Provided. It's been a great 'go to' store for years. I'm done with them now. Over a really poor interpretation of what 'customer service' means and its value to the consumer. People want to lament the fate of brick and mortar. Maybe. But pushing people away isn't helping the cause. read more

Scam alert! Do not try and rent an instrument they will be "out" of the "used" ones and try to scam u into a purchase or a contract purchase. Really shady. If a place asks you to check your credit to rent equipment do not buy it. Remember that the reputable dealer will just need a credit card and dl. The same as renting a car. read more

We rent an oboe from the Stone Mountain store and have always been pleased with their service and billing procedures. Yes, they run credit checks, but it takes good credit to rent expensive instruments. Our oboe is a beautiful model which is far superior to any other rental we have found. I visited Ken Stanton Music for the first time just recently. What a friendly, welcoming group of professionals. Solved a problem for me on the spot, chatted amiably, and made my visit entirely pleasant. They are a Gibson and Fender dealer, and had a very nice inventory of Yamahas, Breedloves, and other instruments I spent time playing. Excellent service, fair prices, convenient locations. read more

it's a music store with a 7 day return policy... Anyone who has ever bought an instrument in all the history of music, knows that 7 days is not enough to know for sure if your equipment is functional. I bought a bass from here (Ibanez 405), and after several studio sessions and church services, I came to the conclusion that the bass had a faulty or overactive pick up and would not work for my purposes... No sweat right? Wrong... It was 14 days after my purchase. I walk in the store with confidence knowing I was in the right, and that my situation would be rectified... Not only was I looked at like I'm goofy, because (we've always had a 7 day policy I thought for sure it was 30 my bad on that), but I was told that, it's just how that bass is made... No bass maker in the history of bass making is going to make a bass that buzzes in every amp... and in every setting... They test things to ensure that doesn't happen... regardless one guy was helpful. Tom the keyboard guy is the man (that's why they get a 2 and not a 1) and the rest of the crew is about as much help as a hot dog at a vegan convention... I wanted an alternative to GC or Sam Ash... I didn't find one here. They are still working with me through this process, but for the pure frustration of it all they get this review. Come on guys... It's 2017 at least up your return policy to... I don't know 21 days... You can still be odd... but at least it's functional... read more

Never going back to a Ken Stanton Music due to the Stone Mountain location. There's a couple helpful people working here but last month when I went here looking for a 14" resonant snare drum head, I grew incredibly impatient after the sales guy was trying to sell me a 16" Batter Floor Tom head. For any drummers out there, you know that these are two completely different products. All he had to do was say that he didn't know and I would of continued to look through the heads by myself. But he was, as a lot of salesmen are here, too pushy and persistent that it just ended up being annoying and unhelpful. The last straw was today when I went in to buy some earplugs, which the selection was horrible. They had 2 foam earplugs for $2.50 or descent looking ones for $12. So I decided on the $12 ones. Got them home and these things weren't just uncomfortable, they were painful to wear. So within the same day as the purchase I went up there to see if they would at least work with me. Now I am aware that they wouldn't be able to resell them but I was hoping that they would at least contact the manufacturer for a credit to the store and give me store credit or something. That was not the case, I pretty much got a "tough luck" response and for those two back to back experiences I will never step foot in a Ken Stanton Music again. NOT ONLY IS THEIR SELECTION HORRIBLE BUT SO IS THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE! read more

Our first experience with Ken Stanton was years ago at the Stone Mountain location. At that time, we were renting a violin for our daughter to play in orchestra at school. The customer service was horrible and we took our business elsewhere. Yesterday we decided to go to the Snellville location to look for a keyboard. When we walked in, there were three younger employees all standing around looking at a phone and laughing. Not one single employee even looked up at us much less asked us if they could help or even said hello. After walking around a bit, we did locate the keyboards. We actually considered purchasing one of them, but after almost 30 minutes of no acknowledgment from the staff (they were still only interested in whatever was on the phone), we agreed that we would rather spend our hard earned money at a business that appreciated customers and customer service. We have attempted to give Ken Stanton business twice and both times they disappointed. They lost a $150.00 sale and we will never go back there. For anything. read more
