I am new in the program, but I can honestly say that Must puts God first and foremost, I am 100 % disabled, and Must has started the procedure of getting me an apartment, without Must this would be impossible. I first went to MUST Ministries for help about 20 years ago, hoping to find support during a difficult time. Unfortunately, I was turned away and did not receive any assistance or resources. Now, in 2026, I found myself needing help again and returned, hoping things had changed. Sadly, my experience was almost exactly the same. Once again, I was turned away without receiving any meaningful help or resources. Over the years, I've been left feeling like I'm judged before anyone takes the time to understand my situation. I've even been told that I "look like I don't need help," that I "look like I have a man," and that I "look like I pay my bills." Those assumptions don't reflect the reality of what someone may be going through. Needing assistance isn't always visible. After two decades, I expected a more compassionate experience, but instead I left feeling discouraged and unheard. My hope is that MUST Ministries will treat every person who comes through its doors with dignity and take the time to listen instead of making assumptions based on appearance. read more

This Shelter is Not for the weak. you must be a strong minded individual and have a very good mindset to deal with ALL types of personalities of 20 people in a dorm it's like a psychopath ward. People will spaz out in any moment under any mental condition. It was my first time I wanted to leave with 3 days. It's only so much BS you can take from other people in one room that you don't personally know until you are drained . Grown adult women of all ages Yelling Screaming Fighting and name calling and very unclean. Bring items as if you don't want it stolen. They do steal and it's your responsibility. they do check lockers bring a lock. The food is not the best. can be horrible on some days. At time the staff has their days but not always pleasant I not trying negative . The truth shall set you free. everybody experience is different. If I got in here and said I love everything and it was a piece of cake . That would be a lie. They do try and help you with the resource they have availability and work with you to find a job and work but dont count on it a back up plan. If you like your freedom and don't take well to very strict 30 days rules this is not the place for you. I literally had to isolate myself and pray everyday to make it and I literally cried almost 2 weeks because At times it can be to much especially when you don't know what types of demons and spirits people off the streets are dealing with that you living in the same room with because every have a story behind them to tell. read more

Alot of The administration their treatment you like you kid's I understand rules but for them it's a dictatorship they Bark you heal almost as if you're not an adult person There more focused on being right than helping you threw the program the meetings they have are not based on helping you find housing unless you want a room Nothing about housing like renting a house or helping get a apartment They talk crazy to you and when you respond you get put out they listen at us like ur in grade school .it's true some of the people don't have a job and aren't looking for one that should be one of the stipulations of the program not thirty days and out .Alexis was a good counselor one of the ones that would help if she see you're trying to help yourself. She didn't talk down to you at all neither did the one man they had at the desk I Spent twenty nine days there until Stephanie went to far wit down talking and cursing at me When I responded I had to leave She had those women whom I didn't associate with to write statements as if you could believe anything they said alot of them go from shelter to Shelter until summer. In the world and in the way The same girls that she's probably into it with now that she doesn't need them anymore . Until her next victim Bottom line is alot of them are control freaks who have gotten big headed and their hearts are in the wrong place and the one that's supposed to be in charge of her staff is way out of touch and goes by he say they said . MUST Hope Home in Marietta is the worst homeless shelter in Atlanta, for many reasons. Not one single promise they ever made was true. My husband found 2 books right under a sign that read BOOK SALE Hardbacks 99c, soft covers 49c, fill a bag for $3.99. I took them to the checkout and the man whom was told was the manager, said $4.99 each. I told him the sign said 99c. He pointed to the stickers on the books and said $4.99. I paid for them only because my husband wanted them so badly. My son was in line behind me with well over $100.00 worth of items. As he placed them on the counter, this man (manager??) started pulling certains articles of clothing saying he can't sell them because they were from his own personal collection? My son said but they were on the rack to which the cashier said yeah I don't know why they do that. I am very disappointed to say the least. I have made and donated well over 1,000 hats, scarves, blankets and sweaters to MUST and am shocked to see this where I thought was to help the needy. MUST is putting expired food in their pantry boxes. My mom got a box recently and there were cans that expired in 2022. Disgusting.

My stay here was an experience I'll never forget. I fell on hard times and they really helped me get back on my feet. As volunteer experiences go, MUST is a winner. MUST is a Christian ministry that believes in putting "faith into action," and I can honestly say that I truly felt that while volunteering there for the day. I spent the day helping out at their donation center as part of the Great Day of Service for the 2011 Inaugural festivities. A group of about 30 of us were put in charge of sorting through a literal mountain of clothes and homegoods that they had received in the week after Christmas as people cleaned out for the new year. MUST was well organized and provided great instruction and support as well as all of the necessary supplies for the volunteers, and best of all seemed genuinely grateful for our help. MUST does much more than just provide clothing and food, they also have a homeless shelter, a free healthcare clinic, and a variety of other services in the Marietta, Smyrna, and Cherokee areas. If you're looking for a rewarding organization to give back to, I think you'll be pleased to give (time or money) to MUST ministries. read more

I do not recommend working for this organization. You are a job title, undervalued, and treatment depends on if the Shelter Director/Admin likes you. I know that the organization's HR and higher ups wouldn't like this to be known but I am here to inform others who don't deserve potentially poor treatment. I hope this helps.... read more

I volunteered at the Resource center for many years. I enjoyed the work and the people up until a few months ago. New supervision made it impossible to continue. I was treated badly on more than one occasion. Since I was volunteering, I thought it best to move on. I miss the clients and the other volunteers. While I was devoted to the job, I was not willing to be abused. read more

They not only address immediate needs with food, clothing and shelter but work diligently to help people move forward in the right direction through various programs such as the educational programs and job search training. Do not stay at this shelter if it is run my the same man that was there in 2011. I can not call him a minister or anything else that would suggest he is religious. It was a horrible experience. I would rather sleep outside that go into that place again. I have been blessed to now have my own home and health again. It was a difficult time for me and staying at that place contributed to my mental state of mind becoming worse. You don't know what goes on inside if you haven't lived there! I received the right kind of help and regained my life after I left there. The donation center and health center that is located at a different location are good places to get help. read more

It is not a place for you if you're homeless none of my problems or my life was ever address the place was very nasty food was given as if your nothing bathroom was tight to sit in as well as nasty they test people who may be drinking nightly out of the same equipment never clean when they need to do drugs testing they want clean or have the place clean for trash over floors mold bag lunch are days old if you see a counselor it's the week of the last 30 days you have so if you need resources you need to do the work they never supply it's a bed sometimes OK food that people walk in from their cars not hot meals for the most cold no funds provided to help a single woman or man maybe they help some with kids I went back to sleeping in my car but for those who are in the woods or outside where ever I will all ways Pray all ways.... read more

This group is run by bitter, angry, employees that would rather not be there and they do everything in their power to insult anyone who they come across. I donated my time there and was appalled by the way the employees treated the homeless and the volunteers. This organization does not deserve your donations, time, or money until they can find better employees to help run the organization. Never seen anything like this in my 50 years. read more

I had traveled over 25 miles with two buses in two and a half hours when I reached this ministry on a hill in Marietta. Must Ministries has always been synonymous with love, giving and Christianity for me throughout my life. They have a world of resources for people having hard times and offer a variety of services. But for some reason, as a childless adult I have never been able to fit into any of their programs yet I fit the criteria. Even though I did not think I would get help with housing, I was extremely hungry, not feeling well and very weak so I thought it may be a good place to get help. Due to the long commute, I arrived at just before closing but asked if it would be possible to get some food, toiletries or some emergency assistance with housing. I explained that I had invested almost all my bus passes getting there so it would be difficult for me to get back. I realized program services would not be available but thought it would be a simple thing to get some food. However, it turned out to be an exercise in futility. The first man explained that it was too late to get food and I could be given an "emergency package" for one day's worth of food. I explained that I would not be able to get back and asked if I could get enough food for two days and he flat out said no. I asked for the supervisor and was met with a woman who gave me the 'keystone cop' routine. She gave me a bag of food that needed condiments to prepare the food and I did not have any. She told me 'the doors are closing' and that is the best we can do. I can understand if they are closing and am a very understanding person. However, the abrasiveness and the combative behavior of this woman really upset me. Finally I asked to go to the bathroom and I was in there five minutes when she started banging on the door demanding that I leave. I told her I was on the toilet and would come out as soon as possible. When I came out I asked if I could get some food that was bland because I have had food poisoning and she told me that she did not want to "go through every piece of food in the place." I asked if I could have some of the bakery items that filled four shelves and the woman told me that I was allotted only "one item." If the tables were turned and I saw a lady who was starving, weak and sick with food poisoning that had traveled a long distance to get there, I would do everything in my power to make things better. If I had to stay two hours and look through every piece of food in the place I would find something she could tolerate. And I would be compassionate and caring so she would feel she had a friend. Thankfully a nice lady came out and really tried to help me. Her kind and sweet manner made things much better. She took the time to listen and had me ready to go in minutes feeling better. She explained to me how I could come back later to see if I could fit into any of the programs. After I spoke with her I began to feel there may be hope to find a solution. I still do not understand what I did to the first woman or why she was so abrasive but was thankful that I found the second lady. So my advice with dealing with any of these organizations is to realize someone could have had a bad day or they just do not like you. It does not mean the whole place is bad or uncaring. Be patient and look for a kind face. No one in my situation comes in without hardships and everyone deserves respect no matter how low their life has gone. Even if you are sick as a dog, go early. The early bird gets the worm. read more
