We met the owner's husband, who was very helpful and also shared with us the history of the store from its small beginnings to serving the laity in providing great Catholic literature. The store has many pre-Vatican II books and many items at a discount. We found a few treasures such as "What faith really means" by famous Bishop Henry Graham, "The Holy Mountain of La Salette" by Archbishop William Ullathorne and "Following of Christ" by Gerard Goote (founder of the Brethren and Sisters of the Common Life), a masterpiece akin to the "Imitation of Christ" by Thomas Kempis. While looking for Holy Oils in the store, we were pleasantly surprised to find a book on "The Cancer Saint" by Fr. Lovasik on St. Peregrine, the Patron Saint of those who suffer from Cancer. The bookstore is located opposite a Church and has ample parking outside the store. Checkout was simple and straightforward. + In JMJ +

If it is not, you would return said item in *original condition*, *unused*, within less than 24 hours. That is an extremely rigid policy when you're in the store at 3 pm wanting to purchase the item and if a return is needed you will return it as soon as the store opens the next day. Far less than 24 hours. No exceptions are made to their policy which they say they put in place because people wear things then return them. Understandable. I agree. But this was a communion veil on a Friday afternoon. No church is celebrating First Communions on a Friday night or first thing Saturday morning. Yet they were unwavering in their policy. Very disappointing.

The monastery is open to visitors daily, *but* visitors must first call in advance and receive a blessing. Other guidelines for conduct are listed on their website. The nuns recently undertook a major construction project for a new monastery, chapel, and iconography studio. Furthermore, a gift shop features a variety of products that are made by the nuns, including icons, ecclesiastical items, jewelry, baptismal clothes, wedding candles, purses, and aprons. I have been a customer of this monastery a couple of times. A few years ago, I purchased a cookie and a hand soap that cost a reasonable $4 each and were a high quality. Most recently, my husband and I bought one snowperson cookie and two baklava, which looked cute and tasted delicious. The nuns spoke with us very nicely.
