Was really excited and looking forward to taking my child to the Tuesday morning class last week. Only to show up and be told by the staff member that the regular scheduled classes that week were closed due to spring break and they were currently only doing a special spring break class at the moment. I took the day off that day JUST to take my child to said class. When I asked the staff member where that information that the regular classes were changed was posted because I had looked online before showing up that day she said online. As I walked away, I looked on the website and there was no information indicating such. Shady Cancellation Practices - Avoid This Gym! Think twice before signing up at MYGYM Encino. The classes might be fun for kids, but the management uses underhanded tactics to trap you in a membership. I provided a formal 30-day written cancellation notice by email, exactly as I was initially told. Despite this, they charged me for two extra months. When I confronted them for a refund, the excuses began. First, they claimed they needed proof of my email. Then, after I provided it, they changed the rules and said I had to cancel through their online portal--which, of course, was impossible because the portal itself said my account "was not eligible for online cancellation." This is a deliberate scheme to give families the runaround. They design a system where cancellation is a moving target, ensuring they can continue charging you. It's a dishonest way to treat customers. My daughter had a good time, but no amount of fun is worth dealing with such an unprofessional and shady business practice. Steer clear. read more

My 4-year-old son has been attending MyGym Encino weekly for a few months, and it's been such a positive experience. We initially tried the $29 unlimited week pass, and he loved it so much that I knew we had to keep coming back. He started with the age-appropriate gymnastics class and then tried the Ninja class--which he was so excited about just from the name alone! Both classes are an hour and are very similar in structure: warm-ups, stretching, obstacle courses, rule review, imagination play, free play, and multiple water/restroom breaks. The sessions are fun, structured, and well-supervised. If a child has trouble following directions, they may be given a short 2-minute break outside the play area--which I think is a fair and gentle approach. The staff is incredibly patient and encouraging. My son tends to get distracted or follow other kids off task, but with consistent attendance, he's already showing improvement. He's had a couple of timeouts, and they were handled calmly and constructively. Huge thanks to Sunshine, Destiny, and Ro for making each session engaging and fun--your kindness and energy make a difference! As far as facilities go, the gym does have a distinct scent--but IMO it's nothing unexpected for a space filled with mats and active kids. I can understand some parents being concerned by it, but I've personally seen staff wiping down equipment regularly, and I believe they do an appropriate job maintaining cleanliness. When we first started, pink socks were the only color available in my son's size, and we were later offered blue and green options once restocked. My son didn't care--he just wanted to wear the socks so he could jump in and play. I just want to add, if I ask him his favorite color, he often says "rainbow." I saw a review suggesting some kind of agenda, carrying assumptions or judgments that don't reflect my experience at all. It's not about being "progressive"--it's kids being kids and to me, that says more about childhood joy than anything else. If you're on the fence, I'd recommend starting with a free class (when available) or $29 trial week. Then you'll know if you like the teachers or maybe can't stand the "smell". The gym is located in the back of the plaza, with plenty of parking. My only real wish is that there were more class options around 5pm or later. Still, overall, I'm really happy with MyGym Encino and would definitely recommend it to any parent looking for a fun, structured, and positive space for their child to move, play, and grow. Very cute little gym in encino! Very cute little gay flag to welcome the kids as they enter in this safe place to play and learn! We were offered pink socks for my 3 year old son!! How progressive!! Also really cute smell! Almost like this really pungent smell of mold to choke on while your littles run around in this space to get all that pent up energy out! We love MyGym Encino! From the moment we walk in, my child is always welcomed and feels motivated to participate in the class by how the instructors engage with her. Our toddler has been attending My Gym Encino since last September. He attends the waddlers class throughout the week and I have to say, this has really spurred his development on. When he started, he was mostly crawling, but after attending My Gym and seeing the other kiddos his courage to walk grew tremendously. It didn't take long for him to start toddling like a pro. The best part of this location is the staff. I cannot praise them enough. They are very attentive, kind, and caring towards the kids. Every class we have attended, the staff give it 100%. There are so many different activities, and each class has a skill you can take away from the class. I am constantly blown away by how creative they are, as each week they rearrange the furniture to make it a new space. They also set up different skill stations through the space, and again I am always impressed at how creative they are with their equipment and accessories. Honestly, attending My Gym has been great for our little guy, and for me and his Dad too. We have made friends and set up play dates for our kiddo outside of the gym. read more

It seems like we have been coming to My Gym for years - because we have been watching Evan since he was 2 and now he is joined by his sister, Gabi. We have seen them go from beginning gymnastics (nothing like watching a scrum of 3 year olds run around in the same room!) and now Karate. Not a mom, but I frequently am tasked with bringing my nephew to My Gym. He is 3 years old and has been attending for the last few months. He absolutely loves it. The structure of the classes are nice and I hope it gives him some more structure before he starts pre-school. There have been a few days where it is him and maybe one or two other kids, so the instructors do more of a free play rather than class. His favorite activities include the trampoline, the slide and the monkey bars. The instructors are great, especially Daisy, Misty, Cesar, Kevin and Becky to name a few. There is a monthly fee (i think about $150/month) and he probably attends 2-3 times a week, so I definitely think it's worth it. read more

I do NOT recommend this place I did a try out class which I arranged with Misty (I believe that was her name, I'm guessing she is a studio manager but not sure). Anyway, I attended Tiny Tykes Friday 11:15am class with my 9 month old and I left feeling this is definitely not for us. I left feeling VERY uncomfortable. As soon as we sat down in the middle of play room waiting for teacher(s) to arrive it smelled like puke, and not puke that just happened, smelled like puke that's been marinating for a while into that floor rug. So that was literally my very first impression of My Gym in Encino. That was in the middle of play area so no way to avoid the smell. Class was taught by a guy and a girl, don't remember the names. There were nice people but just going through the motions as if this is just another job. Teachers, or others parents don't try to foster any interaction between kids at all. Also, throughout this class, I felt a snarky vibe between parents and that's definitely not an environment I want to bring my kid to. After class, I didn't get any calls that asked or showed interest in our feedback. I only got a call that I missed (so she left a voice mail) telling me there is still a discount going on for initiation fee, and that call came from the female teacher as opposed to studio manager (which was also strange). As someone else on Yelp said, I also felt this place is ALL about adding another membership. Which is almost a $100 a month plus initiation fee, but you are on THEIR terms when you can come in. That price will get you once a week visit, that "class" they teach. I asked if outside this class I can bring my baby just to play since it's a gym "membership". They answered they have a play time hour, but they said it was only for this age group and only one time a week etc., basically they made it clear you can't use the gym with your baby when you feel like it, or when you have time, your gym "membership" is completely on THEIR schedule. To sum it up: 1. You pay a monthly membership fee so you can come in on THEIR terms. 2. Classes do not foster any interactions 3. Place is NOT clean and that first impression puke is permanently etched in my memory. 4. Teachers are nice but act like it's just another job for them 5. Very snarky energy and vibe between parents. Such jerks! I can't believe they would do that. I came in from out of town for a visit a couple of weeks ago, with my 3 year old. It had been fairly warm and I was seeking out places to occupy my child for a while, yet cool off just a little. Parks were mostly out of the question since there wasn't anything going on indoors. A friend had mentioned this place to me and something about a day pass, so I stopped by and asked if they could accommodate us in any way. I explained that it didn't need to be for the whole day, or hours on end. They said no, they do not offer day passes and were adamant that I needed to sign up and pay for whatever it was I was interested in. So much for that. At the party, Ashleigh and Kevin were absolutely incredible and kept the energy high! They decorated superbly, made sure everything ran smoothly, welcomed kids into the play area, cut the perfect size pieces of cake, made our daughter feel special and their clean-up was a breeze. They worked tirelessly to ensure every aspect of the party was fun and effortless for us parents and made sure all the details were taken care of. Wow. Talk about a dream team staff. We've been taking our kids here for about one year. Staff are very welcoming and they appear to really love what they do and invest themselves in their work. Our kids are always happy to see them. Of course, the activities are also fun and engaging. We just held a birthday there. The staff was quick to keep things exciting and fresh by changing up the activities at just the right time. Guests were engaged. Unlike a traditional play place that has lots of angles, corners and hideouts, the play area here is one large room where the kids (and parents) can always have facetime with each other. It really bums me out to have to write this review but unfortunately, it's necessary because as a parent who is always looking for places to take my kids, I rely heavily on reviews from other parents and their experiences. We've been a part of My Gym since our daughter was 18 months old and originally started attending classes in Honolulu. Since we had to come to California temporarily, we were excited to rejoin My Gym since my daughter loved it so much when we were going in Hawaii. The classes are great for little crawlers and walkers but as the kids get older they begin to need more than just physical activities. Since my daughter enjoyed it so much and because we wanted to make sure she had a good amount social interaction with kids her age, we continued to take her until recently because she got enrolled into preschool. Here's where the two stars come in. During one of my daughter's last classes, she and another boy were fighting over a ball. As I watched from across the room, I could see the tug of war with the ball. No more than three seconds in does it escalate and the boy starts PUNCHING my 4-year old daughter on top of her head. Face red with full force. This was not a pushing match or a shove. The boy full on punched my daughter continuously on her head for several seconds. I watched in HORROR and yelled "HEY" at least 5 times before the teachers finally stepped in and grabbed my daughter. I yelled so loud that everyone in the room looked around to see what happened. As a parent, you never want any harm done to your kids but you know that the reality is at some point pushing and shoving will happen. I just never expected my daughter to be punched by some random kid over a ball. I expected more oversight from the teachers given that there were 2 of them and only 5 kids. Had I not yelled, I don't know how long it would have taken for them to notice and how long that boy would have continued to punch my daughter. Had I not been in utter shock with a cupful of fury, I would have jumped the fence and pulled that kid off the slide where they were and dealt with him myself. You just don't hit little girls....especially little 4 year olds. To add more insult to injury, the teachers seemed clueless on how to deal with the issue as well. They were in shock. Your business is dealing with kids day in and day out yet you don't know how to remedy a situation like this? There was a manager on site that day but despite the commotion, she never came out. The teachers reached out to offer assistance and support by telling me how sweet and nice this boy normally is. That he's never done anything like this and that he's still enrolled in the class. First off, when a boy pummels my kid continuously, I'm not interested in hearing how sweet he is. Listening to them to me that they're in shock and that "he's always been a sweet boy" is annoying. What I would have preferred to hear was that you are taking a firm stance on what happened. Bullying happens every day and when educators and parents sit back, the behavior only escalates. You had a chance to take a stance but rather you giggled it off and let it slide. Tell me you're going to train your staff better so they know how to deal with these situations. Tell me you're going to have the other kid take a break from class. As a result of this incident, my daughter has asked us everyday since that day why "her friend hit her on the head". It's been a week since this happened and she's talking about it. She gets easily anxious anytime another child touches her or accidentally runs into her which wasn't the case before this incident. We spoke to other parents and teachers at one of my daughter's other school and even they said, it could have been handled better. We took my daughter to go see her pediatrician to make sure she was ok and for peace of mind. When we described what happened to her doctor, she even said that it was abnormal behavior for that boy to react that way. I'm sure some parents may read this and tell me "buck up" - it happens but come talk to me again when your 4 year old daughter gets punched by a boy. Had this occurred when they were 15 years older then it would have been assault but because they're kids, I'm just told "it's ok, it happens". If you're in dire need of activities for your little one, I'm just going to say you do have other options. If you must go here, pay close attention to your kid because assuming they got it covered once your kid walks through that gate is a bad assumption. read more

I took each of my kids here to check it out. For my daughter, I loved it and was ready to sign her up. I was planning to try one more class with my son to be sure bc he didnt do so well in his trial class, maybe on account of there only being 1 other kid present. They were having a promotion with half off enrollment or 0 enrollment or something. I went home and tried to register online. There was some kind of issue and it said to try again later. (I'll try to add my screenshot of the registration page after I write this.) So I tried again a few more times which isnt easy when you have little ones clamoring at your legs. I kept getting the same message and this is after painstakingly entering in names, addresses, credit card information from my phone and typing with thumbs. So finally I call and leave a message asking if I can sign up over the phone or if I need to come in and do it in person. NO ONE ever returns the call so...I am trying gymboree and another dance studio where they will actually take my money and provide a service. The teachers were lovely and I really want to give this place 5 stars but I cant bc I cant enroll. read more

We've been coming to this MyGym since my son was probably 3 or 4 months old and have no plans of stopping any time soon. I've visited other MyGyms in the Valley, and the Encino location is the biggest, best equipped and has the greatest staff. We've moved in the last year and drive here for class even though the Northridge location is much closer. The activities they do each week are not only fun but also help the little ones with their gross motor skill development. There is no doubt in my mind that work we've done at MyGym on balance and strength have contributed to my son reaching milestones early. The most important thing, however, is that it is FUN! My Gym has quickly become the highlight of my little guy's week. We have been going since he was about 6 months old, and every teacher that we have ever encountered has been nothing but wonderful. After trying numerous classes with my daughter, I'm wondering what took us five months to decide to come to My Gym! I am super impressed with the class and activities - it was perfectly planned, the teachers were great, and the activities were apropos to the age. It was a large class, but I felt as if my daughter and I were treated as individuals. Loved the swing segment, as well as tummy time (Charlotte lasts half the time at home). I've been bringing my daughter here for almost 2 years and she is still so obsessed. We've taken classes from most of the coaches and with the exception of one, I think they are all great. Our favorites (and who we've consistently had for most of our classes) are Clarissa and Misty. They are always so energetic and great with the kids and never have an "off" day. Classes consist of free play, a song, dance, learning and practicing new skills, puppet shows, swings or rings, and sometimes a game. We had my daughter's 2nd birthday party here and she had the best time. It was so easy for me as they supplied everything except the food. The parties are also cheaper than other indoor play gyms. Over the past couple of years we've tried many different classes and My Gym has always been my daughter's favorite. Whenever I ask my daughter what she wants to do during the day, she says My Gym! We've been members at My Gym Encino for about a year. My daughter has been busy and physical since literally her birth and so we needed an outlet for her exuberance. My Gym has provided that and so much more. I had undiagnosed postpartum anxiety and looking forward to this as part of our schedule actually me get into a groove and get through it. My daughter absolutely comes alive when we get there. It's so warm and welcoming - it's truly a community. She and I have both met wonderful friends and I love the confidence it's given her. She was a little timid around strangers at first given that she's not in daycare at this point, but now she's so outgoing with kids and "helper" adults. The practice and play open gym is great and I'm thinking about signing her up for two classes a week since it's so perfect for our needs. This place deserves all the praise in the world. The staff and the owner are amazing. They are always so welcoming, professional and have your child's best interest at heart. My oldest son attended classes here from age 2 to 4 and now our second son who is 2 attends their Waddler class. They love this My Gym versus all the other My Gym's In the valley. This place is very clean, secured with baby gates, padded for safety and they have a security guard in the parking lot at all times.
