We just LOVE My Gym Layton! The owner and other coaches are so great with my little boy and he looks forward to it every time we go! They also do things like Parents Night Out & Lunch Bunch where you can drop your kids off for some kid free time, it's pretty awesome! Their holiday parties are awesome and I'm excited to try some winter and summer camps one day! We also had my sons 2nd birthday there! We had quite the range of kid ages (1yr- 10yrs) and EVERYONE had a blast! They do a great job having activities for all ages.

It is personalized and designed to get the best out of your athletes. Our daughter went from a Level 3 nine-year-old to a Level 7 beast at 11. Most importantly, when our daughter decided she wanted to try other sports and spend less time in the gym, Kim and Giorgio were incredibly supportive, allowing her to come work out at the gym with her friends even though not competing on team. This flexibility and individual care is missing at other large gym "machines." As a result, our girl has forever friends at the gym, is one of the strongest, fastest athletes her age, and has learned the importance of commitment, hard-work, and coaching. Whether she goes back to team gymnastics or simply continues working with the team, she will forever be part of the Inspire family, and will have gained immeasurable positives from Kim and Giorgio's program. I can't recommend this place enough.

I'm leaving this review because I believe parents considering the competitive team program at North…read moreDavis Gymnastics should be extremely careful about understanding the financial commitment and billing process before enrolling. My daughter was enrolled in the Xcel Silver team. From the beginning, I was open with the gym about the fact that I am paid monthly. When a $325 payment declined in July, I specifically asked the office to charge me on the 1st of the month. They agreed to manually do that. On August 4, I again put my financial situation in writing and told the gym: "I will need to stagger the payments monthly until it's paid. I can only do one payment each month for the team." Two days later, on August 6, the TEAM billing system attempted four separate charges against my account: $1,189 $585 $310 $914 That is $2,998 in attempted charges in a single day. Regardless of what the total season expenses may have ultimately been, I never understood that nearly $3,000 would be attempted against my payment method at once--especially after I had just stated in writing that I could make one team payment per month. My daughter ultimately withdrew from the program. To North Davis Gymnastics' credit, much of the money I had already paid was refunded. However, $275 remained disputed. I was later told that this money was a Team Fee used in part for summer camp and that the fee was non-refundable. The gym has since pointed out that I initialed documents concerning non-refundable fees, and I acknowledge that. My problem is the communication surrounding those fees. My daughter attended only one day of the summer team camp, and I did not understand at the time that the $275 Team Fee was being applied toward camp costs or that withdrawing would mean forfeiting that entire amount. That explanation came later during the refund dispute. This experience isn't why I'm telling people never to enroll their children here. I'm telling parents to protect themselves by asking very specific questions before joining the competitive team. Get the entire season cost in writing. Ask exactly which fees are refundable and non-refundable. Ask what each "Team Fee" actually pays for. Ask when every charge will be processed--not merely when it appears on your account. And if you establish a payment arrangement, get that arrangement clearly documented. There is a major difference between understanding that competitive gymnastics is expensive and expecting nearly $3,000 in attempted charges in one day after telling the business in writing that you can make one payment per month. The gymnastics itself wasn't what ultimately left the worst impression on me. The billing and communication did.

My initial impression of the gym was that the space seemed small compared to the amount of equipment in it. There also appeared to be many kids and few adults. 10 minutes into class, I took my 3 year old to the bathroom. I came back to find my 5 year old bleeding from a head wound with the teachers holding tissues to her head. She was struck in the forehead with a trapeze bar and needed stitches. I was completely dumbfounded as to how this could have happened with two adults supposedly teaching the class. Clearly, if there was ANY danger of someone getting hit by a swinging bar, there should have been an adult present to ensure the kids waiting their turn were a safe distance away. Obviously, at the time, I was focused on getting my daughter out the door and to a doctor, but I was never offered any type of bandage, ice, gauze, or medical assistance. My husband went to Flippers the next day to express his concern about the situation. He asked where the first aid kit was and was never shown it. He also spoke with the owner on the phone, asking what type of changes might be implemented to prevent this type of thing from happening again. The owner apologized for what happened and offered additional free classes but was wishy washy on what, if any change, would be made. At one point, she chalked it up to a "freak accident" and essentially blamed my daughter because "she wasn't used to the routine."

For me personally it is very comforting to know that a company is "tech saavy." They make it very easy to manage payments electronically and to research class options and connect with the staff. They respond to emails very quickly and professionally. I am very pleased with the instructors. I'll just say it - my three year old child is on the terrible side. I love her but even compared to other kids her age she has a hard time paying attention and waiting turns, etc. We actually put her in gymnastics to give her some structure and self discipline and to give her an outlet for her massive amounts of energy. The instructors are loving and supportive but also very "no nonsense." They set good boundaries and expect good behavior which is very good for my child. I feel that my children are learning the fundamentals of gymnastics but still having fun. They use the rings, the balance beam, do floor exercises, etc. but they balance that with more free activities like jumping on the trampoline. The teachers are really cute when the kids are stretching and they keep the energy up so that the young children stay focused. They also teach in pairs and break the class up to give each child very individual attention. I have to say that I have no criticism of Elite at this point. They seem to keep their classes very full but I think that shows that people want to send their children there due to their excellence.

The only thing I didn't love is I showed up and didn't know where the room was and there was no one at the desk to assist me/answer any of my Qs and I didn't want to waste time, as I only get 15 mins to set up prior. There is plenty of parking in the back which is THE BEST. I also loved that we didn't have to pay anything the same day. We could just head straight home and they email me for payment arrangements the following day. I suggest you keep a list of the kids that come and play on the mat, sometimes it gets confusing for the instructor to know which kids are under 2yrs old (free) vs the rest of the kids and they charge you for it, but they are easy to work with when you go over any hiccups! I think this is the best place to have a party for the kids! Especially if you want to sit and relax for a moment while they play.
