I sincerely hope that Mt Albert's new My Little Bakery will succeed where its predecessors who have occupied the space have failed. There is a glimmer of hope as My Little Bakery has a following nurtured at their previous Ponsonby Rd location and have a respectable range of sweet and savoury delights on offer daily in tandem with special cake orders. Originally I was just going in to buy a sweet treat as a thank you to a co-worker who put in extra hours. I wanted something a bit more decadent that what is on offer at the other very delicious but very traditional bakery up the road. I went in and unfortunately to the detriment of my waistline, I couldn't walk past the pie warmer without a pit stop. I went for the classic mince and cheese and was so impressed by the delicate and flaky pastry. Once I finally made it to the counter, I found a raspberry and lemon curd brioche sending salutations. All in all the brioche was a hit with my co-worker and had the pleasure of indulging in a tasty pie. I didn't get coffee but can imagine that if they put that much love and care into the food, it would follow through to the coffee as well. I have high hopes that this place will help facilitate a sorely needed makeover for the Mt Albert Shops. read more
