I took advantage of their Groupon - for $49 I got an exam and over $200 toward a new pair of eyeglasses. The staff was friendly and the eye doctor was very good. When they told me that charge for the pair of glasses was over $800 my blood ran cold. My last pair elsewhere, without a coupon, and for a comparable pair was less than $300. I got the cheapest thing I could stomach and now they are telling me that it may take over two weeks to get the glasses. Sorry MyEyeDr. I deserve better, for less. I have gone a couple of times to the Sterling location for my own needs and/ or with my husband and my daughter. I have always been greeted pleasantly and the wait time seemed very reasonable. Last time I visited My Eye Dr., I was helped by Melissa. She was very thorough in serving me. She took the time and helped me pick the right frames. They have a nice selection of frames for every budget. There were many customers waiting, but I did not feel rushed at all. At some point a manager came over and I asked how everything was going. The actual eye exam went very well. Again, the staff assisting the doctor and the doctor himself were very professional. The doctor went out of his way to explain many eye disorders I had questions about and showed me actual photos of retinas in comparison to my photos. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is that they will not show you your invoice as they are talking to you. They will tell you a total and I ask for your credit card. You should ask to see the itemized bill because they will try to sneak a warranty on your glasses which you may not want. I asked them to take it off. Overall, I would recommend the place. read more

Used My EyeDr. Sterling location to get new glasses for our foster children. First I will say that one big shock of being foster parents is the difficulty we have in finding healthcare providers that will see the foster children due to their Medicaid status. So, finding that My Eye Dr. takes their insurance was a huge relief. Kyle and Jessica were courteous, friendly and efficient. My experience with My Eye Dr was overall really good. The eye exam was quick and easy, and they had plenty of frames available. That being said, most of them were pretty expensive, but my insurance covered a lot of the cost. I agonized over selecting frames (after all, when you wear them every day for two years, you want them to be fabulous!) and Sam helped me for an hour try on frames and narrow down the options. She was great. The only thing I would say is that they're really bad about calling you when your glasses are ready (they say they'll call, but they don't)...I told them about this problem because my husband had a similar issue when he ordered contacts. They said it was something they were working on, and they appreciated the feedback. All in all, a good experience. I would go back. read more

I switched to this office from Reston, The staff, especially Preet was very knowledgeable. I had some issues with a previous pair of progressive bifocal lenses. Preet did a measurement on my new lenses and did an offset to allow me to be more comfortable with the lenses. When the new lenses arrived, they were perfect. This was my first experience with MyEyeDr and I was very pleased. Making the appointment was quick and easy. They suggested I complete the personal survey online to save time. It was simple and was a big time saver. When I got to the office, I was greeted by several of the staff and felt very welcomed. I felt that they appreciated my business. During the exam each test was explained. I got a good sense that the tech was knowledgeable in what she was doing, which gave me a good feeling of security. I don't like things messing with my eyes. I met with the optometrist and, once again, felt very secure. She did a great job of explaining my current condition and provides suggestions on how to make it better. One of the best feelings I had was that I never felt that anyone, at anytime, was trying to up-sell me on anything. That gave me a real sense that they cared more about me than selling me something. Got a reminder email in December to get my annual exam and had a $25 off coupon attached. I was able to make an appointment and get my exam and pick out glasses within an hour maybe less. I ended up w a Michael Kors pair of glasses and even after insurance coverage they let me use the $25 off, so my glasses were about $100 out the door and that included some extras! Excellent experience here all around. Waited less than 5 min (filling out paperwork while waiting) to start the exam. The exam was quick but the doctor didn't make me feel rushed. Picked out some frames and ordered contacts and was out within an hour. They were friendly throughout the whole process and I never had any problems getting ahold of them afterward. I also managed to lose my receipt which I needed to submit for reimbursement from my company and when I called two months later it took them less than five minutes to send me a copy. read more

I visited several weeks ago for a yearly check up. Updated broken glasses after my check up and also asked for a copy of my prescription to keep in our records. The person at the front desk printed up a copy of my prescription and I was on my way. My wife visited recently and ordered a pair of glasses, they arrived scratched and had to be sent back. While there she asked for a copy of her prescription so that we could add to our records, and was told that it had to be printed by the Doctor. Further the doctor was in an appointment and it would be a 15-20 minute wait for a print out of the prescription. Withholding a prescription copy from my wife, that was easily printed for me, is a super sketchy business practice. It did not require the doctor to print it when I requested (two weeks earlier). This is unfortunate as the Dr here is awesome. Beware and be sure to request a copy of your prescription every check up - you and/or your insurance is paying for that. read more

The Sterling location barely deserves 1 star. This was my first time buying prescription glasses and the last time with this company. The staff does not understand the definition of customer support nor are they knowledgeable on the subject of glasses. I called the representative asking if my order was processed and her response was "I think..." Also, I bought a pair of sunglasses and was never informed the prescription would cause the frame to morph causing the glasses to need adjustment. When I tried discussing an exchange option the male representative continued to force the purchase instead of trying to assist me. When I finally returned the glasses for another pair, they were shipped to the wrong location. The novice staff at the Sterling location produces a bad reputation and proves My Eye Dr. Corporation is a chain due to their lack of structure and any positive support. I would never recommend this company to any of my friends or co-workers. If you are willing to spend money on decent glasses I suggest shopping at a different company and please do not waste your time. read more

I went to this specific My Eye Dr. to get my vision checked as I was having trouble seeing at night. I was greeted by a young lady at the front desk named Jessica who already had my file and paperwork ready to go with a smile and a good sense of humor. By the way, if you are a first time customer I recommend filling out your paperwork online before you go in for your exam as it will save you 10-15 minutes of the normal medical paperwork for any first time Dr's visit. I then went through the prelim tests and then saw Dr. Bleakly. He was very professional and helped me through the eye exams. When I finished with him I was taken on the floor with another young woman to try on glasses. From the other reviews I read on YELP, I should mention I found out that this branch is under new management so a lot of the complaints from the other reviewers didn't occur while I was there. I met the new general manager, Steve B., who personally thanked me for my business. After my interaction with Steve, I finished picking out my glasses. I got two pair and I am extremely satisfied with the service and my selection of the glasses. I will be back in the spring to pick out a pair of sunglasses for golfing. I started out at the Reston location but they were so bad I decided to go to Sterling. The Reston location had poor customer service, and pushed the high end stuff. OK, saw that the Sterling location had better reviews on average, thought T give it a try. Well it was actually the same if not worse in some ways, but I just wanted to get me prescription filled and be done. Like others before me, I was treated like a derelict just because I didn't want to pay through the nose for a pair of glasses. The sales person assured me that no matter what I pick the glasses will cost me hundreds of dollars, which they didn't. He was rather dismissive, and proud of the fact that he has no idea about Vision Care in general. When I insisted on my low end price pick, he got rather rude and wanted to get rid of me as fast as possible. This location has ZERO star customer service, and poor selection. I am never going back to My Eye Dr. again. I rather pay more, or travel further to another provider, then to put up with such distasteful attitude from a bunch of spoiled, untrained employees with a chip on their shoulder. read more

It's been a while since I have had an eye exam and I figured I better schedule an appointment and do an exam because hey I am getting old. I arrived at the office 15 minutes before my appointment time and I was greeted by the front desk. This office is smaller then other locations. My husband goes to the Reston town center location and their office is larger. After greeting me, they checked me in and handed me my forms to fill out before my exam. Once my forms were done I had about 5 more minutes before I was called back. My daughter was with me and the first examiner allowed her to come in the back with me and have a seat. We conducted two eye exams(both done with machines) and then she informed me of a third test that could be done but that it would be an additional fee. I opted to do the test but I wish I was told about the additional fee for the other test before I arrived--- just to get my mine right for the fee. Since my family has a history of eye problems, I decided that I should pay for it and have it done. It's my health so hey. After we completed the three eye machine test, I was escorted out the room and into a small hallway(that had seats) until the doctor was ready for me. I only waited about two minutes and the doctor called me into another exam room. She ran some additional eye chart tests and then gave me my results. She also asked did I have any additional questions or concerns. Although glasses were not mandatory for me she said they could help with my night vision, she also informed me that my insurance covered a good amount of my glasses once of year, so I should take advantage of it. Which I did! Once we were done with my exam, she escorted me out of the room and back to the front to one of the sales people;to assist me with my eye glass selection. Overall all, the doctor and the staff were very friendly here and I had a good experiance. read more

It was very bad stressful experience for me during my last visit there. The doctor was nice. But the sale lady was a pain. She pushed me to buy contact lense through them beyond the insurance amount. I have always buy extra lenses from Costco. She had a very bad attitude when I asked her to explain my vision benefits to me why I still need to pay over $60 with insurance. Then 5 month later, I still have not got the lense which is covered by insurance. I called twice. No call back. Finally someone checked the computer and said there was no order for me. read more
