I normally don't write reviews for doctors, but her exceptional experience and me seeing it for myself really showed how much effort and time Dr. Glassman and his staff puts towards his patients. My cousin found out about Dr. Glassman from a referral through a friend who was also treated by him. Scheduling an appointment was very easy. When we got there, the front staff was very courteous and didn't wait long at all; probably about 5-10 minutes from front door to seeing the medical staff. Dr. Glassman then talked to my cousin about her pain issues and how the previous doctor at a Miami hospital totally mismanaged her pain after her surgery and got her dependent on pain meds. Luckily, Dr. Glassman corrected all of that, and he spent a lot of time talking to her, evaluating her previous medical records, and did what was probably the most thorough physical exam my cousin and I have ever seen. Prior to coming in, my cousin and I came up with a list of questions to ask, and we discussed it with Dr. Glassman and his medical staff. He made sure to answer every one of our questions to our satisfaction. He took the time to fully address all of our concerns. There is a system and it flows to a T. The door to the facility promptly open at 6am. I filled out my paperwork, paid the co-pay and was told to wait for a nurse to get me. Bring a small blanket because it is very cold. First round I wore my shoes and second round I went in my stocking feet. Reason for not wearing shoes was because when they lay you back, it felt uncomfortable with my shoes. Others said it feels like an assembly line. For me it felt like a car wash. Everyone was wonderful. Even though I had a blanket, they put a warm blanket on top of me. Both times there were 2 other patients waiting to go next. I was given multiple eye drops. The first time it felt like I was being water boarded and the second time the nurse slowly counted each drop. I had a terrific anesthesiologist who made darn sure that he supplied me with a great cocktail and nausea medication. When the procedure was over, I skipped the drinks and snacks and couldn't wait to get home to check out my new eyesight. Hope I can put anyone to rest if they are apprehensive about the surgery. The only agony is waiting for the other people to get done. Once those doors open, you are wheeled into the operating room and things move fast. This is when you should take some time to watch the show. To be able to see different unexplainable images without any pain was remarkable. Hearing the doctor say, "Perfect!" I developed a UTI and called the office and requested an appt or medication to be sent to my pharmacy. UTI's are not something to slack around with. The longer you go, the more painful it gets. When i spoke to a staff member, i was told that i could come in the following day after 3pm. Now, i had a choice. Go to the ER and get medication or ask the staff member to reconsider this as an emergency because i needed medication.... She said, 'Tomorrow afternoon is the best we can do." That was it. When you treat patients like this, it's time to fire the doctor and find another one. Believe me, I emailed the doc and told him exactly what transpired.. All the staff had to do was call in my medication to my pharmacy and i would have been out of pain, by evening. But the staff member didn't take the doctor into consideration and the possibility of the doctor being fired. Dr. McKenzie needs to have his staff retrained, or replaced. It's bad for his business.
