They make their own syrups and the drink menu is quite unique. Nordstrom level service with a smile. Intensity for the work is very clear. You are in great hands with these folks. My sister wanted to check out Terrasse Nacarat for some cocktails and views. It's located on the third floor (take the elevator) of the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth hotel. Make sure not to confuse this with Nacarat Bar (located in the lobby). We came on a Sunday evening (with 7:00pm reservations). The terrasse is spacious with a mix of sofa cushion seating and high chair tables. Service was okay but be prepared to flag down your waiter if you want more drinks. - Madame violette ($18.00) - Pink sangria ($18.00) - Hemingway special ($18.00) - basically a margarita on the rocks. - Fairmont old fashioned ($18.00) - Spicy tuna tartare ($38.00) - have to mention there was 6 tortilla chips to go with the tartare. Taste was standard fare. Probably the priciest tartare I've ever had and the portion was meagre. Complete rip off. - Mozzarella di bufala ($28.00) - a grand total of four tiny mozzarella balls. Again, expensive. - Grilled octopus ($36.00) - octopus had a slightly charred note. Roughly 6 small pieces. - Marinated grilled shrimp ($26.00) - decent flavour but you only get 7 pieces. - Chips ($7.00) - a bowl of Miss Vickies salt & vinegar chips. Came for a rooftop vibe and al thought it wasn't as a rooftop than I am used to (this was on the 5th ish floor), the vibes were still giving. My friends and I got drinks and it's a cocktail bar, so if something isn't on the menu they said they would make it for us. Our server explained the menu and gave us recommendations, and even made my friend a passion fruit mojito even tho it wasn't on the menu. This focaccia bread though omg, the bread was phenomenal. I personally didn't enjoy the hummus, but my friend really did. I'm not a big feta person but the bread alone was already amazing and rich. On a recent visit to Montreal, my husband and I stayed at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel. The Nacarat Bar is on the ground floor of the hotel. On a Thursday night, the place was crowded. It could be that many of the business people who were attending seminars at the hotel had come to unwind. Considering that the bar served up drinks and charcuterie-- but no hot food--I found the turnout impressive. I wanted a hot meal. We would wind up grabbing a late dinner at the hotel restaurant next door, but not before I tried one of the bar's heavily promoted Barbie cocktails. I picked Pink Dreams, a delicious martini concoction consisting of vodka, raspberry syrup, coconut and egg white. What perfected the drink was the fact that "Barbie" was cleverly stenciled onto the drink. The hotel likes to promote the talents of its bartenders/ mixologists with in-house videos, which is why I actually recognized some of them. They did a great job. "Barbie" is no longer playing in theaters and can now be streamed at home so I'm not sure if the martini is still available, but I'm sure the mixologists at Nacarat can whip up plenty of other delicious cocktails. read more

I met a business colleague at this bar in the basement of the beautiful St. Elizabeth Fairmount hotel. I ordered à dry gin martini. It was delivered in a wine glass and it was watered down no olives. The bar tendered had no clue how to make a dry Martini, it probably was shaken in ice that was partly melted. On top of that they charged $15.00 plus $7.50 for fry for a total of $22.50 for a martini. Was not happy. read more

We had a party at this hotel and it was this Bar that was most elegant. They have Rosies, but this is more nightlife versus restaurant.

While we loved the hotel, the way we were treated in the bar ruined our entire stay. I have also reached out to Fairmont privately to discuss this, but they have not replied so I will post it here. We had a $100 credit to use during our stay. On Thursday night after a day of site-seeing, we went in the bar, Nacarat, for a drink. We ordered a red wine, which had obviously turned. But they were busy and we just signed our tab (with appropriate 20% tip) and left. Saturday night we returned for a drink after being out all day. We were dressed in sweaters and jeans, as were many others. The hostess sat us at the bar, as requested. It was moderately busy but not packed. Waited about 10 minutes without being served, even smiling and making eye contact with bartenders. 5 more minutes, hostess seats a couple beside us at the bar, a server immediately comes from behind and gives them water and drink menus. I smile and make eye contact and he nods. I assume he'll be back. Hostess sits another group to our right, server immediately comes again and gives them waters and menus and delivers the first couple's drinks. We've easily been there 25 minutes with nothing. I wave my hand over my head to get his attention. He comes to us, " how may I help you?" I point out we haven't been served. "What would you like ma'am?" No offer of water or menus like the others. I tell him we just want beers. He asks what beer, I ask for a Coors or a Molson l, he says "we don't have that, how about a Bud Light - or are you against that?" At this point I do not know if he's making fun of us or not, I just want a drink, so say sure Bud Lights are fine. He delivers them fairly quickly without incident. We drink them in 10 or 15 mins. Then he continues to serve everyone around us still, I'm sure seeing our empty beers, but pivots quickly without helping us 3 times. I look at my watch. It's 10 p.m. I tell my husband "at 10:15 we are leaving without paying." At one point I tell a bartender we would like to pay, and I see him tell the server, who does not come to us. So at 10:15 we very slowly gather our coats and belongings and head out. As we are stepping out the door I wave goodbye at our server, who then chases us out into the lobby waving our receipt. "Were your Bud Lights not cold enough?" I let him know we'd been trying to leave for 20 minutes but he kept serving everyone around us and not us. He invited us back in for "Bud Lights I will personally serve you cold!!! If Bud Light does not insult you!" We told him no thank you, it's clear you don't wish to serve us and we have never walked out on a bill in our lives. Plus last night our wine had turned. He continued to have loud words with my husband in the lobby being sure to insert "ice cold Bud Lights!" often. We left. The hostess had taken our room number, so really I knew they could have charged us if they wanted to. If Nacarat does not want people in jeans in at night they need to post a dress code or tell the hostess not to seat them. If the server does not want to serve Americans or Bud Light, he should not work at a hotel bar. Our very nice stay was ruined by this incident and Fairmont has not replied to private messages. read more

1.5 is a better number, but cannot be done here. A fantastic place to watch drinks be made with the most supreme attention to detail. Small flowers are delicately placed, colourful swirls of art placed at the top of the impending hangover. Takes about 15 minutes a drink, so pack your patience. The food is good, limited but good. You come here for the drinks and general pretension you'd hope for in a good cocktail bar, not the food. Eye contact with the male staff seemed impossible unless you were a group of women. You'd be hard pressed to over drink here, as the time between drinks helps sobriety stay close. Woman server also, could care less about couples. I watched her offer EVERYONE seated at the bar some type of cupcake, except the two couples. Brilliant strategy, avoid comping the people who seem to populate your bar the most. Although, here at what is basically a hotel bar, if you don't speak the language you don't fit in. Polite staff eventually will talk to you, and they know their stuff and can be helpful if you've got time on your hands. All in all, good selection of liquors, wines, whiskeys and specialty drinks. We stayed at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth and had a wonderful time - gave the hotel 4 stars. We tried to visit the Nacarat Bar - essentially the hotel's only major bar - and it was closed. So while this review is for a bar that wasn't opened while we were there, we still had some thoughts. The Nacarat Bar/Terrace is located on the 3rd floor - the bar is open everyday but Monday and the Terrace everyday but Monday and Tuesday; I understand the need to get some time off, but the bar and terrace are located in downtown Montreal (which is a world class city) - we just couldn't fathom why they would close a nice attraction like the bar/terrace during summer holidays on Mondays and Tuesdays ... it just floored us. Were they saving themselves for the winter months on the terrace? Didn't understand it, even if August is the big vacation month for Montrealers ... they weren't acting like a world class hotel. And the hotel was sold out for the Rogers Tennis tournament! Three stars, just because it is probably a nice place when it is opened. read more

I've been coming to Nacarat mostly for 5@7. It's a great spot to catch up with colleagues and friends after work in downtown if you are looking for somewhere more quiet, great for conversations. If you come early, I would recommend asking for the big sofa booth, which provides nice seatings for a group. The drinks are on the more expensive side, but are consistent! They also serve well-presented cheese platters and snacks on the side, so that's a plus. read more

This was on my to-try list. We were gonna go check it out before dinner but I realized they have a new terrace so we said we'll check that out instead, this time, as it was a beautiful day out. The terrace itself is nice, felt more narrow than it really is because of the tall building. The staff is courteous and attentive despite the crowd. The drinks were great! I was thinking of visiting the new version of the Fairmont for days when I randomly ended up going there with friends on a Thursday evening. I had heard about their new bar Nacarat and wanted to give it a try. Upon entering the hotel, we had a moment of hesitation and thought that it was located in the Roselys, but the hostess was kind enough to tell us where it was. From the entrance, you can see the refinement in the decor, sober but sophisticated, modern but classy. We were seated near the windows. It was not crowded (mostly people in suits). The music was neither too low nor too high (very good selection by the way). We were greeted with a small non-alcoholic drink. Having already eaten, we ordered cocktails, I went with the waiter's suggestion and had the 57 Colada, made with Fernet Branca, Rum, Coconut Cream and Pineapple ($16): In other words, a revamped pina colada... After dinner on a Saturday night, a few of my girlfriends and I decided to grab a drink at this highly rated bar located in the lobby of the Queen Elizabeth hotel. The venue itself was very modern, nicely decorated with touches of bright orange and white leather seating against a long black rectangular bar. We grabbed a seat, and were presented with the cocktail menu; classic mixes as well as some original drinks, all over 16$. I ordered an old fashion; the cocktail was perfect! I especially enjoy that my drink came in a rock glass (just like it should) with no bells and whistles. The perfectly squared and smooth ice cube totally added class too. The vibe of the place was a little blah and confusing. There was AC/DC playing in the background, a mixed group of mostly tourists, so for a Saturday night, maybe this place isn't exactly the place to hit. So overall, maybe I'd give it another try for a weeknight apéro but the prices and vibe won't have me going back soon even though the drinks were great. read more

On a warm summer afternoon it was completely packed with a real mix of people, lots of glamorous 30-somethings and out of towners. Despite being super busy, service was surprisingly friendly and fairly quick at the bar. It's a beautiful space with nice views of downtown. Music was loud to the point where it was hard to have a normal conversation. Decent selection of cocktails and wines by the glass. Went here since it's super close to my work. Fancy place for a drink. Drink prices vary from 14-34$ a drink so definitely not on the cheap side. The crowd is mostly older business people and there is a DJ playing some upbeat lounge music. If it's in your price range, give it a shot for a drink or two but beware of the final bill! As a passerby- I was excited to check out the newly renovated Fairmont Elizabeth. It was a random walk in into the Nacarat. Let's just say I was really impressed by the upscale trendy decor. It reminded me of the second floor of the W hotel- Well lit, leather seating and mellowed out vibe that was not overcrowded. We were seated by the hostess and given complimentary welcome drinks of passionate fruit lemonade in small crystal shot glasses. The menu had an assortment of food and signature cocktails. I picked the negronen that was 16$. A few minutes later my drink made a grand entrance contained in a smoking lantern case. The waiter explained that the dry ice is used to keep the liquor at idea temperature for the flavors to disperse. To top of this jubilee, my glass was painted with chocolate and had the drink had gold flakes. I felt like an Egyptian princess drinking it!. Great experience, service and staff!
