I was going to visit two of my bffs who just had a baby and I wanted to bring something over. I drove by Nadia Cakes and saw their sign advertising that they won Cupcake Wars. I went in and picked up a four-pack of cupcakes. The employee wasn't too friendly or conversational, but it didn't bother me since I wasn't planning to stay long. The cupcakes I chose for the four-pack were the chocolate vanilla, strawberry pie, lemon drops, and red velvet. I also bought another red velvet for myself. It was tasty and moist. The icing was sweeter than I would like, but not too sweet. The pricing is relatively cheap compared to other cupcakeries, especially if you get a multi-pack. read more

Nadia Cakes now has TONS of other amazing bakery items!!!! So far I've tried the cookies and the mini cheesecakes, but I'm dying to try their Trifle!! The Cookie Royale is the best cookie I've ever had in my entire life!! It's chocolate chip with coconut and macadamia nuts- I had no idea what it was the first time a took a bite but I knew it was delicious. I picked at the last one I got for about 4 days just to make it last, and it stayed just like it was fresh baked for that long! It was so soft and doughy- I couldn't believe it!! They also have cannolis and of course I wanna try one of those too... My sweet tooth has been going crazy lately, and I happened to be in Palmdale randomly last weekend so I stopped by and picked some cupcakes up for my parents and I. I've been savoring the ones I got all week long, trying to make them last!! Sadly, I finished my chocolate peanut butter cupcake today. They had a really unique flavor this time too... Lavender with a buttercream frosting- wow it was SOO good. The flavor in the cake was really light and the frosting was absolutely delicious. Plus it was really pretty with the purple cake. I love this place!! Like I've said before, I prefer the more home-made texture to their cupcakes, they melt and fall apart in your mouth. I guess it's just not for people that want a more firm cupcake? I dunno what's wrong with you people though :-P To be honest though, I don't really like their red velvet- something about it just isn't right. I had watched Nadia Cakes on TLC's TV show "Fabulous Cakes". I watched it and then re-watched it again with my mother! I had went to Nadia Cakes with my mom on the day of their one year anniversary, but the line was all the way down the side-walk and around the corner! We ended up not going in side! But I did take a peak in side and saw how cute and pink it was. =) I ended up coming back on another day, with a girlfriend of mine! We got the 4 cupcakes for $10. We shared them.. We got the Peanut Butter Cup, Rainbow Sherbert, Chocolate Vanilla and the Chef's Special which was the french toast with bacon and a espresso bean! Seriously bummed out. Been going here since they opened and just love the owner, but today I went in to order a birthday cake for our daughters 18th birthday. First I'm told they are closed on the 16th of April, in a way like " oh well bye". Then when I say I can pick it up on the 15th she comes back and says we won't deliver that day. Ok again with the "okay bye attitude". I respond that I will pick it up. Third times a charm right; NOT!!! She comes back and says the decorator is busy and hands me a business card and tells me to email. R u freaking kidding me??? If I'm going to drop 300-400 hundred on a cake the least u could do is take my order. I already knew the flavors, shape decor and everything. How hard was that. My mother-in-law mentioned Nadia's cupcakes 4 days in a row and we finally caved and got 4 cupcakes for $10 - Strawberry Pie, Vanilla Vanilla, Lemon Drop, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup. Nadia's has a different cupcake menu every day posted on their site: http://www.nadiacakes.com/gallery.html Each cupcake was delicious, and the way we do it is we cut them up into pieces so we could each try them all. A glass of milk helps to cleanse the pallet a bit. Usually the icing puts a cake over the top, but at Nadia's the cake does. It's just perfectly done - no complaints on the cake. Each cupcake had the perfect amount of flavor between the cake and the icing, and the texture of the cake was moist but not gross-moist. Cake is like the only thing you eat that you want to be moist. And it was just moist enough. I'm going to stop saying the word that starts with 'm' and ends in 'oist' so no one gets grossed out. I feel like there was 3-4% too much frosting on some of the cupcakes - that sometimes it overwhelmed the cake, but still they kick other cupcakes butts to the moon and back. They have cheesecake cupcakes in the back fridges that you have to try. They are delicious! Some of my favorite flavors are the brownie cupcake, candy corn, spumoni, strawberry, and many others. We purchased some raspberry macaroons which were generously filled with raspberry cream and were some of the best I've had. We also had a cake pop with pink (white chocolate) and lemon cake. It was delicious. Lastly, I purchased a six pack of gourmet cupcakes. The fudgy brownie with cream cheese frosting cupcake did not make it home. It was a fluffier version of a brownie with the most amazing cream cheese buttercream style frosting. It was better than I could have hoped for. This shop is really adorable and some of the bakers were meeting with a client for a big event. I noticed they had ice cream cupcakes and ice cream filled cannolis as well. Definitely a treat. This review is solely for their vegan cupcakes. I ordered a dozen for my birthday. 6 strawberry and 6 vanilla. The frosting was the best thing. Very fresh and fragrant and not too sweet. The cakes.....oh the cakes! They had to be the worst cakes I've ever had. They were absolute mush. It seemed as if though they were soaked, basically wet and not baked. Not a huge cupcake fan but I appreciate the lovely presentation and unique creations they offer here. The lemon drop and almond amaretto are my favorite thus far. However, I wouldn't come here too often because the price is a tad high and I really don't want to be one of those Yelpers that gets fat after trying different cupcake flavors at an award winning cupcake shop just to post updates for random Yelp readers. And what bothered me is some cupcakes of the same flavors were of different sizes .. So you see a customer walk out with the same cupcakes you ordered but yours is a fraction of the size. The cupcakes are good, but never get the chocolate chip cookies. A group of 4 of us went in and asked if they had chocolate chip cookies. She said yes, gave us 3 bags of 2. All 4 us could not take more than 1 bite, awful. They tasted exactly like the store smells. We all felt like the cookies were made in the same pans the cupcakes are made in and not cleaned between cupcakes and cookies. I've been here a few times, since moving to California it seems like there is a big trend with cupcakes and I was happy to see a place like this in Palmdale. The presentation and different kinds of cupcakes that they offer are interesting and there are a few kinds that I would always get such as anything with chocolate in it and red velvet. I find that the frosting is heavy and layered on a bit to thick as it causes the cupcake to fall over if you place it on a plate, it also can be to sweet at times and overpowering. The actual cupcakes themselves that I have gotten have been moist and flavorful and I am a fan of the filled cupcakes especially the one with nutella in them. It is however way to pricey for a cupcake that I can maybe not easily make at home but make nonetheless for a fraction of the price. read more

I wish the cupcakes were a little moister, and had a bit more flavor, but they are still tasty. The award-winning cupcake is for sure the best of the lot. To be fair, I think it's a bit unfair to call it a "cupcake," since it's literally cheesecake, but in a cupcake shape. Still, it is very good cheesecake; full of flavor, and very moist. Definitely among the better cheesecakes I've had. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The customer service was fine. Not great, and not bad. They got the job done! PRICING: This is one of my bigger complaints. I really like Nadia's. In terms of flavor and taste, 4.5/5 stars. They always have cool, creative, and delicious flavors especially when it comes to their seasonal offerings (I've only ever had a dry or unpleasant-tasting cupcake like once or twice in years of coming here and that was in the beginning when the customer service was also really bad). For their maintenance of the customer area, 5/5. The shop is always pristinely clean, warm, and aesthetically pleasing. Customer service is the area in which I've ALWAYS felt needed improvement. I've had a very mixed bag of experiences with Nadia's over the years when it comes to the service (its like a 2.5/5). Sometimes I get a really nice employee helping me and other times (especially when I first became a customer) I get someone rude who won't acknowledge me till the last minute. Lastly, on their ability to customize, I give them a 2.5/5. Last night my husband went to pick up an anniversary cake I had put in the order for about 2 months ago and it was not what I asked for even though I actually went overboard providing details about what I wanted; also the cake cost $80 so I was really aggravated and upset because we actually went out of our budget because I thought "Hey its Nadia's, this is a simple cake for them to do, just look at their past work!" (if you look below at the pictures you'll see why I was so disappointed; initially I only noticed the dripping purple frosting missing but there are huge differences in what I asked for and what I got). In the end, I'm still really shocked I went out of my way to spend that much on an anniversary cake that turned out wrong and I will never again trust them to purchase another custom cake in the future but I really do appreciate the way Andy, the manager, went about resolving it. We are from Long Beach so this place is a ways out for us. We came in to grab some cupcakes because we were in the area and heard they won cupcake wars so we thought to give them a try. We came in and the store didn't have any other customers at first and we were a little overwhelmed by the choices but the person helping us was very patient with us! The cupcakes we tried were really good. I had to try out their cheesecake cupcake and oh wow was it amazing!! The bananas foster was sooo good as well. Those were the best ones we had. We also got to try the chocolate chip cookie dough one, chocolate peanut butter, and a plain vanilla one. They were all tasty but the cheesecake one and banana foster really popped the most to us. I really liked that they were all very moist and if you are a frosting lover they put plenty of it on the cupcakes! My sister and I decided to get the edible cookie dough on our way home from a trip, as a treat for ourselves.... if there wasn't a fine for littering I would have thrown it out the window. We go to Nadia's whenever we have the chance, and we even had them make the cake for our son's two year birthday. We always have a good experience when we go there! Yes, it is a little pricey, but that's why it's a "treat", and not something you do every single day. The chocolate peanut butter are my favorite! The peanut butter frosting is incredible! My husband loves the lemon, and my son eats them all. The cake they made for my son's birthday was beautiful! The took pictures from one of his favorite books and hand-painted characters on the cake! My guests were very impressed, and my son was overjoyed (and, by the way, it was delicious--lemon and strawberry cake!). They even went above and beyond and added some extra decorations for free. The staff is always professional and courteous. I've tried many of the flavors, and loved all but one, but that was just my personal taste and not a reflection on how the cupcake was made. I've tasted Nadia Cakes before, but I didn't have a whole cupcake. What I can say now is that I'll definitely be back. Tried the fresh strawberry and the peanut butter cup cupcakes. The fresh strawberry tasted as advertised. I found that the sugary sweetness was actually from the frosting and that the cake was more of a subtle sweet flavor. It was amazing. If you're into tart and want something not too sweet, go for this cake! The peanut butter cup was my favorite. It had a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting, although I could taste the peanut butter in the cake as well. If you like Reese's then you'll love this cupcake. All of the cupcakes were moist and the frosting was not too dense. So I was expecting to pay $12.50 for 4 cupcakes, but to my surprise, the cupcakes were only $2 each. We stopped in at the Palmdale location to pick up a cupcake for my mother-in- law's birthday,& what a beautiful selection! The place smelled wonderful, and there were all kinds of interesting flavors to choose from. We ended up getting a lemon raspberry flavor, for her, and I decided to try the vegan chocolate one. It was sweetly packaged in clear container with a carrying handle.She was so excited to try it & loved it! I am picky about cupcakes..It was a bit too sweet for me, & I wasn't a fan of the vegan cupcake. However, there are so many flavors to choose from,I would definitely go back to try more. They were reasonably priced considering the creative cupcake world,& the counter worker was helpful in navigating us thru what they had in the way of flavors,& alternative options with gluten free, vegan and such. The most moist, soft, flavorful cakes I've ever had with wonderful cream cheese icings! Honestly I would say save your $. I would say the buttercream is too sweet, in my opinion whipped cream would go best on the cupcakes. I paid $28 for 6 cupcakes. I'll never buy there again.
