With the scale tipping slightly more form than function, this hipster restaurant/bar screams Williamsburg BK, right down to the Black Keys wall art. And that's not a knock, but the American gourmet style food was just OK, nothing extraordinary but a respectable 3 stars. They do serve up a tasty tuna tapa & chips with each order which was unusual. And based on the fellow diners, most folks seem to come here for the burgers...we got the rolled hot dog. But hands down the most extraordinary item to comment on about this joint is the bathroom...take a close friend and discover why. They do offer free wifi but it's very spotty. I went for the menu of the day. There are two options: 1. 8€ and you get one entree, a drink and dessert. 2. 10€ - appetizer, entree, a drink and dessert. The menu had a lot of choices which made it hard to choose! For the appetizer I'd recommend a salad! They were great! I got a hamburger for my entree. It was surprisingly good! It had crispy bacon pieces on it and grilled onion & cheese. I think the only thing I didn't like was the cheese! Everything else was great! I got a sort of lemon coffee cake with raspberry sauce on top which was moist and delicious! I'd definitely go back! Maybe only for a menu del dia though, because it was such a great deal! :) As far as service goes, I didn't see anything out of the ordinary for Spain... Service is never amazing in Spanish restaurants. But they were prompt when you called for them, and the food was quick! read more

This was the first place a friend of mine tried to get us into last week, but we ended up sitting at the Spanish place in the square instead, which I'm infinitely thankful for. Naïf has great intentions. They recommended their hamburgers & nachos. How bad could it be? Really? Quesadillas are fool proof (seriously, how can you screw up melted cheese between two tortillas?) For the love of greasy American Mexican food, do not eat here. The cheese sauce on the nachos was floury. Both kids rejected the olives & chips. The quesadilla was inedible--here is how you screw up quesadillas: Step 1: mushy, grainy tortillas Step 2: floury cheese sauce. Not real cheese, but a floury cheese sauce Step 3: steam the thing because searing on a hot pan, tossing under a heating element, or even microwaving is out of the question The pickled jalapeños were the best part, or maybe I was just hungry. No, those were good. 20EC for 2 drinks & inedible food. We ended up heading around the corner & up the street to the place run by a very sweet queen. This place has some excellent burgers - I definitely recommend La Mexicana or La Iberica. The staff was very accommodating, especially when we asked them to cook one of our burgers a bit more. All of our meat was very rare, so if you can't deal with rare meat be warned. The ambiance is awesome and in a great location. There were so many people outside so we decided to go in and we're glad we did. We ordered the burger with truffles, the turkey sandwich and the four mini burgers. The four mini burgers were incredible! Each were a different flavor with different bread such as a curry flavored bun with guacamole. We also ordered the mozzarella wrap with pesto which was great. Terrible customer service experience. Waited for over an hour to sit outside, which we were fine with because it was a beautiful night and we really wanted to eat outdoors. The waiter seating everyone outside told us, after an hour of waiting, that we could sit at the bar inside and he would come get us when a table opened as we were first on the list. We saw a group get up outside and walked out to ask the waiter about the table, to which the waiter told us that a new group of girls had walked up and since we were inside, he gave the table to them, despite him suggesting we sit inside and assuring us we were still first on the list. This group of girls was not even seated yet as he was telling us this, and we asked if he could just explain to them that we've been waiting for an hour, and he was incredibly rude and basically said too bad and tough luck. Think he was treating us poorly bc we were tourists, as he had been rude to us and not to other guests prior as well. read more

Food is gourmet American style and ambiance is very chill and hipster, but the waitstaff aren't always the most pleasant.

If you want a change from spanish food, come to naif! Delicious salads, soups and creative wraps and sandwiches. The lunchtime menu Monday to Thursday is great value. read more

Good honest burger joint. The bun was a bit dry and serving potato crisps as the side seemed cheap rather than trendy. We enjoyed it but I wouldn't go again. The service was friendly but it was hard to attract their attention and the food look longer than expected. We sat inside and maybe we would have done better outside. Naif is a wonderful place for a fixed price lunch outside. While they also have indoor seating, we have only eaten on the plaza because it gets nice sunshine and is very lively. I've only had salads -- the one with goat cheese and the one with smoked salmon are both very good, just ask for dressing on the side (separado) because they drench the salad with dressing. I choose the 8 euro lunch menu (+ surcharge for eating on the terrace), with a glass on red wine as my drink and espresso to finish. I've had better espresso elsewhere, so I would recommend choosing a dessert instead. The salads are very good gluten free options and fill me up because they're very large. read more

First, the service is non existent besides taking your order. My beer was served in a warm glass and was completely flat. This place only has sandwiches and burgers for the most part so you'd think they would be decent. The bread is awfully dry and untoasted which ultimately ruins the burger or sandwich. Most of the choices are rather boring and bland. Your food is served on a tin jail plate and instead of fries you get a few chips. Had the menu- cream de verduras followed by the cheeseburger and both were delicious! Previous reviews said the service was poor, but perhaps only by American standards- for a Spanish restaurant I found them quite attentive! My sister had one of the salads and it was lovely- real mixed greens ( not iceberg per usual) great dressing and goat cheese. read more

Worst restaurant in Madrid. For the location you expect staff accustomed to lots of traffic. Even on a Saturday night, it was busy but not overly busy. And yet staff were slow, forgot an order, did not bring condiments to the table, silverware with dried food on it, very rude staff: Me: "Can you add an extra slice of cheese to my burger." Waiter: "No. That burger doesn't allow that. Read the menu." Expensive for what you are given, too. Of all the good restaurants in Madrid, do yourself a favor and go to them instead of Naif. read more
