I have been coming here for a while, and today I received the worst manicure I've ever had. See pic. I mentioned to them it looked horrible and she said it was my nail, which I have never had nail polish do this on my nails for 20 years. She denied that it was a poor manicure. I asked if I could have a discount for my next manicure and they said no and wasn't going to do anything about it. I told them it was poor business and then they offered 9 dollars back! To be fair, I went into this with 0 expectations (I usually do more research) with my roommate... we were both feeling restless a few days ago - skies were gray, we were tired, but we knew we needed to get out of the house. We decided to do find a nail salon close by that could accommodate the both of us for a no-chip manicure asap and head there immediately. We called Nail Fairy ahead of time and they stated that they could fit us both in immediately - SCORE! We headed that way and walked through the door within 10 minutes. We were greeted kindly, but quickly they explained that they had misunderstood us. One of us would have to wait 10-15 minutes - OK no big deal. They were accurate on their timing, I sat down within 15 minutes. I LOVED the atmosphere of the place - super cozy with bohemian decor near the pedicure area - dying for my next pedi to be at Nail Fairy. The massage after the manicure - BEST I have ever had at a nail salon. It was short, but honestly pretty stellar in quality. Finally, the most important part - the nails. I got white (I Cannoli Wear OPI) for the first time. She shaped them well & at the end, I was happy with what the end result. I am a nurse, so I will say that I am pretty hard on my nails and that they do not necessarily maintain as well as I would like. Unfortunately, I do think that these chipped a little earlier than usual. Not a huge deal, but one of the other salons I typically go to has a 2 week no-chip policy and will fix any chips, which I appreciate. To summarize, I liked this place. The staff was nice, I was able to walk in last minute, and I was content with what I got. I am hoping to return for a pedicure at some point, as I really liked their set up! read more

I've been coming here once or twice a month for a little less than two years. I always ask for the technician Eunji, she gives the best shoulder massages. The salon itself is very clean and have a wide range of brands and colour selections. There is always a movie playing. Staff are very friendly despite the occasional language barriers but it's never awkward. For an average weekday evening, allow 1.5hours if you are getting a no chip mani + regular pedi. They take their time and do a excellent job. Try to make an appointment before you go in, it gets busy quickly since it is a spot around college campus after all. And began to rip off my no chip and started to stab me with her tools. Twice I told her she was hurting me and she blamed the nail polish. The! Best! Nail! Salon! In! Chicago! I've been coming to nail Fairy for about a year now ever since I moved to the neighborhood, and this place never ever ceases to impress me. The salon is clean, well-decorated, and comfortable, and they always have funny movies playing for your entertainment. One of the biggest plusses for this place is this awesome service called a Dazzle Dry manicure that air dries in 5 minutes with special polish, chip free for 2 weeks. It even includes a quick shoulder massage. The highlight here and the reason Nail Fairy is such a great place is the STAFF. They're attentive, friendly, and generally very professional, to the point where I came in two days after a manicure with a chipped nail and they fixed it for me then and there, free of charge, and even though I offered to pay them, they very graciously declined. The quality of the manicures here is unparalleled, as well. The technicians really take their time with each client, regardless of how busy they are, and schedule their appointments accordingly. I'd say I always get at least an hour allocated specifically for me, even if all I need is a manicure and it takes less time. And a quick shout out to Amy, my favorite nail technician -- she's a rockstar, and she is very, very nice, even to picky clients like me! read more

I walked in and asked "do you guys do acrylic removal" and the girl looked at me and waited for her coworker to answer. They said "we don't have time". Shocked, I took a look around the salon and asked "are you closed?" And they said "we're fully booked". Mind you there was NO ONE in the salon. I come here for no chip manicures. So far I have had zero complaints. The salon is very clean and modern. This is actually one of the most sanitary salons that I have visited in the area and maybe even in the whole city. The staff is friendly and I love how they play movies!! It makes the experience more pleasant, plus it makes time go by much faster. They usually play rom-coms or other fun movies. The technicians are pretty good, the only thing is that I have to remind the techs to file my nails in a way that they match and look cohesive. I've noticed that they don't make sure that the nails are all shaped the same (that might just be me being a perfectionst). But I have to remind them to adjust certain nails so that they all look cohesive. Besides that they are very accomodating and professional. They also give complimentary hand and neck massages which is super nice! I also appreciate that they do student discount!! Very clean salon. The service is good and efficient. While getting a manicure, you get a quick neck massage, a great perk! They constantly have chick flicks playing here, a great way to stay entertained while getting your nails done. I took away one star because last time I went, the girl who waxed my eyebrows/ did my nails was chewing gum and kept chewing with her mouth open loudly. I've had great experiences every single time I have been here. Plus, the atmosphere is super cozy. Love this place. Great, quality work. I generally get about 40-45 min of service on the spa pedicure, which is a lot longer than most of the places I've been to. Love the shoulder massage at then end, and how they always have movies playing. They NEVER treat customers like garbage or talk about you in another language like other nail places. Even when they're busy, they will be very accommodating. My only beef is that paraffin wax isn't included in the spa pedicure, they should change that immediately. She made sure my nails were filed/shaped perfectly, I didn't feel rushed at all! The shop is clean, new and decorated really cute. The best thing is the price!!! $30 is like 5-10 bucks cheaper than any other gel mani I've seen in the city, and the fact that they came out perfect for that price is the icing on the cake. This is pretty much my go-to nail salon recently. They always take their time with you, even when they get busy. That's probably why, during peak hours (after 4:30pm or during the lunch hour) it's best to make an appointment. They give a nice mani/pedi for a decent price, and then throw in a shoulder/neck massage as an added bonus. And not just the sort of apathetic massage that you get while your nails dry at some nail salons. Basically, they massage your hands and arms with lotion, wrap them up in hot towels, then lean you over and really massage your shoulders & neck. With lotion. Then they clean it off with a hot towel. And that's all included with every manicure. So be sure to wear a loose-fitting shirt when you go, and of course, if you don't want the lotion or the massage, I'm sure they won't force it on you. But I think it's a nice little perk! read more

This is a great nail salon. I had Julie who was amazing and really took her time. I had three weeks this past month of outside manual labor and she made me look brand new again, no spot of dirt anywhere! She was gentle but her massages were perfect and it was all about my comfort. I had a few cuts on my hands that she worked around and made sure she didn't hurt me all while making me feel extremely relaxed. The chick flick "Dear John" playing in front of me added to my whole girly hour as well, which I loved. They really take care of you here and want to make sure you leave happy and relaxed. In a previous post, I stated that I frequently drive out of my way to come to this nail salon. I did the same last night, though I may not be doing so in the future. I scheduled a mani/pedi for 7 pm in anticipation for the holiday. Normally this is a pleasant, relaxing experience for me, but last night was by far the most uncomfortable dollars I've ever dropped to have my nails painted. Zulaa, my technician seemed distracted, rushed, and genuinely pissed off to have me as a customer. She even frequently turned her back to watch TV while she did my nails! On top of that, her filing and clipping were painful and rough. My toes and fingers still hurt from her work. And this morning the nail polish is already wearing away because I can see where she didn't put the top coat. I accidentally messed up one of my nails twice and had to have her fix it. After one of these times she actually waved me away from table like I was being dismissed. I am completely disappointed and dissatisfied with this service. If you don't have enough time to do a mani/pedi in 1 hour, then don't schedule them for that time and certainly DO NOT make your customer feel like a nuisance and give them poor service. Guess it's time to find a new salon in my own neighborhood. If I ever do come back here again, you can bet I will specifically request a different manicurist and I will not hold my tongue if the service is sub-par. There are too many other places in Chicago where I can spend the same amount for a better product. read more

I went to this place for the first time this evening. It was absolutely amazing. They are so nice, very welcoming, down-to-earth. My nails look absolutely beautiful (as do my eyebrows). They do not rush you whatsoever, and it is so relaxing. I feel like I will be a regular! The price is great, $15 for mani, $10 for eyebrows. It has been one week since my no chip manicure and I have been back not once, not twice, but three times to get it fixed. Within one day, an entire nail had peeled off without me even touching it. After two days, two nails had completely peeled off. I went in and they seemed to want to fix it, but within the next day, two more nails had completely peeled off. My nail tech Zulaa seemed to maybe have forgotten to put a top coat on? Either way. I can't believe how much time I have spent just to ensure my $30 no chip manicure actually stays on my nails. Usually love Nail Fairy but very disappointed. Julia did an awful job on my manicure. She bumped the wet polish on my nails twice and did not do anything to fix it. My nails are all different shapes. This is the best nail salon in the city! They are taking covid very seriously, have hand sanitizer available right when you walk in, plexiglass between the customer and the nail technician for manis and between customers for pedis. They do such an amazing job here and every time I bring a new friend with me, they stop going wherever they were going and only go to Nail Fairy moving forward. read more

I agree, I don't know why these previous yelpers are hating on my favorite salon so much, this place is amazing! I literally came here because I was driving around looking for a new salon one day and I decided to gve it a try. The atmosphere is very relaxing, very clean and calming. They do have a huge flat screen in the middle of the salon, so we can stare at something other than the girls doing our nails (Plus they usually play some sort of chick-flick!) The prices are very reasonable, considering the exceptional customer service that you receive. And my $15 manicure which included at least 3 different rub-downs was great. I love that they massage your arms, hands, back and wrap them in hot wet towels afterwards. They also do your shoulders while your polish is drying. This cute little place will leave you feeling refreshed, happy and coming back for more! They are definitely worth trying! read more

I have come here a few times before, they have been rude once or twice but usually they are pretty good and I like the atmosphere so I keep coming back. But, I got a no chip & pedi on Friday, and then on Saturday the top coat of my pink nails...turned brown. There is a brown film on every nail. No, I did not spray tan. I did some digging and it seems when you use expired top coat, this can happen. Im beyond annoyed that just 3 days later i have to go back in and get them all re-done. read more
