First off I've never been to a restaurant and thought that everything was the best! After having a very heartbreaking evening, our group found ourselves at Nancy's. What a wonderful surprise, not only was the food absolutely amazing, the service was friendly and restaurant was very clean. My fiancé ordered The Mess. I ordered the 2x2x2, I don't eat eggs so they let me substitute for hash browns, which were the best hash browns I've ever had! I went with the bacon, which the server recommended and was a fantastic choice. The bacon was actually bacon!! Not some microwave, thin atrocity. Then the pancakes, WOW. Just WOW. Best pancakes I've ever had in my life. My fiancé isn't the biggest pancake fan but tried a bite and said they were the best pancakes he's ever had! Hands down best breakfast I've had! Found this restaurant by luck. I'm glad that I found it. Customer service was outstanding. They had more than enough wait staff to service the tables. The wait staff was very friendly. Even though they were busy, they took time to answer any questions that I had. As soon as customers left, they removed the dirty dishes and wiped down the tables. I had the Denver omelet with cottage cheese. I got a "giant" glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. The "giant" class was expensive but well worth it. I had my dog in the car and got her a grilled chicken. They cut up the chicken breast without me asking. Definitely, a return trip is warranted. read more

Nancy's cafe was a great find. My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday and enjoyed an omelet with crispy bacon and hash browns. It was a large portion and we split it. Bottom line: food was fine but not anywhere near 5 stars to us. Art work was cool. Service was mediocre. Price was high for what you get and the service. I'm torn between a 2 or a 3 for this place mostly based on the art on the walls. I'm not really sure why it has such good reviews and I hate to leave a poor one but we came here based on reviews I think leaving one I feel is accurate to base a visit on is warranted. Food and service equated to about a Denny's or IHOP for me but more expensive and service not really as good.. It was $95 + tip so we paid $115 for 4 kid meals and 2 adults, 3 kid drinks and a coffee. Also if a kids meal is $8-$10 I kinda expect it includes a drink but my fault for not checking that. Don't expect a coffee refill. The art was cool and my kids really enjoyed looking for the characters (it's a lot of Disney and Pokémon etc.). The service was lacking. The guy who got our drinks was friendly so we appreciated that. Our server had a mask on and barely talked. I had to flag him down to ask for anything we needed. He never checked on us. I didn't get a coffee refill etc. Food was mediocre. Eggs Benedict hollandaise sauce was thick and sweet- kind of diner style taste which isn't my favorite. I expected homemade lighter but rich flavor. The kids pancakes Included 3 small baseball size pancakes ($8.75). My brother said his breakfast burrito was fine but not special. Best of what we ordered was the kids French toast. I'd go back if I was really hungry and in that shopping center but with much lower expectations. Not 5 stars to me. Quite possibly the best tasting breakfast place in Auburn. Had The Mess and it was delicious!

When we first walked in we were confused on what to do which I'd say was the only thing they should make more clear. There were a couple other people waiting already but no one at the counter so we just waited. A man came in after us and obviously knew the process as he walked right up to the counter and wrote his name on a little pad of paper. So I went over and wrote my name. It seemed a little stressful for the workers at the moment BUT it really didn't take them long to sit us and then the server was with us very quickly and our food was served very quickly. I say the food was delicious and the service was great and attentive. Just need a sign that states where to put your name on the list otherwise I will 100% be back! Welp~I informed the staff I was ordering my meal to go . . . While waiting for my meal, I took a couple of photos proving I actually visited Nancy's Cafe. Upon receiving my to-go meal, I went to my truck, and left Nancy's Cafe to go to Roseville-just to bumble around on this boring Forth Of July 2020 Holiday: No parades, no picnic, can't go camping, can't visit the beaches, can't do this or do that because EVERYTHING WAS SHUT DOWN DUE TO COVID19~WAAAAAAAH! I finally arrived in Roseville/Rocklin, pulled into the Bass Pro's parking lot, and pulled out my meal I purchased from Nancy's Cafe . . . What an amazing experience! I decided to meet my girlfriend for brunch at this little place. It's in a shopping mall, so it's not much to look at, but I didn't care. The staff were so welcoming and friendly! I needed to wait for a half hour, but they seated me right away. All the booths were taken, but when one cleared out they offered it to me right away. I don't think anyone was waiting to be seated, but it felt especially thoughtful of them to remember I wanted a booth. And then there's Nancy herself. What a terrific lady!! Once my girlfriend got there, she grabbed a chair and sat down to take our order. We learned about her family and their presence in the Auburn restaurant community. She was so friendly and sweet in the things that she said. It was just amazing! The food was good and a good value. There were a few specials and I tried one. But I'll tell you, I will go back here simply because of the service. It's so wonderful to interact with such friendly, welcoming people!!! read more

Vegan menu is SO GOOD! Finally a more traditional breakfast place that accommodates those of us who wish to eat kindly. They offered everything from vegan butter for the toast to vegan milk for the coffee to HUGE breakfast plates of plant-based goodness. So much food, in fact, that we had two meals of it. The service here is always great. The restaurant is cozy and food comes out quickly. They are super accommodating whatever your food preferences are. Every time I come here to eat. Service is right away. The vibe is nice and peaceful. The art decor is relaxing and paintings on the walls are of local areas and things. The service is fantastic. There is a new owner and he is quite pleasant, very engaging, and very accommodating. Did I mention that the prices are very customer friendly. Came here with a group of friends on a Saturday morning for brunch. It was pretty busy so we had to wait for about 30 minutes. The wait wasn't bad at all and we were greeted by so many people that walked by. This cafe is in a large parking lot so there was adequate parking. The cafe itself is on the smaller side. It is definitely a mom-and-pop shop. Once we were seated, we were given menus and water. The waiter gave us some time to order. The menu is stacked with a lot of good options all at reasonable prices. Our waiter was so thorough and made sure to get all of our orders down correctly. I ordered the Breakfast Skillet w/o mushrooms. The menu item also came with biscuits. I ended up getting the biscuit with gravy. Even with my large party of 6, they brought out the food pretty quickly. The breakfast skillet was so good. It was well seasoned and packed with a lot of flavors. I loved it. The gravy was also very good. It was nice and thick and packed with a lot of flavors. My friends also ordered various items on the menu. One person got the corned beef and enjoyed it. They said that it was not salty and had a nice taste to it. Someone else got The Mess and they also raved about how good that was. All in all, we had a wonderful time here! The service was good. So, we were on our way to Black Bear Diner in Auburn. My wife grew up frequenting the original location Mt. Shasta, so we have a soft spot for it. We're also not familiar with the options in Auburn. Our car threw a fit, and we needed to stop short. Nancy's was on the map nearby, so we walked over. We're super happy we did! What a cool place! We first saw the Jolly Rodger of breakfast items sign out front, and were encouraged. The place was super busy on a a Thursday morning, which is always a good sign. The staff were very friendly, and the watercolor art and other decor were fun to look at. I ordered the chicken fried steak, and my wife ordered the "meat and eggs." The dishes looked so good, it's a shame we didn't take a picture, but taking photos of food isn't out thing. We'd prefer to eat it. Let me tell you, best restaurant breakfast I may have ever had. Best chicken fried steak by far! I don't think I've ever had an order that actually resembled real steak inside. I didn't know it was possible. In all fairness, it was a little chewy, but still fantastic. The breading and gravy were full of texture and flavor, and the hash browns were perfectly done. I didn't see any Tabasco or similar, but they have a spicy sauce that's locally made. It was fun! Spicy, sure, but really more of a spicy mayo consistency. It lent an interesting twist to the hash browns. Nancy's is 50mi from home, but we found ourselves looking for excuses to come back whenever we pass through Auburn next. Maybe it's the fresh air up in Auburn, or the hunger that you build up walking around in the outdoors, but anyway you look at it. Nancy's is the place to go after a morning hike in Auburn. Nancy's Cafe is located in the shopping mall area, it doesn't have any loud postings on the outside announcing its presence, but at 11 am on a Monday it definitely had people lining up outside. Nancy's cafe is VERY unique, plus the owner herself seems very unique. She is very welcoming to everyone. From the interactions, it seems like everyone is a local at the restaurant, but if you sit there for a while, she makes it feel like you're a local from the moment you come in. The food here is delicious, fresh, and has a large portion. Plus you can pour the delicious house dressing called Fire Nine. If you can, get a bottle. I made the mistake of not buying it, now I am sitting at home during COVID 19 reminiscing about all the delicious food I could be eating outside. Having that at home would've made my meals at home tastier. This is a great place, definitely a hidden gem. I am only adding to the massive amounts of praise for this place, but definitely worth a stop and to fit into your plans after a nice morning hike in Auburn. read more
