This was a fantastic experience. The chicken is perfectly cooked, the broccoli was so well-prepared that my two sons ate it without complaint and ate more, and the bottomless ice cream made this into an experience that my children will recall for the rest of their lives. I also ate the vusa sauce, which had a spicy kick and a tangy flavor. The service for me, especially with several food allergies, was outstanding. I really felt like they cared if I could eat my food safely. Really grateful for Wik's attentive service. I hate eating at restaurants that I have at home in Texas, but this stands out so much that we'll come back before we leave anyway. Oh, and the decor is beautiful. Coming to England, I knew I wanted to try Nando's right off the bat after hearing about it so much! This location is beautiful as you can see the river from where you sit. I thought the food here was great but the inside was just WAY too loud to hear anything. I felt like we had to shout at the waiters in order for them to hear what they were saying. Also, it's super hot inside during the afternoon and there's no fans or AC! We ordered a plate to share which had a full chicken, coleslaw, sweet potato wedges, and some kind of grain salad. The chicken was super tender and moist and had great flavor. The hot sauces were also delicious and spicy. I don't normally like coleslaw, but their coleslaw is pretty good! I enjoyed the other sides as well. Overall, the food here is great! They just need to work on some of the other issues with the restaurant. read more

Greenwich is one of my favorite places in London. One of the highlights is the Cutty Sark museum, which has preserved the famous clipper ship. This museum does a great job of letting visitors tour this living time capsule. Once the fast sailing vessel in the world, it hauled tea from Hong Kong to London. Now, it's been pulled out of the water and you're able to tour all of the desks and even see all of her hull. There are many maritime museums, but few have of a ship with so much history in a steel-and-glass box where are you see every side of it. I also believe the best way to reach this museum is by Thames Clippers. By taking a boat to get to Greenwich, it adds another layer to the naval history in this area. read more

Whenever I go to London I love hitting up Nando's. I was looking forward to tucking in to some good food and went to order at the counter and they said they ran out of chicken breast. Not a good look but can't deny that nandos is a top notch spot! read more

This is an interesting exhibit, in that it's a fully restored British Clipper Ship and one of the last ever built thanks to the advent of the steamer ship. It's interesting to walk through and see the various decks. That said, I feel this is exhibit is more suited for school aged kids than grownups. It took us about 30 minutes flat to see it, stem to stern. read more

Gorgeous boat displayed in a broad plaza -- not even down in the water! It's fairly impressive and I highly recommend taking a stroll around. If you've never been on a boat from this era, it may be worth your money and time to pay and hop aboard -- I just walked around it since I've been on such boats in the SF Bay, old boats and reproductions. Greenwich is super cute and touristy - sort of a tourist ghetto but a very pleasant one with loads of gift shops and eateries. It's all very clean and safe feeling. Makes a very nice afternoon visit from London and I recommend bringing a book and a blanket to sit on - just find a nice spot to relax around the University or near the observatory. read more

I've been visiting a few Nando's recently, as I've kinda been digging their Caesar salad - get the chicken a grade hotter than normal and it's great. They tend to vary a bit from restaurant to restaurant, but the one here was back on form after a rather disappointing one in Chiswick. The restaurant itself is nice, and if you're lucky (like me) you can get a table looking out over the Thames. The only annoyance here wasn't anything to do with a restaurant but another customer who was clearly trying to do some dodgy with their Nando's points and the staff weren't having any of it. This held up the queue for ordering, but doesn't effect what I thought of the restaurant. It is clearly one of the better Nando's. read more

If you look around your own city or town you may be lucky enough to have an exciting, historic and beautiful attraction too. In my town, Greenwich (Historic Maritime Greenwich) there are many. One I had yet to see was this gem, The Cutty Sark. It's a clipper ship an yes, you will know the name of the Whisky but did you know that Cutty Sark actually means something else? I won't spoil the magic if you don't because this is an attraction worth visiting. You can get tickets online or on the day but beware if there is a long queue to purchase tickets, it may take you time to get in. The entry was painfree because I got the online ticket and it's a good value too! Once inside you immediately start the tour and move right into the ship. There's heaps of information about the structure of the ship, its history and construction; the cargo, its demise and rebirth. It's all good, well spaced out points of interest and a few surprises too. This ship didn't just haul tea (which did not originate in Britain - *gasp*) but spices, wool, herbs and furnishings. NOTE TO TOURISTS: If you are visiting London, you may want to venture beyond zone 1 and discover true London in the surrounding areas. Having grown up on an island I do really like boats, so going to see the Cutty Sark was a very fun way to spend my day. As you follow the route you learn about the history of the boat, its cargo and most favours journeys and masters and why it was the fastest ship of its era. You can also explore the different areas of the boat, get a feel of what it must have been like living there for the duration of its journey and see some original items that were used for decoration. My favourite part was seeing the outside of the boat though, both up on deck and under the whole boat. It's not very often you get to visit historical boats that are not in the water but instead suspended in the air in a special made building. For those who also like walking around under a massive ship they do silent disco nights regularly so it may be worth trying that one out. If you have more time in your day you can also purchase a package ticket like I did and visit the Royal observatory too. I would recommend spending a Saturday or Sunday in Greenwich doing that and having food in one of the many pubs and restaurants of the area. read more

One of the nicest Nandos that I have visited. Yes, I know I'm giving a high rating to a chain, but credit where credit is due. The sun was shining when I visited and so my mum and I sat outside on the terrace overlooking the Thames. The roof terrace is split between tables for neighboring Zizzi & Nandos, so make sure you sit on the orange seats! It isn't entirely clear which tables belong to which restaurant and it would help if they just said to stick to the orange seats. We ordered our food and sat enjoying the view and the sun. It would have been nice if they had more umbrellas because the sun was quite hot, but the few tables that did have umbrellas were larger tables and reserved?! I didn't know you could reserve a table at Nandos! We weren't waiting long for our food and when it came, it was delicious. I had the chicken pita with rice and sweet corn and my mum had chicken wings with fries and coleslaw. It was really tasty and good value for money. If the weather is nice I will definitely visit again. At least you know what you are getting with a chain restaurant. read more

It was the invention of latitude and longitude and accurate time keeping that allowed safer travel across the globe by sailing ship. Remember the Cutty Sark? Most people know it from the booze and many don't realize that it's an actual tea clipper - and arguably the most famous and successful of them - moored permanently at Maritime Greenwich. This is a highly touristed area, a World Heritage Site according to UNESCO, and it's all well worth a visit. But if you expect to see the Cutty Sark herself you might want to hold off a couple of years, as the poor dear is still under wraps for restoration after a devastating fire. It's a real shame, but I've high hopes that she will be returned to something near her original splendour. God speed. read more

Visited the Cutty Sark on a recent trip to London and thought it was very interesting. It costs £13.50 to enter and for that you get to see inside the ship, which has exhibits that explain about its time as a world famous tea clipper as well as its recent restoration. You can also head up on deck and see the captain's quarters and feel what life would have been like on board. A definite place to visit if you're in the area. Greenwich (where the ship is docked) is also a lovely place to have a wander around, with a lovely market and pretty parks. Overall a great day out. read more

Cutty Sark is a British clipper ship. Built on the Clyde in 1869 for the Jock Willis Shipping Line, she was one of the last tea clippers to be built and one of the fastest, coming at the end of a long period of design development which halted as sailing ships gave way to steam propulsion. The opening of the Suez Canal (also in 1869) meant that steam ships now enjoyed a much shorter route to China, so Cutty Sark spent only a few years on the tea trade before turning to the trade in wool from Australia, where she held the record time to Britain for ten years. Improvements in steam technology meant that gradually steamships also came to dominate the longer sailing route to Australia and the ship was sold to the Portuguese company Ferreira and Co. in 1895, and renamed Ferreira. She continued as a cargo ship until purchased by retired sea captain Wilfred Dowman in 1922, who used her as a training ship operating from Falmouth, Cornwall. After his death, Cutty Sark was transferred to the Thames Nautical Training College, Greenhithe in 1938 where she became an auxiliary cadet training ship alongside HMS Worcester. By 1954 she had ceased to be useful as a cadet ship and was transferred to permanent dry dock at Greenwich, London on public display. Cutty Sark is listed by National Historic Ships as part of the National Historic Fleet (the nautical equivalent of a Grade 1 Listed Building). She is one of only three remaining original composite construction (wooden hull on an iron frame) clipper ships from the nineteenth century in part or whole, the others being the City of Adelaide, which arrived in Port Adelaide, South Australia on 3 February 2014 for preservation, and the beached skeleton of Ambassador of 1869 near Punta Arenas, Chile. The ship has been damaged by fire twice in recent years. Firstly on 21 May 2007 while undergoing conservation. She has since been restored and was reopened to the public on 25 April 2012. Secondly, on 19 October 2014 it suffered minor damages in a smaller fire. A very good tourist attraction reasonably priced we got the train from brighton to London Bridge and got a 2 for 1 discount only ended up costing us £13 to get in which I thought was very good. I'm reviewing this primarily as one of the landmarks on the London Marathon course. I haven't actually been on board the ship It's apparently the world's last tea clipper. From outside it seems pretty small and narrow. Not much space for a long voyage. You may also have heard that it was badly damaged by fire in May 2007. This means no-one's getting to go on board right now as it's being re-built. However, I see from the website that you can visit the conservation project, and see bits from the ship (such as the figure head), see films and perhaps watch some of the conservation work. Sounds interesting! As to the Marathon up to this point in the course, much of it has been run well off the tourist path. As such this is one of the obvious places for spectators to gather. And that makes it a bit mad Unless you are the BBC (I seem to remember spotting they had their own little enclosure on the roadside), you are going to have to battle major crowds. The roads and pavements in Greenwich are not that wide which adds to the crush. You might have problems getting in and out: the Greenwich Foot Tunnel is Northbound only during the morning. As a participant it's sort of weird, as you are back in Greenwich, where you started the day! And you've run quite a few miles though it is good to tick off the first section of the course. There's a chance of getting interviewed by the BBC. The dogleg around the ship is pretty tight, so expect to slow if you are with a lot of runners. After this though you head out into the wilds of Deptford and Rotherhithe, and some of the most deserted areas of the course. You might want to persuade your supporters they'd rather walk a bit and support you somewhere out there. As I couldn't decide where on the 26.2 mile London Marathon Course I should put a flag, I decided it would be better to split it up so this is one of a series of reviews I've done on points along the course. The exhibition isn't something special (you need less than half an hour to see it all) and the ticket is too expensive just to enter. I wouldn't suggest paying for that. I've had Nando's before in the USA but this was my first visit to a UK location. It was a cold night in November so we dined inside but got a river side table and the city view is great, the upstairs deck must be fantastic in the summer. I thought the decor and atmosphere was great and the chicken super tasty and not over cooked or dry, just right. I love mash potatoes and peas so those were my sides. Serving staff were polite, friendly and our food came out fast and hot. You really would be hard pressed to beat the value and location here. read more

The cost of admission is 10 GBP (as of this writing) and, for that, you get to walk through, on, and under the ship. All in all, it's kinda cool but if you visit at a popular time, the limited physical space will impair your experience. Some of the exhibits and informational placards are more interesting and helpful than others; the tour guide dressed as a member of the crew is quirky and could be dispensed with. read more

I've visited a lot of sailing ship museums but this one is the best by far. The Cutty Sark has been set into a building that allows you to see the underside of the ship. No other exhibit I am aware of does that. Even better, the museum makes your first view of the ship look like it is sailing. The interior displays and educational information are interactive and fun. These reviews definitely need updating since the post-fire restoration has been completed. I didn't really know what to expect since I hadn't seen the Cutty Sark before the fire, but I was impressed with the beautiful display of this ship. I learned a lot about clipper ships from the exhibit, which was varied and extensive. I enjoyed seeing the ship from above (captain's room, firstmate's quarters, etc.), inside below deck (you could see how the ship was actually constructed), and below (really gave you a feel for the ship's size and form. Entry is a bit pricey, but it wouldn't be so bad if you combined it with the Royal Observatory on a 'big ticket' which would have been a good deal if we'd thought of it before. This is definitely a place I will take my friends when they visit London as it is interesting for someone who isn't even particularly interested in ships and historical transport. read more

Good tour with a vast history on shipping in the 1800's. The ship is well maintained and the self guided tour is very informative and immersive. It costs approx 13 pounds and takes anywhere from 30 mins to an hour to walk through. The staff makes themselves available to ask questions and or guide you through each exhibit. If you love the sea and ships, it is a must-see. The clipper is a ship of beauty and work of wonder. It's amazing that it had traversed all those treacherous waters and voyages to bring tea and other goods across the far continents. A couple hours here should be sufficient. Great for kids with some interactive stations. Free entry with the London Pass. Combine it with a trip to the Royal Observatory to see the meridian and straddle two hemispheres simultaneously!!! This is the probably the nicest and most scenic Nando's in existence. There's a roof terrace with the Cutty Sark on one side and the Thames overlooking the London skyline on the other. Absolutely amazing to spend a hot summery Sunday on. Who cares what the food is like? Which is just like all Nandos - chicken, wraps, peri peri sauce standard fare. Not as spectacular as the view but will do ok. Actually might be worth coming here and just ordering the bottomless frozen yoghurt if they let you do that sort of thing. read more

After it was heavily damaged in a fire a few years ago, one would think all was lost but a new refurbishment has given way to an exciting museum and a unique way to enjoy this iconic ship.
