I love Nando's Peri-Peri !! It's very different than rotisserie chicken, as the chicken is marinated and flame grilled, which gives the chicken a totally different flavour. I are at Nando's for the first time in Vancouver in 2013, and had to go to Calgary to have it, until the restaurant came to Edmonton. I love their chicken, their sauces (which ranges from medium to hot, and another sauce is garlic flavoured), and their sides Nando's has a wide range of sides, including fries, mashed potatoes, vegetables and rice, to name a few. Definitely a place to go to for something different and very tasty. Service is great and the ambiance is welcoming, with very nice interior decoration. read more

We went here to celebrate my mom's life because this was the only restaurant we agreed upon. All in all it was meh. The staff were not particularly friendly. And I hate anywhere that I need to go up and order. Ambiance was too fast foodish. Also kiddo and I were disappointed that the machine that makes 50 different kinds of drinks and just a regular pop machine was put in. So I decided to get a sangria instead. It was horrible. I gave it to my husband to drink which rarely happens. If you like chicken then you will like it here. So many different sides with the roasted chicken. I also tried the chicken livers because I know I wasn't going to do them at home. They were better than I thought. I took a leg and theigh with spiced rice and corn. The chicken was delicous. Moist and juicy. So good. Sides were decent as well especially the corn. My husband had pretty much the same thing but with fries. Really well seasoned. I would probably get this for take out and not eat in. Also someone needs to figure out the sangria issue. That was horrible. read more

We ordered takeout for this place because we heard that their chicken was amazing, we were trying their wings in various seasonings from mild to hot. I wasn't all that impressed with their wings. They were not crispy at all, they were kind of soggy in my opinion. It looked like they had just kissed the grill. We came here recently for lunch and it was exactly what I expect out of a Nando's location: delicious food (we had chicken (of course!)), olives, sides and in general good experiences. This location was pretty deserted when we were there which was kind of refreshing as I am so used to the location I go to more frequently being very busy. Nando's is so good the mice even join in the dinner fun. We notified two employees of mice running throughout the restaurant carrying pieces of food as shown here and they could care less. The Shift Supervisor came and stated they are embarrassed and she's only covering for the Manager but will let them know. She was kind enough to offer vouchers to return to dine with the mice as a courtesy. For now, our family decided to pass. read more

Tried this place out for the first time last night, what a neat spot! You go to a table with your menu- once you know what you want you then go to the front counter and place your order with your table number, pay & then once your food will be taken to your table when it's done. You get your glass for the pop, and they have a machine that you grab your own pop with many flavour options! We got the variety pack to share between me & my hubby and we still had some left over to take home! It came with wings, chicken, two chicken skewers and two regular sides. So yummy, the chicken was so juicy, we got the plain -ish flavour and then just used the sauces there. read more

If you like chicken you would be hard pressed to find a place that delivers at this level! I have never had piri piri chicken and after eaten there today for lunch I have questioned what I have been doing with my life. Firstly, I was amazed at how they transformed this old Pizza Hut location into this comfortable and welcoming eatery. For those that want to eat at home they have a very efficient take out process. For those eating in you will go to your table and decide what you want to eat and then proceed to the front desk to order. The menu is extensive but focused really well on what you come for...awesome chicken. My wife and I got a platter to share (half chicken, two chicken skewers, five wings plus two sides). You can select what level of spice you like and I found the medium to be just about right. The flavours are amazing and I enjoyed every selection in the platter. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. The staff are awesome. We had people checking on us regularly to ensure that we were satisfied with our meal and that was a nice touch. In my view, the mark of any good restaurant is the answer to this question at the end of your meal...would I come here again? The answer for Nando's is a resounding yes! In fact, I think I will get take out for dinner:). I highly recommend Nando's to anyone craving a good and delicious chicken dinner! read more

Finally got to check this place out after a hot yoga session and really enjoyed the fairly vast menu, I guess I was expecting just chicken dishes Found it a great place to go with a few friends and order several all shareable dishes. Ordering works by placing order and paying first they then serve your table water. They have a bunch sauces to enjoy ( simply grab what you want and bring it to your table there's plenty of every flavor) the garlic sauce was the best in my opinion. read more

Portuguese flame-grilled chicken is finally here! After hearing great things about Nando's I would agree: it is really good chicken. I ordered takeout slightly after the lunch rush. After asking if I was dining in or taking out, the greeter explained the process to order, gave me a take out menu and invited me to the counter. The server asked my name and took my order. It felt very helpful and personable. I was sharing so I ordered a 1/2 chicken with medium peri-peri sauce and two sides: garlic mashed potatoes and spiced rice. The sides were small but good. The chicken, however, was the star of the show. The chicken was well sized, evenly sauced and delicious. 10 minutes and $16.45 later and I was on my way. Everyone was very friendly, the menu felt innovative and the dining area is modern and open (more so than the earl's next door). I could see this place becoming very popular with the Friday night crowd. At the speed I was served, a business lunch is also very doable. Great addition to Northeast Edmonton. read more

I've always gotten great service at the two Nandos locations in Edmonton. This recent visit to Nandos Clareview had to be the best! My friend and I walked in and were greeted immediately with friendly smiles and hellos. It was around 4pm so we were seated quickly. They asked us if we had been to Nandos before and we said "Yes!" They then left us with the menus. We went and ordered a short time after. My friend asked about their beer selection and they told us about all the great choices in detail. They had no problem ringing us in separately! We then went and sat down to wait for our food. While waiting it was great to see the staff going back to the tables previously served and making sure their meal was great and even saw some light interaction. Just some "How's your day?" and the staff removed the cockerel from each table. We had one of the staff, Danielle come up to our table and inform us that our food would be out in a moment. And seriously, a minute later our food came! I ordered a half chicken with macho peas and garlic mashed potatoes. I really love how you can customize the level of spice on the chicken, this time I got 'hot'. My friend ordered the chicken livers and garlic mashed potatoes as well. Both meals were great! A few minutes after we had gotten our food our waitress came back and asked how our meal was tasting. After we were done I ordered the Portuguese tarts and the waitress was kind in bringing the debit machine over so I could purchase dessert. Other than the chicken the tarts are my favorite part! I really like the atmosphere and staff at this location. They really made my friend and I feel at home and welcome. It's no surprise to me that this place is always super busy! Amazing quality food. I have the breast/wing with spiced rice and peri peri veggies and opted for the "hot" level of heat as I love spicy ! There are a couple less spicy options to accommodate those who don't. I LOVE Nando's. When we lived in Airdrie we visited the Calgary location a few times a month. I was so excited when Nando's cam to Edmonton as I have been missing it for 2 years. I have been here twice in the last 2 months and each time they haven't had peri peri vegetables. So disappointing. The 1st time I got the house salad wasn't impressed 2nd time I didn't order a veg. Came here a few times we had no problems but the last two times our chicken was not cooked good which was really disappointing as that's what we came for. We ordered a chicken share platter and the chicken skin was black and tasted burnt.. the next time we came we ordered my son a kids chicken tender meal and the chicken was way over dry, we told them that and they offered to replace it with a chicken skewer which was also super dry. My son could not eat either of them and did not end up getting to eat his meal which we paid for beforehand. I will definitely not be coming back here. read more

I ordered the extreme heat and was a little disappointed, not the habanero heat I like. My friend and the sandwich with roasted veggies, very tasty. I had the fries, no big deal. What's really weird is, you order from the counter and pay for you meal before it is served. The best thing is you can purchase the peri peri sauce to take home. Too many flavours to decide garlicy, spicy, lemony, tangy and so addictive. It is made from crushed chillies, citrus peel, onion, pepper, garlic, salt, lemon juice, bay leaves, paprika, pimiento, basil, oregano, and tarragon. Parking is insanely busy at peak mealtimes. Place is packed for Saturday evening supper. Seating room is not as large as south chain's location. Waiting area for take out is also packed and crowded. There's one seating bench, but it's in front of the kitchen & servers food pick up path. Wait time is long as it's very busy (30-45min). Strongly recommend ordering in advance for takeout. However, management offered a fountain soda, seasoned nuts or olives while you wait. Multiple single washroom stalls are along a hallway, different format than south location. Food quality & offerings are the same as south location... you can buy bottles of peri peri sauce or ask for sauce packets with your takeout order cuz it might get missed. I ordered the variety pack, takeout boxes have nice packaging. I feel like I get more when I'm dining in or maybe it's the location. Staff are very friendly & courteous, plus they double check the order with you before hand off. I actually came back for a second round of takeout in a week, my dad must've really liked the taste of it from last time. It's a lot less busy before supper. :) they boast free wifi, but the network is locked when I tried to access...might need to ask a server for access. read more

There are a variety of sides of which the garlic toast and roasted vegetables are the highlights. A choice of spicy sauces is what sets this food apart. A Coke Freestyle machine offers dozens of soft drink options. We have been twice and would include chicken skewers in any future orders. The option to dine in and they bring your food to the table once you've ordered is fantastic. Food was incredible. Love the options for sides and the Peri-Peri chicken Caesar wrap was delicious! I was not overly impressed at my first trip to Nando's. I went with the skewers plate, of which I chose to go with a lemon herb and a medium hot Peri-Peri sauce skewer. Along with this, I ordered a Caesar salad and spicy rice. The Caesar salad dressing had almost no flavor. There was evidence that there was a dressing on the greens but hardly any flavor to it. The spicy rice was nice but nothing to write home about. I will say that I got great customer service from the time I ordered the time I left, as there seemed to be someone coming by every 5 to 7 minutes just checking on me and to see if I needed anything else. read more

The order was right on time, but I would suggest asking for fresh fries because it tasted like half of them were great and the other half were old and chewy. It's still super busy because I think Edmonton just needed a Portuguese chicken place and the demand is crazy, but if you get it on off hours, you'll be happy. Never going back. I've been to this place 4 times since it opened. The chicken was always good, orders weren't incorrect and quite fast. However that is nothing compared to all of the problems with this place. Including my final visit which made me sick from old coleslaw. My husband took a small bite of it and pushed it away choking it down saying " do not finish that". It was actually turned and sour. But since the 'staff' don't come to check on you or even clear your plates there was no use. I went up to try and tell someone and they ignored me because I wasn't trying to order or pay. Love the staff dragging their feet and chatting as they walk by all of us and roll their eyes as well. I've learned my lesson. This place is not worth it. read more

Okay so the chicken deserves a 5. And I'm not disputing that. However we just ate here tonight and I was so not impressed with the experience. We had eaten at the original Southside location about 4 months ago, and it was a nice experience. I tried Nandos because a coworker got me a gift card. There was still some left, and I thought I would use it up tonight. Our cashier had no idea how to use the gift card and kept asking the exact amount... which we had no idea as we last used months ago. She went and got the manager, turns out they have "old" and "new" gift cards. So we had to wait while he transferred the balance to the new one. Next I ordered a bottled water, nope. Turns out they had none. So I took a Vitamin Water. Went to go wash my hands after ordering, the washroom was unkept and unfinished- there was a piece of cardboard on the wall where the mirror should've been. Got back to our table- our order came- wrong chicken platter. Had to point out to the server who brought back our order in a minute. Spent our meal listening to the greeter explain over and over how people need to go up, bring the menus, order, and where the plates and sauces are. The serving experience is an odd setup when dining out and the only benefit I can see to it is that people aren't skipping out on cheques. Chicken was hot, fresh and perfection. Side of pineapple grilled and mashed potatoes were yummy but cool. Casa salad was full of black, half dead leaves and should not have been brought to our table. All in all, I need to figure out how to make this chicken at home so we don't have to go out here. I would suggest South location. read more

This location isn't as good as the original south side one but the food is the same quality so I'll be back for convenience. It feels much more like a fast food take out location since the order desk is right at the front doors. Because it's busy theres usually people loitering near the entrance either to wait for a table or wait for take out. The south side location seems more like a restaurant because you're greeted by a host and taken to take table. If you're there for take out you still need to go to the counter which is situated in the middle of the restaurant and away from the doors. They say that first impressions go a long way and the first impression you get isnt a good one here. Now the food is the same high quality chicken and side dishes so you can see the franchise recipes and being taught correctly. The sauces are all the same and available for you to bring to your table. Remember to get your flatware, cutlery and napkins at the same time. For 2 people I usually get the half chicken with two sides combo. Piri Piri vegetables and piri Piri fries are the go to choices but the cilantro/parsley salad is a close third. I usually just get the lemon herb on the chicken and dip into the sauce of my choosing instead of getting them the add the sauce to the chicken on the grill. Also I find that the sauces lean towards the salty side but you can't really do much about that except put less sauce on. I would also strongly urge anyone to try the natas which is a Portuguese egg tart. It's a great way to finish off the meal! read more

We went here for the first time about a week ago. It was a pretty slow night and there were a few tables with families so we expected good, fast service. We were immediately seated by a friendly hostess and she explained how things worked as this was our first time here. We ordered the variety share platter with casa salad, and peri-peri potato wedges as our sides. We also ordered two soda's and maybe I don't get out enough but holy - coolest self serve pop machine EVER! I chuckled when I read they had over 100 flavors of pop but they really do. Crazy. Our meal took longer to get than I expected. Even our waitress expressed that it was taking too long. Considering how slow the restaurant was I was expecting it a lot faster but to no avail. We patiently waited and watched the (annoying) kids running back and forth refilling their soda's every 5 minutes. Our food finally came and the chicken was really good. Juicy, flavorful, and portions generous for 2 people. Where this meal fell flat was with the sides. Even though it was a share platter for 2, the sides were only enough for one person. Staff were friendly. Price I believe was reasonable for the quality of the food. Will go again and try some other dishes - hopefully they are not so cheap on the sides. read more

Heard only good stuff about Nando's, so we tried it today. We got our table and the girl who seated us explained everything. It took a while for us to choose something, so we got asked if we had any more questions. We finally ordered each a 1/4 chicken with mashed potatoes and casa salad. You got to get your cutlery, drinks (you get a real glass!), salad dressing and pepper. We took the classic Nando's dressing and Olive oil with Balsamic vinegar. The drinks are in a machine that reminds me of a star trek replicator. Lots of different flavours to choose from (Coca Cola products). The dressing is good, I stuck to oil and vinegar - delicious! The chicken was awesome, no need to put any spices on it. Next time we'll try it plain, the taste of the marinade should be enough. The potatoes were yummy and juicy, no need for gravy (which they don't have). Service was great, very friendly and fast. We'll be back for sure. We saw a lot of stuff on other tables that we want to try too. The only thing I didn't like was that I had to ask how to lock the washroom door. That is a bit weird. You have to push a little button that looks like a loose screw. read more

For a chicken place you'd think they would know how to properly cook chicken. Both mine & the wife's were really dry & considering it's suppose to be be marinated for 24 hrs, really light on flavor. After that they give you your glass to go fill up with your beverage & the "server" brings you your food. There's no cutlery or sauces on the table, you have to grab all that when you order, but of course they didn't tell us that.
