My son, a chicken sandwich aficionado, had heard Nandos had the best chicken sandwich in the DMV, so we gave it a try. I got their roasted chicken and it was on point. Flavorful and moist. My son thought his chicken was very good, though ultimately he did not find the sandwich worthy of "best in the DMV"- mainly because he was disappointed in the sauce on it. He said next time he will just get the chicken. Their fries were very good. And much to my surprise their lemonade is phenomenal. Wish I could have taken it home by the gallon. read more

Randomly stopped by here. Ordered more than we needed. When you enter they will ask you if it's for take out or dine in. They will take you to the table and provide utensils. You will need to scan the QR code and order food from your phone. You will also be paying through the phone. Only time you will see the servers is when they seat you, provide menu, drinks and food. The chicken for all their dishes is very tender. You can order it with the sauce you want and they also have sauce glass bottles on the side. Sangria was pretty good. Delicious..... all the chicken I've tried has been sooo good. I have tried a few diff dishes, and I had the ancient grains bowl this last time, and it did NOT let me down. I love halloumi and was worried that I'd miss it; I thought the whole nuts were a bad call when I first saw them--and I was WRONG. The nuts were perfect, a great counterbalance of flavors. The poppyseed dressing was light and fresh! Onions not too strong at all! Perfect proportions! The grains mix wonderfully and do not make it too heavy. Wow. And to finish off with the Naughty Natas always makes me super happy. Perfect little custardy, flaky joy. The garlic bread hits the spot, and I might just order my own add-on side of it next time so I stop stealing bites. I tried the Dole Whip for the first time, and it was a tad too sweet for me. The two stars are for the manager who took my to go order, he was pleasant and helpful, if only he was present during my food preparation and when I returned to pick up. Tonight I learned a very good lesson, don't trust food prep or the nicely sealed bag that claim that your order in the bag is correct. I ordered 12 wings for my son and only got 6. My receipt shows that I paid for twelve as well as the receipt that was sealed to the bag. If only I lived closer I would have driven back to the restaurant but since I don't I attempted to call, the recording claims that you can speak to someone over the phone however that doesn't seem to be true; I held for 10+ minutes before I got a recording to leave a message or call back. So I left a message, now I wonder if I will get a call back? Needless to say Nando Peri Peri has lost a customer, I will never go there again, I feel like I was purposely taken advantage of; you show case great customer service to take my order, the prices are already high, and then you short my order, and seal it to trick me into believing it's correct and when I call you don't even pick up, very poor service. read more

Today, November 18, 2017, is the grand opening of Nando's Peri-Peri at Reston. 100% of the restaurant's earnings went towards SLHS band and HHS band (split 50/50). Since it was nearby, I decided to go there with my family! The SLHS mascot was there (seahawk) and so were members of each band. The wait was around 20 minutes for a table. Once we placed our order, we got seated at table 12, a corner booth towards the entrance. While I was waiting, I was intrigued by the Afro-Portuguese modern design of the restaurant. It was clean, given it was their first day in operation, the seats were comfy, the air conditioning wasn't absurdly cold, and the staff were very accommodating. I really love the concept of paying for food beforehand, it gets rid of that awkwardness after every meal just waiting for the bill. The roof décor and light fixtures had an African influence on a contemporary design. The contrast of colors, like sea blue and golden yellow, made the atmosphere more casual and friendlier while showing that they are a professional restaurant. The service is a different story. We arrived for dinner and placed our order. It was fine. Once we got to table 12, we began to wait. And wait. And wait. We had been waiting for more than half an hour for our food. People who came after us got their food and we're heading out the door at that point. The staff came up with some interesting excuses, like "Oh. One of our ovens shut down." "We make our chicken in separate ovens." and "All chicken has been delayed due to some issues."One employee was very caring and attended to us personally to make sure that we got our food. The food was spectacular! The chicken was moist and the outside was crisp and juicy at the same time! The lemon and herb flavor seeped through the chicken so that every morsel of chicken is flavored. The hummus with pita was average, but the Peri-Peri drizzle sauce that come with it took it to a whole other level of flavor and spice! The Peri-Peri drizzle gave it a much needed kick of flavor! The garlic bread side was one of the best ones I've ever had. It was buttery with garlic and herbs and was crisped to perfection. The pita met my expectations but didn't make itself as prominent of a dish as the others. Due to the mess up previously mentioned, the manager, I think, gave us two meal vouchers for their trouble with our order. She was the only one to give us the straight truth as to what happened. Apparently, our order was lost and never made. I was going to give this restaurant two stars, but the care that some of the employees gave to us, the customers, really mattered in my experience at the restaurant. Besides good eats, the atmosphere and customer service are also spots I take into deep consideration when writing my reviews. The customer service shown here today sucked, but those two employees, the one caring to us personally and the one telling us the truth, really caught my attention and redeemed a star for their outstanding service. I love this restaurant, no doubt, but it can be better. Would I eat here again? Yes! Is it great for a family dinners? Definitely yes! How about with friends? Of course! What chicken would I prefer? For now, I prefer the lemon and herb chicken flavor! What sauce would I eat with it? None, it is good by itself (the chicken). UPDATE: Today, November 20, 2017, I was at school and people passed out the same vouchers. The vouchers we received were given to everyone there, so it lost its specialty. Now I realize I was duped by the staff. Their actions were great, but their intentions seem to be for the wrong reason. They aren't truly sorry. The got our money and forgot our order. First time to visit this location. To be fair, it's only been open about three weeks. I ordered the "first timers" menu which was chicken mango sauce (I.e., one level above "no spice at all"), and two sides (I.e., Portuguese rice and cold slaw). Chicken was juicy and flavorful with minimal heat. Rice was tasty; cold slaw was totally bland, which worked well with the chicken. Tried to get a Portuguese beet but was told they had none, so ordered Sangria, which was good, but more costly than the beer. Had the Portuguese tart for dessert and it was OK. Tried to get espresso but was told that the espresso machine was not working. All in all, interesting experience and I plan to return; but, will wait a month or so and hope that the startup growing pains have been overcome. Restaurant Operational Process: Upon arrival at the restaurant, greeted by staff. Given menu, which was explained and assigned a table. After deciding what to order, return to cashier to place order, provide assigned table number and pay for order. Return to assigned table and order is delivered. I've enjoyed the peri-peri bowl for a while but after my last two visits, I'm done. The first, the chicken was no longer tenders but breast. Disappointing but acceptable. The portion size though is a half breast, which are small to begin with. Previously, it was four or so tenders. I didn't go back for a few months. I decided to give it another shot. My order sat in the window longer than it should've. When I got it, the server went to get utensils since there were none on the counter. They disappeared and after a few minutes I found there were two still available - server never returned. By this point the food was lukewarm. I love Nando's because they have a lot of healthier options on their menu compared to other fast food/fast casual restaurants. Amy helped us during our visit to Nando's and she provided excellent customer service. She was so welcoming and made my experience here great. Like other Nando's locations, you are seated by a host before placing your order at the counter. The food arrived quickly to our table and was hot and fresh. There are a variety of delicious sauces, as well as napkins and silverware located centrally in the dining room. The bathrooms were also clean and tidy. It's interesting how I hardly order chicken when I dine out and it's not my protein of choice when I fill out my meal for weddings, but I want to go to Nando's to eat chicken! I like their flame-grilled chicken with any of their sauces. I don't think there is one sauce that I do not like here. Notable items are the chicken livers, portobello mushroom and halloumi wrap, cauliflower butternut and halloumi salad, macho peas, peri peri wings, peri peri chicken bowl, and peri peri nuts. Don't believe me, try for yourself! Service here is also very good. The food can take some time to come out. My girlfriend and I went here last night. We have been a few times in the past and have always gotten good service. However, last night we had a little bit of a disappointing experience, as the wings were very low quality and not at all what we have seen in the past. When we told the staff about our issue, we were just told that "we're remaking them, like I already said". A simple apology would have resolved things fine. I'd give Nando's 3.5 stars. The food is pretty good, but given that it's an Americanized chain, it's hard to call it authentic. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with fries and mashed potatoes. The chicken tasted good, but I wish it had slightly more flavor and sauce. The mashed potatoes tasted great. The fries were a little dry and probably would've benefited from the Peri-Peri Mayo that was offered, but that would've been an additional $1. Can't tell you how excited I am for a Nando's to be even closer to me even though it beats the other location by 5 minutes..still closer! Located at the new constructed area behind Chick fil A and Chipotle. My first time was slightly disappointing. This location is still pretty new so I'm sure they are still learning. For one of my chicken breast (got the 1/2) I actually had to reheat it because it was still pink. I didn't want to risk it so I put it in the microwave for a few minutes. Macho peas need a little more flavoring as well, those are my favorite sides at other locations but this one needed more seasoning. They were also a bit skimp on the sides of peas and coleslaw. My fiance liked his wings but wish they had more flavor. Overall, this place has potential but the reoccurring problem is flavor and making sure chicken is not pink! It is a bit pricey at $13 for 1/2 chicken with sides but I think it's worth it especially if its good. This location needs some help however. read more

Placed an online order for the office and grabbed food here last week and was not disappointed. I can't tell you enough about how much I enjoy some Nando's and how excited I am this place is so close to work...while on the pricier side it's delicious and other than one bad experience (at this restaurant in particular while dining in) I've never been disappointed. The order was ready for pick-up when I arrived and I was able to grab some extra sauces and be in and out in less than 4 minutes. My only complaint is the online ordering is a bit wonky at times and I never received an email confirmation with my order. I'm a bit of a worrier so I printed my order confirmation and brought it with me, but the employees working the online pick-up never asked and my food was ready so it looks like it's working; I was just concerned with no email confirmation that the order had went through. read more

My husband ordered the Peri Peri bowl (hot). It was visually appealing and tasted amazing! There was quite the variety of flavors, but the chicken was not as spicy as we would have liked. The description made it sound alot spicier than it was. I ordered the boneless chicken breast (medium) and one side (mashed potatoes). It was simple and what was expected, but nothing special. The kids meal options are great as they come with a drink OR unlimited Dole whip. My daughter ordered the grilled cheese but refused to eat it because the bread was soggy and the cheese in the middle wasnt even melted. But the Dole whip made the trip worth it anyways for her. This location is perfect for a casual date or family dinner night! We'll definitely be back (maybe without the kids as my daughter says the "kids food is bad"). read more

Nando's in Reston is definitely a good place to visit if your having a peri-peri craving. These guys know how to do chicken right. I give them 4 stars and here's why: 1) The food quality is great. I've been coming to this location for 2 years and they always serve their dine-in food hot off the grill and the sides are piping hot. I love that. Plus the time to receive your food is 10-15 mins. That's good too and they usually serve on the 10 min mark which is great. 2) The food taste is great too. I love their Portuguese Rice and their seasonal sides. I'm a fan. The spice level for me for the sides are great too. I love spice but not too much. For me it's flavor, not heat, and Nando's sides deliver a small punch which satisfies my American palate as "not too hot" but "spicy enough for me to smile." 3) The service is good. I've always been greeted, seated fine with no issues. The order process is easy and the expo, cook, and line people are always friendly. When I try to clean up they always tell me to stop and I feel bashful every time because I wanna help ... but they are soooo nice. 4) The location and ambiance is good too. Since they don't have any soup on the menu, I opted for the mashed peas, garlic bread and kale salad along with a plethora of proprietary sauces. Here are my thoughts on the 5 sauces: 1) Lemon & Herb Peri-Peri Sauce - Lemony goodness. Must try! 2) Hot Peri-Peri Sauce - Pleasing to my palate 3) Wild Herb Peri-Peri Sauce - Downright amazing! 4) Peri-peri visa - Lots of heat & yes it made me sweat. 5) EVOO - Just good ol' olive oil. This Nando's is comparable to the one in the Mosaic District. I came around lunch time, where it was pretty crowded but not intolerably so (we didn't have to wait for a table). Service wasn't super fast but they were all very pleasant and helpful. We couldn't find a bottle of a sauce we wanted so a staff member brought us one, which was really nice. I got the chicken pita with chips as my side. I really liked it, and it was just light enough for a lunch. I didn't feel overly full like I would have had I eaten half a chicken. Nando's is easy for a work lunch because it's more formal than fast food but takes way less time than your typical sit down restaurant. We decided to go a little crazy with our order so we could try it out. We ordered: - 1/4 Chicken Leg w/ 2 sides - Chicken Skewers w/ 2 sides and a drink - fries - garlic sticks The service was really challenging. Here are the problems I encountered: 1. I attempted to call in my order. I called 5x and it rang through each time. 2. I then attempted to order online from my laptop, but the website could not verify my cart 3. Finally I was able to place my order using the web browser on my phone 4. I ordered curbside pickup. There were not directions or clear signage about what to do once I arrived at the restaurant. I waited for 10 mins in my car and then went in. My food was waiting on a shelf for Uber drivers 5. I had ordered a lemonade, but it wasn't included. I asked the person at the register and she said that the lemonade wasn't on my receipt... but it was. Once I pointed that out, she got the lemonade for me 6. I arrived home, and several of my sides were missing from the order. I tried to call the restaurant back, but of course no one picked up. Not happy, and they use a sticker to close the bags so that the person picking it up doesn't open it. They all had our names on them so it wasn't accidental swap. Came in here during lunch since it's conveniently located in the plaza where I work. My colleagues typically order online for pick-up to save time during the lunch rush. Though I dined-in at around 11:30ish on a weekday & my food arrived fairly quickly, I was out of there within 30 mins. The service is great; when you walk in you're greeted by staff & they direct you where/how to place your order. I found this helpful since they have designated tables. The food was delicious!! I ordered medium, 1/2 lb chicken w a side of rice & salad.... heavenly & big enough to share between 2 people. I've also had their lemon-herb chicken in the past & honestly, you can't go wrong with either one, the lemon-herb is a better option if you don't like spicy food. Here is my overall review of this place- Visits: 10+ What have I tried: Wings, Garlic Bread, Chicken, Livers, Skewers, Fries, Breast Wrap, Macho Peas, Rice, Mashed Potato and all the sauces. Pros: Good Chicken, wide variety of foods, great service. Con: Price- The taste makes up for the price, but its still kind of high for a whole chicken. Overall: Very nice spot and the atmosphere is dope. When I first went here I was token back by how the set up was, but I love it now. Tip: Get the chicken plain and add your own sauce. Nando's is one of the best chicken joints around. The wings are small but pack a punch when it comes to flavor. They have this delicious mayonnaise called Perinaise (or something like that) and not only does it set of the smokey flavors of the meat but it's not bad with the fries. I also love their garlic bread and mashed potatoes. The Dole Whip is a fantastic desert option to top it all off. 4/5 Stars, would Nando's again. read more
