Peri-peri chicken was juicy, tender, flavorful. Last time I had any peri-peri chicken was in Fullerton California. However, that shop closed a little while after Covid restrictions were lifted. My husband & I shared a plate of chicken & sides of rice & fries. Service was excellent for a fast casual restaurant. The waitress checked in on us several times & filled our water glasses frequently. I went with hot on the chicken and loved the flavor. Would have liked it to be a little hotter but the chicken was still prime. Dip those fries in the peri peri sauce for some extra flavor. Disclaimer: this is not a fair judgement of the place as a chicken restaurant because I did not try the chicken. I don't eat chicken but wanted to get in on the peri peri action so I came and got the avocado & roasted pepper bowl. I got the bowl, had a few bites and thought it was very plain, like something was missing, and then realized it was un-sauced, so I grabbed a bottle of medium sauce from the counter and gave the bowl a generous drizzle. After that it was much better (the sauce is good!) and felt like a proper dish, but still nothing special. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't recommend coming here just to get this - there are better veg dishes around the neighbourhood to spend $15 on. Maybe other vegetarian menu items offer more excitement. I ordered a Nando's Kiss for dessert and it was, disappointingly, nothing like the menu description. The online menu describes it as "Dark chocolate ice cream centered in milk chocolate ice cream rolled in shaved milk chocolate". What I got was a dome of regular chocolate ice cream with a bit of strawberry or raspberry sauce in the middle, coated in a thin layer of dark chocolate. See also my photo and compare with the photo on the online menu. Tasty enough, but it distinctly had the character of something that you get in the frozen novelty aisle at the grocery store. You order and pay at the counter here, and if you're eating in they assign you a table and bring your food to you when it's ready. Service was very good - my food was ready quickly and the staff were all very friendly. Overall a very average experience. I wouldn't complain about having to eat here for example if friends wanted to (and I'd even be interested to try different items off the menu to see if I just made unlucky choices), but if the choices I made were representative of the overall offerings, I feel no need to go back myself. read more

Nando's is Nando's. It's a chain of 1200 restaurants headquartered in Johannesburg. It serves Portuguese grilled chicken with Mozambican peri-peri sauce. This Nando's was efficient, inexpensive and tasty. And that is a very good combo when you're looking for a quick, inexpensive meal. Should you drive across town to eat here? Nope. Nando's only exists in a couple states in the US, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there was a Nando's in Vancouver. I've bought their sauce from a local supermarket and enjoyed it and after seeing Nando's featured on Keith's Eat the Menu on Youtube, I was excited to try it out. We ordered take-out since there was no dine-in at the time and it was delicious! The chicken was juicy and saucy, just like the way I like it, and it had a nice char on it. I wasn't too big of a fan of the coleslaw, but it wasn't a deal breaker. If Nando's ever opens up a location in my local area, I'd probably be a repeat customer. read more

Have heard so much about Nandos over the years but we don't have them all over the US so was excited to see one so close to my hotel and naturally had to get it. I got the double leg and the chicken was cooked spectacularly well, nicely marinated, a fantastic flavor from the char and overall near perfect. My biggest qualm was with the sauce. It was just way too tangy and vinegary. I usually really love vinegar based sauces, but their main function is to cut through richness and spice; the Nando's Hot was neither rich nor spicy which then basically made it just mouthfuls of sharp vinegar. I really wanted to love this but ironically the sauce is what broke it for me. The peri fries are outstanding and the spiced rice was the perfect bed on which to lay the chicken and paired well together. Overall I guess the Nando's sauce just isn't my thing, but for those who love the sharpness of distilled white vinegar, go for it. Pro Tip: If you're getting this to go, hop in to Fritz next door and get a side of their garlic sauce; it pairs fantastically well with the chicken and the peri fries and brings that richness to balance the tang. read more

Ordered whole wings and 3 orders of the double leg with 2 sides. We got peri peri fries and Ceasars for our sides and got the lemon garlic for sauce and halloumi cheese. The fries were delicious, but thank goodness we had an air fryer bc by the time it came here, it was soggy. The Ceasars salad was good, they gave enough sauce but they have us real garlic bread as croutons but they were so underwhelming, we threw it in the garbage. The whole wings were disappointing as these whole wings were so small (compared to other nandos I've ordered from) and dry. The chicken legs were better due to it being more moist, however all the chicken, including the whole wings were way too charred for out entire family's liking. It was so chard that it was bitter!! FRAUD and dishonesty at the cashier: I ordered the 1/4 chicken with one side. The cashier insisted that a drink is part of the meal. However, on the ordering screen, extra charges were made and the price was significantly higher. ***I asked the cashier TWICE whether the drink was required and part of the combo before paying. She twice confirmed.*** Later, another customer orders the SAME combo but was not required to add a drink. I then asked another staff whether the drink was required and was told no. I then requested a refund, which the other staff - who were friendly - promptly gave. It's very disheartening for the cashier to take advantage of first-time customers (that bottled drink added +20% to my bill)! She also did not apologize despite being right next to the other staff when I politely explained the situation. I felt something was off during the ordering and asked her TWICE to confirm it--both of which the cashier lied about (it was no accident). The bullying completely sullied the occasion. This is different than a complaint about food or anything else. This was a compromise of basic morality. Nando's on Davie was extremely unethical. read more

I asked how much hotter the hot was from the medium and the cashier said that it was extremely hotter. He asked if I wanted some hot peri-peri sauce on the side and I was super happy about that. The marinated chicken was good and I can understand why people love it so much. Nando's so hyped up around different areas of the world that when we saw a location close to us we just had to try it. There was just nothing special from the seasoning, chicken, to fries. I wasn't impressed. I can now say I tried it but would probably not come back. I got the 1/4 CHICKEN - LEG (EXTRA HOT) with two sides. For my sides, I got the GARLIC MASHED POTATOES AND PERI PERI FRIES. I'm glad they had addition sauce on the table so that I could add more to my chicken and dip my fries. They make their mashed potatoes with red potatoes so the consistency isn't as creamy; it's a little waxier. My friends shared an entree thinking it was going to be a lot bigger only soon to discover it is not a sharing portion. It does taste healthier than the typical chicken fast food place but honesty I would rather go with the fried chicken. read more

I'm completely serious when I say a visit to Nando's was first on our list after we checked into our Vancouver hotel. This chain has not yet spread to the West Coast of the United States, so for us, this was basically a tourist attraction. Four of us each ordered a meal and our total cost came to about $40, which sounds reasonable, but we weren't too impressed with the size of each entree. For example, I ordered the Leg/Thigh with coleslaw as my side item, which came to around $9. The portion of chicken wasn't near as meaty as I thought it would be, leaving my plate looking pretty bare. The flavor of the chicken itself however was delectable! Loved the Medium spicy sauce which had a perfect kick and that true grill taste. The meat was super tender and you could taste the savory marinade throughout since they soak it for 24 hours and go one step further by basting it. The side of coleslaw paired well - crisp and fresh, cooling down the mild after-burn of the spicy sauce. They have a large selection of sides to choose from including potato wedges, cooked veggies, rice, and more. Very friendly service as well with organized operations. Just grab menus at the front, find a seat and then head to the counter when ready to order. Takeout orders also moved along pretty quickly as customers constantly came in for pickups. I first discovered Nando's PERi-PERi chicken in South Africa back in 1996 and I thought it was fantastic being some of the best chicken I had ever eaten and I most recently got it again in 2018 at the National Harbor, MD location. Unfortunately while the chicken was still good this location seemed much less nice as they have less sauce options, side item options and menu selection items. Most disappointing is they had fewer of the delicious PERi-PERi sauce options to choose from. The service could also use some improvement and the interior could use a good cleaning. Overall this is still a great place to eat but they need to catch up with the National Harbor, MD location and definitely need to add locations in New Orleans and Nashville ASAP. read more

My first time trying Nando's and I have to say it was delicious. The chicken was super flavorful and juicy. I could taste that the chicken had touched flames and the smoky flavor was present. I especially enjoyed the spicy garlic sauce and thought that was the best sauce they had. I wish there was a Nando's in california to get some delicious quality grilled chicken. I would say that it is slightly overpriced for what you get though. But it would not stop me from going back in I was in the area. read more
