Servers are super nice food is amazing. Love the paint and all the decorations good seating too. I highly suggest coming here. Amazing service doesn't take long for food to come. I got the grilled cheese personally it's slightly wet oily melted cheese and amazing I suggest coming to this establishment. My sister got a small cheeseburger with chili, and we shared chili cheese fries. The chili cheese fries were amazing and the chili had an excellent taste. And her cheeseburger was good, patty was seasoned, and the lettuce was fresh. The waiters were extremely nice, and on top of everything. Our drinks were refilled consistently, the cherry-lemon sundrop was fresh, and had fresh cherries and lemon. The sweet tea is perfectly sweet too.

Ultimate Grilled Cheeseburger ridiculousness.

Passing through on my way back home to Atlanta when my co-pilot/co-worker guided 4 of us in here for lunch. First impressions may give you reasons to be nervous about your choice in dining. However, the parking lot (albeit potholed) was fairly crowded with other patrons leading us to believe it may be worth the gamble. If you're traveling for business, leave the sport-coat in the car, as this is the sort of place that favors Carhartt. I saw no signs of cleanliness issues as stated in prior negative reviews, but could see how someone may percieve it that way if you're a little too highbrow for what is now referred to as a "dive". I'm sure ole Tommy never intended for this place to earn that name, but let's face it, the place has a little wear and tear. The vinyl seats are ripped, the menus are tattered and worn like your granny's bible, and the entire joint probably hasn't seen any upgrades in quite some time. The menu was worth a few chuckles with options like; Livermush Sandwich, Tater Babies and Weiner's sold individually for .99 each. And you can't be a legit family establishment without the claw game machine. This one is loaded with knock-off Tervis Tumblers stuffed with real cash (no, seriously). But what makes this place really great and worth the review, is it seems like it's been a part of the community for some time. The sort of small town place where people come as a tradition, like I remember as a kid. And if I had Tommy's home phone number, I'd call him myself (like we did back around the time this place was probably established) and tell him: that was a dam fine burger! Maybe even top 5 for me. Putting a burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches may not help your cholesterol levels, but it is unique and delicious. And the young gIrl who served us was excellent. Pleasant, inviting and always smiling. And lastly, I appreciate you serving classic, American drive-in grub at prices that are almost stupidly low. I'm glad we made the stop.

Small cheeseburger was huge in my opinion

I was VERY skeptical because of the other recent reviews. I got the lemon drop soda - BIG NOPE for me. It was just soda. The milkshakes were definitely and my bf got the grilled cheese double burger ? Anyway, it was very good. He loved it. I loved it. If I went again I would not get the soda or kids hotdog

Tommy's understands what's most important about family restaurants. They serve tasty, fresh food. They are kind and courteous with their service. Some other similar restaurants in the area don't do those things well. We love Tommy's cheeseburgers, the poor girl (burger patties on sub roll), the thick Bologna and much more. Tommy's is a must-visit in Gaston County.

Chili cheese burger w/fries

Fresh burger, homemade chili, fresh cut fries. What's not to like? Really solid food and Cherry Lemon Sundrop. I'll be back.

I absolutely enjoyed our Sunday Brunch here!!!!…read more First let me say it's an old movie they turned into a restaurant. Just love it. If you get asked if you want to sit downstairs or upstairs I would totally say upstairs. The ambiance and views up there is so nice. Certain seats you can see right down into the kitchen and other seats give a great view to a movie screen which movies are playing. Love it! The service was great. Very attentive and super friendly. Started the meal with some drinks of course, so cute the drinks named after famous movies. Got the cheesy bread, this is a must please don't go and NOT order this. I could have just ate a plate of these and been satisfied. The bread was so good and packed with oozed out cheese! I went with two what they call first plates for my meal..the meatballs with polenta and fried green tomatoes! The meatballs were good, I enjoyed the polenta, was creamy and had good flavor. The fried green tomatoes, BOMB. They were seasoned and fried perfectly. Then came with charred corn which was soooo good and topped with smoked pork belly! Soon and the plate sat in front of me you could smell the smoke, killer dish! Rest of the table had, a burger, the big short, a omelette stuffed with short ribs and topped with kimchi, and charbroiled chicken with brown rice, pesto and blistered tomatoes. Everything was very good. On top of the fried green tomatoe dish, I also loved the short rib omelette. The short ribs were so good! Sweet, smokey with Asian seasoning. Stuffed in an egg, yea can't go wrong! The restaurant is in Gastonia a little drive from Charlotte, but I would make that drive again and again, spot is that good.

Fun to see the old theater and the kids with us enjoyed looking around. The music was a little loud, but we did let the server know and they did turn it down for us. We had a group 8. The food was good, maybe a little small in portions. We almost all ordered the crab cake Benedict and the ham Benedict. We also ordered the cheesecake, the crème brûlée and the coconut cake. They were all really good, but I would note the crème brûlée had I believe tea in it? It wasn't just a traditional flavor but it was delicious! I do want to comment on experience. I was with my 8 month old son, who can't eat runny eggs. I ordered the crab cake Benedict and I asked to swap the poached egg to scrambled egg so I could share with my son. The server let me know he was going to check with the chef. He came back right before the plate was dropped off and said "The chef will not be doing that substitution for you". I acknowledge this is an abnormal substitution for eggs Benedict, but I was surprised and disappointed that the chef couldn't make this simple accommodation.

The whiting, deserving of an unequivocal five stars, showcased culinary prowess with a perfect fusion of seasoning and expert frying. A dish that resonates with aficionados of impeccably prepared, succulent fish. Delving into the wings, ordered with a mild flavor, proved to be a delectable experience in its own right. However, I dare say, a tad more crispiness would elevate them to unparalleled heights. As for the accompanying fries, they adhered to the archetype of standard restaurant fare, bereft of seasoning. A polite word of advice: summon the shakers of salt and pepper to awaken these unassuming spuds.
