There are, for example, things like white shirts costing over £150 but White Bicycle seems, nevertheless, to have a good number of regular customers or at least, the stock sells out quickly as I discovered when I asked about a very cool black linen dress the woman in the shop was wearing, when she told me that those dresses had sold out but there would be new stock from the same designer the following week. This shop is quite variable, sometimes there is good stuff, sometimes not, it just depends when you happen to be there and what you are looking for. There are often excellent knock down price sales though, so if you wanted a simple pair of good quality classic trousers for instance this could be a good place to look. If you have the time and the cash a quiet, discerning shop like this can certainly give hectic city centre shopping a run for its money.

It's just too expensive for me to buy clothes for my own two kids there as they tend to rip, stain and generally ruin most things within a week. So if you A) need to buy a baby gift or B) have children who can be trusted to wear beautiful things, Pumpkin Pie is for you. It is filled with the cutest baby clothes and blankies, little soft teddies and clothes for older kids, up to the age of about 10. If you're into your labels you'll recognise Ducky Beau (my personal fave for little boys), Me Too and Lego. There are other ranges of similar price and style. Prices are high, but these are high end clothes for nippers. A t shirt will be around £25 and a dress about £45 but as with most high end shops, the sale is the time to shop. Time it right and you'll get a good choice of reduced stuff.

There were little pumps and nice silver courts but at a whopping £100+ price tag why would you not just go somewhere like Topshop or Debenhams? I had a look at their sale and the cute little summer shoes are adorable but the reductions in price are not massive enough for my liking plus they don't really do bigger sizes or wider shoes. They all look quite dainty but the sale bought the prices down from £!00+ to £40+ - still to expensive for my liking. I'm sure there are many ladies with small feet who treat themselves to shoes from here often but personally I don't think we should be paying over the odds for items when similar items can be found elsewhere for cheaper - I guess i'm just very sensible with my money. In most of the other shops in this swish little enclave, I can usually justify a purchase but Cinderella's Slipper is so expensive that in makes me feel that, in true Cinderella style, I won't go to the ball. Not in a pair of these shoes anyway. These shoes are exquisite but are all over £200. Yikes. Having said that, they are all handmade so if you like the finer things in life and have a big big clothes budget, you'll love everything here. All of the leathers and suedes are of the finest quality and one glance at any pair tells you just how exclusive they are. The shop itself is beautiful too, quite opulent with a huge gilt mirror propped against the wall. The good news is that they also stock Wolford tights which every fashionista knows are a winter essential. These are a much more affordable £30 ish. Top dollar for tights I know, but every Cinderella needs her luxuries.

The shop has several rails filled with a beautiful range of tops, skirts, trousers and cardigans. They didn't have the dress in my size and it was a bit on the dear side for me but the sale rail was good and there were some lovely little boleros reduced from £60 to £15 - a big saving. It's a grown up shop, I'm still pulling on ripped jeans and a t-shirt but when I do decided to grow up and buy some nice pieces I will visit this shop again. Nice pieces presented beautifully and a friendly shop assistant. Go see.

There's nothing worse than going into a shop where you are appraised, and dismissed by the staff before you have even looked at a price tag. The great news is that that just won't happen in Aviva. You'll find a small but perfectly formed collection of dresses, trousers and tops and some jewellery to go with them. If you know Holywood, you'll already know that prices are on the high side - around £250 for a pretty coat and £80 for a pair of trousers. A bit out of my usual price range but for a special occasion, it's well worth a splurge on pieces from Nougat and Part Two. A word of advice which I learned the hard way. The sale is when you will find great bargains which you'll have in your wardrobe for years, like the dress I bought last year reduced from £125 to £35. My advice is when you see a bargain buy it. I saw a beautiful coat in the summer sale at 50% off. It was glorious, with huge big pale flowers all over it and looked like £500 pounds worth of prettiness. Of course I took a gamble and held off, hoping it may be reduced further. Big mistake, a few days later it was gone. Sale shopping really is all about timing!

So, yeah, the prices. Ouch. But then this places sells Custo and Papillon Bleu (and bizarrely kids Canterberry tracksuits) and even OMG, Meghan Fabulous. The only place in Northern Ireland I have ever seen Meghan Fabulous is Chocolat. If you don't know this label, it's also sold in Harvey Nicks and Harrods, so that's how high end we're talking. Take a rich and patient man to Chocolat with you and you're sorted.

It is overflowing with expensive jewellery (oooh, it was lovely), models of aeroplanes and cars, bronze ornaments made by some German company, those Granny handbags which almost resemble some weird tapestry, and animal ornaments and figurines. I spotted an unusual beanie ornament type thing, with a cat on it (yes, I know, I'm useless at explaining things), which hugely resembled our own wee puss. I had to do a double take. The shop keeper was in deep conversation with an elderly man about some antique he owned, so we didn't get a chance to natter with him. Seriously this shop stocks jewellery by the same designer and if you want it be prepared to pay for it - over £100 for some pieces. I would. This is one of those shops that keeps thinks like tapestry bags with dogs faces on them - I never really know who would buy these, I certainly wouldn't. There are other cool things like funky shopping trolley things that you usually see in tartan and being pulled by an elderly lady - this gives that bag a new twist with a cool look to it. One other thing really took my fancy and that was the jewels for dogs - bling! bling! silver and diamante collars and funky little, expensive looking necklace thingys for your mutt - you gotta love it, I'm definitely getting our Toby something from here for his woof-day.

The Empathy Creations themselves are all handmade pieces of jewellery from basic costume jewellery right up to really beautiful pieces suitable for a special occasion. they will also sit with you and plan a set to your own liking if you are looking for something they haven't got already. The back of the shop is like a little art gallery displaying pieces of pottery, clocks and paintings by local artists - a fabulous treat right on my doorstep! I couldn't resist buying my nephew a hand crafted jigsaw puzzle for a very decent price. Call in some day - the man behind the counter who makes the pieces is not pushy but very friendly. You will be pleasantly surprised at the treasures in store.
