Other than the golden child N6, NICE buses are ridiculously infrequent. Most buses run every 30 minutes outside of rush hour. Furthermore, buses are often late. And when buses do arrive, they're filled to capacity. The only good thing about NICE is that it's fairly cheap. You can travel from Jamaica, Queens to the Nassau-Suffolk border for $2.90 (you'll spend all day doing so). MetroCards are accepted on NICE. And with that said, if it's possible, avoid using NICE bus. read more

Because this bus service seems to be just not that into being on time, or nearly on time, or sometimes even showing up, or providing a reliable service. They should change their company name because there are no nice bus drivers. NICE still does not have OMNY scanners installed on them, so passengers get stuck knowing what to do. There is no assistance from the bus drivers. All they care about is "fare evasion." People used to using OMNY get baited and switched when needing to use NICE buses. I was traveling with someone that has OMNY and silly me, thinking the buses updates their archaic lack of electronic payment method, told the person that I think by now they have OMNY. WRONG! So, I was able to board, but she wasnt because the driver decided to be a jerk. The driver offered NO assistance in how to be able to pay and was just overall nasty. No matter how early or late you go on these bus the drivers are rude disrespectful and antagonistic. You are going somewhere and these drivers want you to leave in cuffs. N buses are the worst bus service ever i have seen in my life. Sometimes, the bus left early and sometimes they come late, but they never come exactly on time. I take n22 from Hicksville which suppose to leave at 6.05pm and it should reach mineola at 6.50pm but it always comes late and because of that, i miss my second bus. Trying to get home at 4:00 am today and the bus driver just drove past me, this is ridiculous.

I don't even want to give them 1 star. The NICE bus is so horrible, and it's so inconsistent. I am a college student that needs to get home on time to pick her sister up from the bus stop. But at this point, it's faster to run all the way to great neck than take this absolute crap of a bus. There's no point of the transit app because it's so inaccurate since the bus drivers don't care about other people's time. One time, I was waiting at the stop to go home, and the app said 6 minutes. I obviously knew that it wouldn't come on time so I was mindlessly waiting, until I saw the bus coming. I got my card out and walked near the sign to show the bus driver that I was taking that bus, but he FLIPPED ME OFF AND JUST DROVE PAST ME!!! I ended up taking the train because it was faster to ride the train than waiting 20 minutes and then another 50 minutes to get home. Another time, I was running over to the stop with my mask on, and before I got on the bus, I put my mask halfway down to catch my breath, and went on. The bus driver told me to put my mask on, and I told him I would, and as I was trying to pay, he prevented me from paying! So I thought to myself, maybe he saw that I was a student so he just let me through, how nice! I was wrong because the next thing I knew, he was demanding me to pay. YOU LITERALLY COVERED THE METRO CARD SCANNER!!!! But on the next stop, he talked in a nicer tone to the adults?! I take the N20G almost every day between Flushing and Great Neck. The service has gotten better since they changed the route soo all old N20 and N21 buses go to Great Neck and they have buses from Great Neck for points beyond. But still there are days when the bus does not show up for 45 minutes to an hour and then 2 to 3 buses come within 5 minutes. In this age of technology how hard would it be to put a GPS tracker on every bus and let people know where the bus is on their phone app. The other issue that I have is sometime they blast the heat in a bus full of people and it feels like a blow dryer is pointed at your face. People are usually dressed up for the cold so I don't see why they need to put so much heat.Not only it makes it very uncomfortable it's a big waste of energy. I don't take the bus because it's a nightmare. I had two friends trying to meet me in Woodbury one stayed in Hicksville train station all day with it never coming despite it saying so on the schedule. The n78/n79 never seems to run! It runs from 6am til 9 am and then stops until 2pm til 5pm wtf kind of schedule is that? Ok so I tell my friends and time and time again are not able to get out here. Today was the last straw! I'll be very generous with my review, when the system works it works well especially when the bus is on time. When the buses are not on time due to weather or other reason, you can call NICE to ask where the bus might be, but they have no idea where the buses are other than to say, "they're all out there working". It would be "nice" if when you call the NICE bus company they could then call the dispatcher and the dispatcher could then call the drivers to find out where the they are. Failing that, perhaps NICE could put GPS locators on buses that would then reflect the actual location of the buses on their routes! NICE bus company is probably the most inconsiderate company I've ever had the displeasure of having to rely on. Both to get to work and to get to my college classes, I have to ride these buses which are unbelievably consistent in being late. Using my phone to track the bus is almost entirely useless, since buses will seemingly get canceled or tremendously delayed to the point where calling a cab is more convenient. Google Maps, Transit App, their own app, AND apple maps can't keep up with how they don't even stick to their own ride schedule. Earlier this year, a driver actually threatened to call the police on me because I didn't have my bus ticket ready immediately. Which that in itself is a problem: if you're like me and their app is (supposed to be) more convenient to purchase rides and tickets on than trying to get a metro card, then you probably know the fiasco wherein they forced users of their first app to switch over to a whole new app rather than release an update. This wasn't necessarily the problem but when you release an app that people need in order to get around...and then it doesn't work..like at all... I spent the whole night before trying to input my card info and make an account and do all sorts of ridiculousness and it just wouldn't work. It was crashing, freezing and not accepting my card. Emailing and attempting to reach customer service was useless and to this day they haven't responded to me. So of course, the following day I was still trying to get my mobile tickets on my phone. I forgot about it until I opened the app and realized I still didn't have any rides purchased. The bus starts pulling up (late, of course) and I ask the driver if I can stand next to him and show him the ticket once I have it purchased and activated. He said yes. Two short stops later and I'm getting threatened, cursed out, and ultimately forced to tell him to calm down then just stepped off the bus myself. I didn't think it could get worse than LI Bus. Be careful what you wish for. Publicly funded and privately operated, they both point the finger at each other. Service is unreliable. Buses often don't show up, and at 1:40 in the morning that's a long wait until the next one, which you know will be overcrowded and late. I once waited 47 minutes just to get on a bus at 7:15 in the morning (while seven busses bypassed me), only to have the bus driver hold up the full bus because one person didn't have her fare ready. This is really the worst bus company ever. There is no way that there are bus times 10mins apart even on peak hours of the morning. The N6 line is the worst I've ever took. The website will give he times of the Express service but then it will not come on time. How is that the express service last bus is at 8:34AM towards Jamaica. This is Crazy! I take the n41 to get to work and can never make it on time due to the service of nice.
