Very friendly, clear, patient and most importantly knowledgeable of the process. Worked with me to set an appt that worked with both my work/school schedule. Pre-Screening appointment set for 1/30/18. 1/30/18 Arrived 10 mins early for my appointment only to be told that they have been trying to contact me for weeks to reschedule. I was told they sent me a letter which I eventually received but all of my important mail is sent electronically so I only get advertisement & spam mail so I rarely check the mailbox. They ended up having 2 numbers in my phone number inverted but appointment rescheduled for the next day (1/31/18). 1/31/18 Dr.Bilon was very apologetic for rescheduling the appointment which made me feel like they appreciated my time loss. The fact he explained to me why he had to reschedule at short notice definitely changed my initial review. The staff was again very personable and nice so the fact my appointment was rescheduled didn't matter as much. The appointment was great, Dr Bilon was very professional and explained the LASIK process and set realistic expectations. Dr Bilon's office forwarded my results and information to the lasik office which they called me the very next day to schedule the next step of my lasik journey. I would highly recommend him based on my experience.

A…read morevery friendly and competent optometry operation, there are two locations: Lancaster and Indian Land, SC. Vicky Jewell is the optometrist and she is excellent. In addition to being a friendly person, she is very thorough, always checks her records as to trends in your vision history and will refer you to specialists, if needed. Over the past two years I have had an "after cataract" which is a fogging of the lens. It has been very slowly getting worse, and now is the time to have an ophthalmologist do an evaluation and maybe do the laser work to clear it up. I have an appointment from one of her known alliance partners and we will see. Appointments are easy and they do follow-ups to remind you. If you need new lenses or frames, they can fit you there in the office. Mark is the tech guy to do it. And he is very nice as the manager of the Indian Land shop. Happy to be part of their practice...so is my wife.

You don't find ANY of that in this day and age in a doctor's office. Here's the issues: 1) Off-putting and excessive security for an optometrist office, 2) Electronic Health Records system questionnaire that doesn't value the patient's time, 3) Incompetent office staff (scheduling appointments within insurance parameters). There are other optometrist offices that provide better customer service. For more specifics: To start, greeting clients with a locked door. I know that it is the 21st century. Certain neighborhoods can be rough. Is Blakeney or Weddington a high crime area? I don't think so. So, why is it necessary to have everything but a retinal scan to get into the office space? So you had someone come in and grab some frames - once (Oakley frames cost about $15/pair to manufacture, you may pay $100/pair). Stop treating the vast majority of people as if they are going to repeatedly violate the security of your business. Between your profit margins and your insurance, you can handle the shrink. Next, let's address the Electronic Health Records system (EHR) that is designed to consume mass quantities of patient time asking questions that are sometimes patently ridiculous. Men cannot get pregnant, this is basic biology. In a digitally active online form in the 21st century, why after acknowledging that I am a man would a form ask me if I'm pregnant (this is a "sex" question, not a "gender" debate)? No reason other than wasting time/energy. Why would such a system not retain information from prior visits and simply ask for changes and updates to previously reported information? Its not a HIPAA thing. Is it because you don't value the client's time? So, you really are going to ask me to fill out this complete multi-page form again for another appointment next week - really!? Finally, lets talk about the importance of scheduling appointments that acknowledges the world of health insurance that we live in and that funds the very existence of the modern optometrist office. When a client completes an appointment and the optometrist tells the person at the front desk to set them up for their annual appointment, it is not a stretch to think that part of the scheduling algorithm would be to include insurance requirements for the ANNUAL check-up. So, imagine my disappointment, when I show up after completing the forms, working my way through security, and the front desk staff asks, "So, you're going to be paying for this visit out of your pocket?" No, I pay a monthly premium so I don't have to. Now, to make it worse, I have addressed these same issues - in writing - to the company at least 2 years ago. They haven't done anything to change them. This optometry office needs significant improvement.

I wasn't even provided the proper designer case they normally come with, just a generic one that didn't fit properly. That is not acceptable, and it certainly isn't ethical. You claim to have searched your patient database but couldn't verify me--yet somehow you sent me a private message on Yelp with direct contact info. That doesn't align. You also claim I would have responded if I were a real patient. I did not respond because I already attempted to contact your office directly before ever posting a review, and I was ignored. Figured I would go here as I looked up IN NETWORK providers in my area. None of what this place does is transparent. I asked for a simple updated Rx for my glasses and contacts. They scammed me into taking pupil dilation (which i told them I didnt want) only to turn around and make up some fake story about how I "might" have Astigmatism. Only to put me in trial contacts fit for Astigmatism and THEY HURT MY EYES. Clearly meaning I do not have astigmatism. LIES LIES and more LIES. So what should have been a $15 visit ended up being a $140 visit because they decided to code the charges as if I have astigmatism so they could say "look we put him in the fancy contact lenses, he just didnt like them." Oh and to top it all off, the script they gave me when I left was incomplete so when i went to order contacts at Costco a week later, they wouldnt complete the order because there was missing information. And doctors wonder why no one trusts them anymore after Covid...this is why!! Read the room Doc, maybe try giving a shit about your patients for once and not treating people like cattle you shuffle through your door so you can buy another beach house.
