Yes, the Falafel was under there!

If you don't know me... I just love local and independent spots! This is no exception. Family owned and operated, they take personal pride in this lil hole in the wall spot. Several seating arrangements for up to 4 people and a couple cute tables for two sit up in the front window. My friend ordered from the classic deli menu and enjoyed a traditional corned beef sandwich. Nothing special with nothing extra but lean, warm meat! I ordered the falafel dish and it came out as quite a surprise! A salad of shredded lettuce and lil diced tomatoes hiding crispy, warm chopped falafel balls. Tahihi sauce and garlic sauce on the side. Man was it filling! No frills place but great food and good service. We ordered our food and I Promise, it came it in less than 5min! Can't beat that!!

I visited the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and afterwards had worked up an appetite so looked on Yelp and Nate's was what I came up with. The food was on the table in about five minutes and was hot and tasty. Support local business I always say. I'll be back.

I recently heard that Nate's has the best hummus in Cleveland. I love Mediterranean food so it was already on my list of places to try, finally got a chance to have lunch here today with my parents and my fiancé. We all ordered something different and shared sides of hummus, babaganooj, and tabouli. The best hummus in Cleveland? I haven't had many others, but this was so far not even near the top of my favorites. Not bad, though. I was just surprised. I ordered the shawarma sandwich wrap. The meat was very tasty but lacking something as a sandwich. It didn't come with any tomato, lettuce, garlic sauce. Nothing. Just meat and bread. My mother ordered the chicken shish Tawook. Same thing. Just chicken and bread. Dad had the dinner kefta plate. His was probably the most food, but at $14 it was a bit much for lunch. We also tried the shawarma over hummus plate. That was a big surprise when it came out because the little plate it was on was so small! The size of a side salad plate. And that was $12. I had noticed the photo on yelp someone posted of the same dish in a take out box and it looked like they were given a lot more food. I would've liked some garlic sauce but that didn't come with any of our meals. Other than 1 coffee, none of us ordered a drink and the bill came to $57. It was just not as good as I was expecting. On the plus side though we were greeted when we walked in, and our waitress was friendly. Parking could be a disaster but we lucked out and found a spot.

This is old school Nate's Deli and Mideastern Cuisine. Is Cleveland more the Mideast than the Midwest, as KS and NE would definitely be?

Great service. Top notch food. Ambiance is bare bones. We got the combination platter so we could try different things. All were excellent.

They just keep placing another brisket on, and the ribbons of beef keep falling. The order counter is tiny, with a line out the door: regulars, tourists like me, and food delivery drivers all waiting their turn. There are meat trimmings everywhere, tubs of pickles, and the sense that the folks behind the counter know exactly what they are doing. The small dining room is packed with people sitting elbow to elbow, gripping massive sandwiches with stadium mustard in the corners of their mouths. It is loud, cramped, messy, and glorious. I've gone to heaven.

I joined the line just before 11 and got inside about 11:50 AM. I'm currently standing in line waiting on my sandwich which is a corned beef melt. I ordered a corned beef melt, which is toasted rye, cornbeef, double Swiss cheese - hot & melted with Kraut on the side and dressing. I got a side of potato pancakes, and also coleslaw. The folks were extremely friendly on the inside, very welcoming and very efficient as they worked to make who knows how many meals. And you'll be glad to know every sandwich comes with a dill pickle, wrapped in its own paper and ready for delicious consumption! The dill is a big deal to me because I like spears, as in the pickle not necessarily (in this case) the pop star! Come early and be ready to wait! The place is really kitchsy and has a great atmosphere. And the folks really make it awesome to be there. It has the feel of a destination restaurant the kind of place that is an experience to visit not just because of the food because of the culture and the people and the phenom that it has become.

The food had always been delicious until this last visit. Given we are regulars at the place, we know the quality of the food has been consistently fantastic and the wait for the food is typical - not too fast or slow - enough to prepare the meal given how busy the place has always been. This last time, however, it was a good 45 minutes before the order came to the table. Neither one of our meals was very good. I was very hypiglycemic by this point and so I ate the french toast that was completely uncooked inside. At first I wasn't thrilled that the bread was considerably smaller than it used to be until i bit into it to find cold wet mush. I should not have eaten it at all. My friend had ordered a patty melt - medium which should be light pink in the center. It was bloody red. She sent it back and about 20 min later it came back exavtly the same. She sent it back again. Another 20 minutes later it came back well done and with spices in the meat that made the meat taste lousy. So now she had a burger that wass over cooked and tasted bad. She didnt gat to eat because by that time we were done. I wish i had turned back the french toast. I kept hoping with every bite it might be cooked. Not one bite was cooked. Not even one. Being hypoglycemic I felt like I would lose my cool if I didnt eat something so I ate. It turns out the place had been bought and the new owner really didnt care. We got to talk to the brother of the new owner who only said that the place has been very busy and that should speak to the quality. He couldnt care less about our experience. All I have to say is that they are going to be losing a lot of money having to replace meals and once people find out about the sudden drop in quality of the food, those peeople that have been filling the place will not be returning as we wont be either. We refuse to go somewhere that the owners could care less about their patrons.

First of the Mike's Chicken Noodle soup was the best chicken noodle soup around. Rich broth, carrots, celery, chunks of chicken in a hearty broth and noodles. The hearty chicken noodle now on the menu is just broth and egg noodles. Not a veggie or chicken in sight and it's too salty and bland. Very disappointing for more than $7.50 a bowl I can't even say it's disappointing it just was bad. And served luke warm. We got the reuben sandwich to split with potato salad. Toasted bread fairly good portion for $18.95 a sandwich. But the corn beef was a bit chewy. The corn beef should be tender it was not in the middle. I wanted to like it but it was just meh. Potato salad was served in the little side Dixie cup thing. I gotta say I hate that. Potato salad was more like mashed potato salad. Again not a lot of flavor or ingredients. Service was good. The employees were the same, menu is paired down. They do still have the pickles. Which is good! But the taste and overall food was not the same. Too bad. It was a great little deli. I did hear someone was buying it from the restaurant conglomerate and I hope that's true. We need the old Jacks Deli back! Or at least better than what we have now. Until this guy takes over I am avoiding g this once great deli.

When I walked in, I had to settle for an unbelievably delicious scrapple sandwich because they were temporarily out of pastrami. Scrapple with a handmade, red, cabbage, slaw, onion, marmalade, and cheese. So creative and so delicious. My wife had asparagus and fennel soup. The fennel perfectly cut through the richness of the asparagus. Add to this one of the best potato salads I've ever had and it would've been enough. Until Jeremy came over to the table with some fresh pastrami to taste. I don't know where the best pastrami in America is, but whatever it is it's unlikely to be better than this. I ordered their Pastrami and an order of French fries that came with a seasoned aioli. Both were large helpings. The sandwich was still warm and seasoned real well with sauerkraut.
